except to buy stuff you can't really afford?
But I can save more if I know I need to. When a gig's announced short notice I might want to buy tickets for it now and then pay them off in 6 weeks when I've done the saving.
Alternatively, it can take up to 3 days for money to clear from my savings into my current account so it allows me to buy something immediately.
or even longer down the line so that you earn interest. this is why. it's also why you should collect money from people that owe you it quickly. cash flow mates
under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974
So if whoever you're buying from doesn't deliver the goods, or goes bust, you can claim your money back from the credit card provider. No other form of payment gives you this safety net.
buying plane tickets etc. is always best with a credit card
then i couldn't figure out how to pay it off online (still can't, swear it's impossible) so i had 3 late payments and now i have a really shit credit rating.
And I and other people actually explained to you what to do?
Also, even if that didn't work, couldn't you have gone to the bank to pay it, or paid by post or telephone (or even at the Post Office)?
i did the go to the bank one though eventually, but i posted that thread on a sunday which was on the deadline i had to pay it last month.
Still honestly don't get it. THERE'S NO SORT CODE OR ACCOUNT NUMBER OR ANYTHING THERE ARE NO DETAILS AT ALL.
Also plus my online banking doesn't work so it wouldn't have happened anyway lol.
So why are they so keen to give me a credit card, and/or a loan? If I was a cynic I might say it’s almost.. suspicious
On the other hand, banks are generally quite ethical and selfless
For example, I have a Amazon Mastercard and I receive points every time I purchase something with this card. So I pretty much pay for everything on my credit card but pay it off in the same month. This results in me receiving a £10 voucher to spend at Amazon about every 3 months or so.
Does that sound "perfect" to you? Does it?
I sling it over my shoulder and sing Heigh-Ho on my way to the bin. Fun, fun, fun.
If you pay off the balance each month you don't pay any interest so effectively you can buy something wait a month for the bill wait another month until you pay then as long as you pay it all off you've had up to 2 months no interest, where as over draft start charging from day one. Also good for building a good credit rating and better and easier fraud protection
1. It's safer then using a debit card
2. You can use it in emergencies
3. You can get that hyper computer you've always wanted to watch hyper porn
4. You can be an idiot and spend about your means
then you're just not faffing around with cash, and as said safer than a debit card, plus etc etc etc credit record
build up a credit rating, enabling you to find it easier to get a mortgage when you need to. Sure, you can improve your credit score via other contracts, etc, but cards are the main way, no?
I've never had a credit card. I don't buy stuff on credit. I still use a PAYG phone, not because i need to, just because it makes financial sense for me to do that. I'm pretty proud of living within my means, but it's not beneficial in the long term. A bank would lend money to someone who owes, say, £30k, before they give me a penny. Seems pretty backwards to me.
Idk, i just prefer to buy stuff with cash reddies. I've not got a single direct debit or standing order. Money goes into my bank periodically, shit gets paid (more often than not), the rest goes on real ale. Maybe it's an immature way of doing it, not sure, but i find it much less of a hassle.
Get a crappy credit card with a low limit and just stick a few groceries on it every month to build your rating up. Never know when a loan could come in useful, or the credit card itself, plus getting a mortgage would be a pain in the ass.
The corners are fairly rounded aren't they? Especially these ones: http://i.imgur.com/m8AZM.jpg
I rarely use it though. I would use it if it weren't killing me on interest. Only use it when I am in Canada tbh. I was thinking I should just move in onto a new card. Is that possible?
Balance transfers were made illegal yesterday.
This is obviously bullshit. :(
Christ, you animal! :-o
unless you've changed your name or some shit
scamming credit card companies
scamming discogs users
should I? I'm not sure I could be trusted. Its basically free money in the first month! I think i'll just stick to the debit card and getting cash out.
not sure if I can be bothered though. I made like 66p interest last month in my savings account..BONUS! but then my current account got charges £30 for being in my overdraft...not cool. I really need to sort out my finances but i'm too lazy. Does anyone want to be my accountant? Can someone please cancel my lovefilm?
To other people? Clearly yes.
as an interest free loan. If I need one.
