And doesn't get you drunk
But it isn't as pleasant in large volumes which is surely the primary condition for a good canned lager
Not had it on Tap for years
That's a gaybar, pal. Dont go again.
But I thought they were just really nice pubs, probably every nice pub is a gay bar
and alleges they gave him poppers (lol) and he wasn't aware of their effects till i told him. nothing happened though.
tyskie is the nice but obviously everyone just gets a couple of bottles of it instead of cans
Whilst drinking it!
Greene King IPA, then Tetley's
pretty sure they're not lagers...
Other than that, great post.
You're a momo
Spars own brand stuff, really good for really cheap
really taking off over here now in bottles and on draft. still rare in cans but find-able.
I find it a bit hard to stomach paying almost a fiver for 4 bottles of over £4 a pint for it when in Barcelona it's 36p a can
On the stock sheet at work, it's listed as 'Estrella Damn'.
beer in Barcelona, brewed there etc. so.. yeah.
that carlsport is great. i'm think i had a conversation with yesiamaduck once where he agreed.
Cos green can is fucking horrible
Opening it up to any beer and this is the nicest beer I've had out of a can http://www.selectism.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/maui-brewing-company-big-swell-ipa-1.jpg
no one really drinks it anymore much it seems. back in the 60s and 70s it was crazy popular i'm told. it isn't really 'indian' i found out recently although possibly that's well known. invented by scousers apparantly.
unless you're talking about a specific brand of later, and not the type of ale.
Honourable mentions for Oranjeboom, Tyskie, Stella 4% and Zywiec.
you accidentally typed Stella 4%.
I first tasted Export because it was 6 for £5 but was reluctant to buy it because the other Cberg is so shite. But it's plenty flavoursome, refreshing and cheap. That, Tyskie or Oranjeboom be the canned largers of choice for me
Do you ever got on the REAL Polish beers, like Tatra, Zubr, Strong, etc? Try having ten of them.
I'm often not that sure about Polish beer in cans, often doesn't taste the busines. If we're talking about taste, then Okocim or Zywiece in bottles fer me.
I just always get Tyskie cos it's what my local shop sells.
Used to love that stuff at uni. £4 for 4 cans at 7.2%? Sure, why not.
has anyone tried DAB, the Dormund beer? Well nice, and for some insane reason i can drink twice as many of them and have almost zero hangover.
On the the other hand, i can never put away more than about 6 or 7 Kronenbourg, or even Carlsberg Export. I keep telling people they put something in the bubbles. I drink quite a bit, standard, but some beers i can (on occasion) drink all night (10 or 12 Oranjeboom or Stella's no biggy, not every week like, i'm not a monster!), but i've not remembered getting to bed off 6 Exports before now.
because it just gives me the worst blaty drunk feeling ever + a hangover to back it up. Which is a shame because as far as flavour goes it's quite nice and distinctive
Oranjeboom I can neck back all day and be fine
Because of the "German Beer Purity Law" or "Reinheitsgebot" you'll get less of a hangover because in Germany you are only allowed to use water, barley, hops and yeast. Better for you and better taste.
Because they sold it in the Bargain Booze over the road. I never liked it but he'd never fail to crack the reinheitsgebot banter out after he'd had a few...
Think I'll pick up a few on the way home tomorrow
and can drink it quite easily. My fave canned Lager for taste though is Heineken, but I can't drink more than 4 or 5. Worst has to be Fosters. The green cans put me of Carlsberg.
8.5% of psychedelic goodness
Surprisingly tolerable when lukewarm too
a very dark taste and lethally strong, 7% i think ?
a friend of mine used to live near a shop which did 7 for £5 ... messy
I always want to try the more x factor looking polish ones, but someone left a can of a 7% one at mine on NYE on when I tried it it was absolutely revolting
Without. A. Doubt.
Everything else can cunt off. Apart from Kronie.
To those in the same ABV% bracket anyway. I even think many are made in the same factory somewhere in Newcastle, it is not like they import from overseas. Try a blind taste and see what happens.
I like the stronger ones, Polish lagers like Tyskie, Lech & Zywiec are pretty good. Cheap too if you get them from a Polish place. Otherwise literally anything will do, Lidl's own brand Lager is £2.49 for 4 500ml tins, it tastes just like Fosters et al.
but I really like extra strong Strongbow in a can. 8.4%, I think. hate regular Strongbow, but this stuff is nice, in a really low-rent, totally unsophisticated way.
from the offie. I'll pay you when you bring them back.
is my favourite.
Often cheap, which helps.
a 4 pack is like £3 from asda which is enough for an evening with the lads and some films. Going to a party? fuck it get another pack. Quite strong, think its around 5% which puts it above other lagers at that price.
Budvar is the answer.
and it's only 11:30am
They should be 500ml, pint cans are a bit unwieldy. Red Stripe is often something strange like 480ml, just about OK. I just feel you are getting swindled with smaller cans, a pint is 568ml, so you are getting tons less than that. Over a whole 8-pack you only get about 6 pints out of it, or a whole can less than an 8 pack of 500ml lager!
another reason why those 330ml cans of Estrella you get in Barcelona are so goddamn good
if i'm anywhere else, whichever Polish beer is in my hand, and yes, i'll try all of the Polish options available although i will normally get a lech as it's only 5.2% and sometimes after a few strong cans, i desire a slightly weaker can.
is that making me pay £4 for beer in a venue/bar/club and then giving me a can can fuck off
Although it would probably be a better beer than the one coming through their shitty pipes from their shitty cellar into a shitty glass. Assuming the tin is cold of course.
picking up a few tins of Red Stripe, and then sitting in the park drinking them and ironically playing le crosse. Wearing a denim jacket and a bobble hat.
SKOL is the number one beer in Brazil
It's sort of treated like we would a port or something. At the end of a fancy meal, they'll wheel the Super T out and everyone will have a little glass.
and Heineken is actually pretty good canned.
Lager is the worst thing to drink besides piss, and discussing one brand's merits over others is the most freakishly inverted kind of snobbery there is.
Strong posting by in_limbo above. Dude needs to get a 6-pack and chill out!
I'll even buy 440ml cans if it makes it £1 a can. I'll stretch to a fiver for decent stronger lager, but anything over that (even £5.29) - puts me right off. Sometimes you get stuck with a Tesco Metro or sutin, there is often a wall of Carling et al, all for £5.80 or more for 4 warm cans.
