jimbo: "your hobbies include poetry, i hear?"
woman 1: "yes"
jimbo: "tell me, have you ever shown your boyfriend your ditties, <he>"?

jimbo: "say, i hear you have a peculiar leg?"
woman 2: "yes, i have a pin in it"
jimbo: "i bet that makes...certain things awkward, eh?"
woman 2: "yeah, like tennis"
jimbo: "...and other things, hehe".

jimbo: "so, what does yout husband do?"
woman 3: "he's a builder"
jimbo: "oh, i see, so he's always putting things up, and you're always taking things down, eh, eh, eh?"

CLASS TELLY.

  • Can we not get back to these simpler times?

Indeed, my friend, indeed. Back in the days when studio audiences could freely bring their own lunches. Witness for yourself the halcyon days before HEALTH AND SAFETY WENT MAD :

    • By contrast...

...this clip also illustrates the bad old days when footballers could only afford three buttons for their shirts. Think on that, Mr Rooney, THINK ON THAT.

  • Thanks to Jim Bowen there are people on council estates across

the land who need not fear rising sea levels, for they have rusting speedboats in their back gardens.

    • Not many of them, though.

      That final challenge was HARD.

      • ^what your mum said last night, obv.

To which I responded: "Get out of that sack and into yer bed, but you'll get nothing in this game that won't be recounted in a DiS thread."

But I'm not a complete monster: I didn't ask her for my BFH.

  • Challenge TV is fucking brilliant.

Stuff like Bullseye and Blockbusters are massively watchable on at least three levels: Quiz shows are great, obviously. No need for slebs (other than the brief appearance of a guest arrow thrower on Bully). No telephone voting. Not tediously drawn out over an hour or more - just a simple bitesized half hour chunk of telly. As a relatively honest window into the recent past (rather than a carefully constructed TV drama where all the rough edges are filed off) they're priceless - even in my early 30s, the 80s and early 90s seem like a world away - not 'better' or 'worse' overall, but a really different feel to modern life (dunno if the OP quotes are real, but that doesn't matter cos they're believable a real). As good as any BBC Four retro documentary.

  • None of those innuendos really makes sense

But I like the effort he's putting in

  • I've heard the reason they stopped making Bullseye was to do with

and incompatibility between the rights owner's dislike of right-wing cunts and TV stations only recommissioning it if Bowen presented it.

    Allegedly.
