Currently struggling to write one about the 'language and style' of imperial fiction and it's doing my head in.
With an essay on the language and style of Imperial fiction, there probably isn't one.
Talk bollocks, sound authoratative, state opinion strongly, quote sources, get first.
That actually made me happier.
I think you're right though - still go mediocre in Politics essays though.
I realised only later in life that attitude is the key to good essay writing.
.. which you shouldn't.
Realised much later of course, that you're not marked on your ideas but how you developed them and assert them. More style, less substance. :P
But then I enjoy sitting exams, so am perhaps a bit strange.
I realised I've been treating essays as finished artistic products rather than experimental test pieces. It's better now.
1. No first-year exams so I'm not killing myself in this beautiful weather
2. Generally the papers have been really interesting, not sure if I've managed to do justice to everything though
3. Got a friendship group
...dissertation and big portfolio and exams all next year. jesus fuck.
Sounds like you're making the most of it. The only thing I'd say is make sure you do exactly as much extra curricular stuff as you can without affecting how well you want to do in your exams - you'll never have this much fee time again to explore other stuff.
