Windies 83-2 at lunch.
jimmy is a magician. haven't seen much of bravo before, he looks very good.
long old season, this'll be
apart from Ian Healy that is.
give me defiant idiosyncracy over a thousand identikit suresh rainas
as Blofeld called it
seen bresnan throw a few down leg at 78/79. must be boggy.
It WILL be dry
I have seen all three wickets. Am I God?
ridiculous natural ability which wins out over insane technique. I remember his supporting innings to Lara's 375 when TMS were banging on how great he was. To retain that level of consistency through around 15 years of test cricket is phenomenal.
One of my first memories of being super excited by cricket was listening to TMS during England's winter tour there in 93/94. Windies had Haynes, Richardson, Lara, Ambrose, Walsh. England had Alan Igglesdon. England won a dead rubber with Stewart getting a century in both innings and it felt like we'd beciome champions of the world. Great days.
To be honest I'm still not really comfortable with England being good.
In contrast to previous captain Graham Gooch, Atherton adopted a more relaxed approach to touring, allowing players time off rather than continual practicing, though perhaps Chris Lewis's decision to get his head shaved on a day off was a mistake - he spent a full day recoving from the subsequent sun-stroke
Gooch carrying his bat
Marshall, Ambrose and Walsh
Viv Richards dancing down the wicket for 6 (i think at trent bridge)
Tufnell getting 4 wickets in 10 balls to help tie the series
Rampers, Hick and Atherton all being destroyed
When going to the cricket do you prefer seeing your team bat or bowl? Obviously both is preferable but I'm not allowing that.
they can both be horrible but it's between living in constant dread and constant .
dis is weird today
They were talking in quite a lot of detail about what they'd had for dinner the night before (which in itself is just brilliant). Blofeld had ordered lobster from room service, or as he put it; 'I sent for a lobby and, I must say, we got on famously'
I'm quite glad really i want a long match that we win
but that inswinger is absolutely huge
I am in heaven. Come on England!
hopefully they can win 1 out of 7 ??
when they play England? Remember rooting for them when they played some of the dullest cricket ever to secure the series 1-0 in 2009. Cant explain why it is. Certainly dont feel this way about SA, Aus, ....Bangladesh
I assume that's because everyone agrees with Bairstow & Big Tim being in so there's nothing to discuss, yeah? Also, first time I've seen Onions in a long while, I'd forgotten what he looked like (honestly, in my head he'd become rounder and fairer and generally more onion-y, which I guess is proof of the power of suggestion, or something). Good to see him fit again.
and maybe having a look at James Taylor somewhere in the batting line up, but can't argue with Bres or Bairstow
I'm hoping that he breaks his bat mid-innings thus recalling the beginning of Chamber of Secrets.
Sigh. Why do we have to be so predictable.
ball went dead after 40 overs or so but i enjoyed the first session and a half.
really wish he'd play a bit of test cricket sometimes. He's doing the one dayers though right?
had a fall out with them. Great cricketer.
lets talk cricket Homies.
Stuart Broad is great.
how comforting it must be for the team to know you have him coming in at number 3 to steady the ship and carve out a few runs
a 15 minute dicussion about pork pies, seamlessly interupted every 40 seconds with a 3 second description of the latest defensive shot, before getting back to pies.
of chronic impatience should be put on a strict diet of at least one test match series, listening from start to finish, even through breaks for bad weather.
just how did we win the championship last year?
360 to avoid an innings defeat. no chance of getting our first win this season.
My name is my name!
the one i was using yesterday has gone fud
found one anyway, just as prior was clean bowled.
gorgeous isn't it? Would love to watch a game there. Might add it to the list.
Wonder if there is any other sport anywhere where it comes close to being as mental?
snooker sometimes. but that's just a bit funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fxd-u0PSNJU
Suppose there's not much else which moves slow enough for commentators to have an extended discussion about people's picnics or to take the piss out of archery for 5 minutes.
It's full of excitement, take the current situation of Aggers and Vaughan chatting about archery whilst Jonathan Trott ambles in with some military medium.
'sports that aren't football' thread.
Is it a good idea? I'm not sure if it's amazing or terrible.
TEXTBOOK PISS-CARD THERE
runs to be had here, no need to bat like a damn fool.
250 lead would be interesting...
Really wish I didn't have to work tomorrow and could pop up and watch it. £10 for tickets tomorrow...
"Well bowled by the archangel"
still it is good to see them giving us a run for our money.
can we play Onions at Trent Bridge please?
And there is Fududufoodaddin
