I really want to move to Stockholm. Tell me it's great and that I should go.
Fantastic pics! :)
beautiful sunset and I live on top of a hill overlooking the city
thanks for the complimang tho
from the middle of May until the middle of September it's Paradise
I didn't need much convincing to be honest, hoping to move over there in a few months. Can't wait! :)
hey, what camera do you have? I think it's about time I got one for myself, and I want whatever you used to take these.
it's probably technique as much as anything, I guess.
combined with having a good view from my building
on a side-note, I love it when the moon is in that phase. Something beautiful about that sliver of a moon.
I love the toe-nail-cutting moon
tried to take something with my iPhone and it was worthless. :/
I didn't see the sunset last night as I was rehearsing in the hottest room EVER. Not pleased.
thanks very much for those :)
3 weeks ago was much more dramatic
but last night was so serene
can't really get the whole view into a picture though
I tried a collage that evening of the whole view but it doesn't /quite/ work
same but bigger pic here
but it's actually a really nice effect. lovely.
A for effort. It actually works out quite nicely.
I'm gonna have to experiment a little more with it though I think
I'd like to actually be able to get on the roof of my building with tripod - these are all handheld through a window
It ain't much ... but it's home
but i'm gonna post it anyway because it's a beaut.
Northern shore of the Manukau Harbour.
but i'll post anyway
was taken on my run about a year ago, i'll take a better quality one of the city tomorrow
looks like a cosmic lung or something
shame it's so small
a bit wonky because it's a scan
There's something about sunsets that just really connects
Just taken this about an hour or so ago, whilst watching a bank of fog move in across the harbour.
It's going to be a good day, today.
which is usually dark of course but see for youself
taken from my bedroom window with an iPhone at 12.38am
Surely they'll be delighted?
Waipatiki Beach, east coast of New Zealand. The lights are from Napier in the distance (my hometown)
You can't beat a good rugged Pacific coastline. I need to get to East Coast at some point.
In fact, I need to start getting south of Auckland more often too.
Agreed, you really should, it's not a very long drive and there are plenty of cheap camping spots (especially at this time of year)
Any aurora possibilities ?
and even then they're pretty rare.
Don't think there's a hope in hell of glimpsing any as far north as Auckland though, especially with the insane amount of light pollution.
At about 10:30pm
Thanks to both of you!
oh my GOD
not the most spectacular sunset but here's a shot with 3 hot air balloons, 3 boats & a swallow
hot air balloons are beautiful, I know they're basically inflated orbs of air, but they really make a scene don't they
they occasionally float dangerously close to our house too - it's a bit weird and freaky to suddenly see a massive balloon with a wee basket full of people outside your window
apparently Stockholm is the only European capitol that allows hot air balloons across its airspace
this is one from a few months ago
looked better on my phone though
but every day of winter (except the one it snowed) i was wishing for summer wtf
reflecting on the building across from my room
the quality of the photo is made even worse from the freak snow-storm that hit the city at the time
I love the balance of nature & skyscapers
Stockholm doesn't have skyscrapers - apart from the old tax house
but I can see how you'd confuse this with Auckland as they're really the only two cities in NZ that have anything close to a skyline.
Same here, especially here where one minute you can be walking among skyscrapers and then minutes later be in a secluded valley with nothing above 2 stories in sight.
I think most European cities would lose their charm if they had skyscrapers
Non sunset related, this is my favourite Wellington photograph I took not long after I arrived in NZ. I like how the skyscrapers on the right side make a valley with the hills on the left. I walked from the CBD to pretty much the middle of silence in about 20 minutes.
This has inspired me to take my camera out tomorrow and walk around the city
I should probably start a blog
The best part about those is that in the first couple of pictures, I couldn't tell if it was a ridge of hills or cloud sitting near the horizon. Mysterious indeed.
I'm getting inspired. I'm taking out my camera out with me far more often from now on.
Can't be certain though :)
might start a tumblr
But don't do a tumblr
It's gonna take forever to count all these votes
I think that me, you and Antelope are the only people still bothering with it :D
but you never know, someone might pin me on pinterest and then the whole (small corner of the) internet will bask in the dying light of the day courtesy of half a million reblogs
I'm on my way out to the archipelago right now for a couple of nights so with any luck I'll be able to get sunsets with STARS
on a tiny island
nr elephant and castle, from the top floor of my house.
nr hackney central, this is a much better pic than the one before this
Note the Olympic rings on the former Stock Exchange tower.
but those are gorgeous.
some really nice new snaps. I went skiing last week and on the way home managed to pull over and take a few photos. The mountain is Mt Ruapehu.
its actually an active volcano too
It sure is, I was reminded of this in '95 when my house was covered in ash. I was really young so thought it was the apocalypse.
nature sure is awesomely pretty
I'm going here next month. Will see if I can match these photos exactly :)
Between Tallinn and Helsinki: http://bit.ly/LhjVW0
to the one you have there
Looks like a nice evening in Sarajevo
here's from June 30th; rainy
these are from July 5th/6th at just around midnight in the middle of the Baltic at Åland
yours ain't bad neever
the clouds on that first one look like they've been painted
...with a sunset in the background of course.
but I thought it was about time this thread was bumped
This was the view from my room last night
