Derek Spade, a paranoiac, obsessive compulsive office worker, becomes ensnared in a deadly game of cards...and obsession.
On a morning much like any other morning, idling over a spreadsheet, driven to distraction, he turns to his favourite vice: computer solitaire. But it soon becomes clear that this is a game he won't win.
Tasked by himself with winning at least one game before returning to work, Spade realises that the virtual cards aren't falling in his favour...and a terrifying realisation slowly dawns on him: the computer has become sentient, and is deliberately causing him to lose, in a plot to overthrow humanity by throwing a deadly spanner in the world's bureaucratic gears.
The future of civilisation rests on Spade outwitting his devilish computer opponent. Or else his colleagues intervening and reducing the difficulty.
