Just reading how it got booed off at its first film festival and was hated by virtually all critics. I've got to be honest, i thought it was a masterpiece.
Walken's brilliant, and obviously cool as fuck, as you expect, but then there's Fishburne, Caruso, Snipes, Boo-shemi, Turturro - it's one of the great casts.
There are some absolutely top-notch murders, as well - the phonebox guy early doors, the Mehihan dealer with the suitcase full of tampons, the brutal killing of Frank Clay - superb, not to mention the 20-minute shoot.
A lot of time for the subway parts, firstly where he's groping his lawyer's tits and the punks rob him, but the end shoot-out, as well - both splendid, unforgettable scenes. There's quite a bit of ass in it, actually.
A dark, brooding, well-paced, edge-of-your-seat classic.
