Check out http://www.compareholidaymoney.com/ I usually find Travelex are best though as you can get a better deal by buying online and collecting from a branch without fees. Even if they're halfway down the list on the comparison site, they often work out cheaper as others like ICE don't let you pay online unless you want delivery, and will whack on a fee when you go to a branch.
There's branches at Liverpool St, the Strand and Victoria
Seriously though, these are the guys that I usually use.
There's one in waterloo too.
make sure that you go to their website and print of the form thing for a better rate.
There's a place Brooner always recommended with like five offices around London and they do a really good rate. I'm not sure you'll save a great deal, though, depending on how much you expect to spend.
A number of banks/accounts don't charge you a fee within the Eurozone - need to check your sepcific account details first.
If you have a Halifax Clarity credit card, for example, there's no withdrawl fees, almost perfect exchange rates (better than what you'd get exchanging cash in this country), and all you pay is interest on what you withdraw which is about £1/month.
Excellent link about this: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money
So basically I've looked into this and, with my debit card, I don't pay a transaction fee if I use a DeutschBank cash machine (but do in other cash machines). That sounds doable.
You put the amount in you need, it tells you where you'd get the best rate. Simple.
(Actually do try the Post Office, by all means, though I just use my debit card at a cashpoint.)
They have a small office in Canary Wharf and also nest to Richer Sounds by London Bridge station. Ask for their online rate and it's a pretty tight bid/offer.
Though if you are changing a load up money up there are companies who will deliver and offer very good rates. I can get you more info but it usually has to be over £2000
