Specifically. When you go to a job interview. What do you reply to the 'what are your weaknesses' question?
And how you overcame it.
I can't believe people still ask this.
"My weakness is for you, gorgeous" then give them a little pat on the bum
Don't though, obviously.
and care too much.
eg 'i used to be a bit crap at excel but now, after working at it, i'm great'. rather than something personal e.g. 'i hate people'. it shows you have a skill and means you won't miss out on the job for a crap reason.
`sometimes I get angry...`
I didn't get the job
that's my one & only weakness
was talking about preparation for projects and said "You don't want to go in dry" and then faltered as I realised what I had said...
Got second interview though!
LEAVE IT, YEH?
then i realised my skills for helping others to be as great as me instead of shouting at them all the time
or something like that.
And it works!
this has been my prepared answer, but i've never had to use it.
IS NONE OF YOUR BIIIIIIIIZZ-NEEEEEEEEEESSSS
*GRRWAAARRRR* THEO SMASH!
unsurprisingly I didn't get the job.
I normally say something like 'I can be quite stubborn but only because I'm confident I am doing the right thing and I'm passionate blah blah blah'.
have had a tendency to focus on the small detail to the detriment of the big picture, but it's something i'm aware of and have been concentrating on improving in recent months
They appriciate honesty.
I said I can appear laid back, but actually I am just calm under pressure, level headed etc. It was always my criticism from teachers in school that I am laid back, which infuriated them if I aced a test or answered a question correctly despite daydreaming through it.
Just gave me the job instead.
it gives me a nice excuse if I now appear very laid back in work.
that then gives me a chance to talk about learning styles etc. always goes down well.
Spoke about how my technical skills specific to the job would need some improvement before I got working.
When telling me why I'd failed, they said "You should have spoken about your confidence being low at times, or struggling to work as part of a group."
That'd be all well and good if I hadn't spent the first half telling them how good a team player I was.
i have trouble switching off and tend to think about work in my personal time.
(no, not that personal time)
