Going to watch it? Know anyone running? Run one before?
running the Greater Manchester one the week after. First one ever. I'm drinking red wine atm and I probs shouldn't.
A personal worst time, but with an injury it was just about getting round.
My only advice to you is to take it easy this week, make sure you don't start too fast, and enjoy it! I'm sure you've heard it all before anyway.
Good luck :)
Yeah, gonna do a couple of little runs but essentially I'm just going to be sitting and eating pasta. I'm really scared of starting too fast, as it's easy to do with the crowd and the occasion.
Haven't even bothered to check the official time yet. Picked up an achilles strain at around 11 miles, so had to run/walk the rest. Pretty respectable time considering - gutting though.
No more marathons till I'm well into my 30s now - at least not without a very good reason!
that's a ridiculously good time considering.
Rough luck though. Horrible to have done all the training and then have something like that go wrong on the day. My 2007 London Marathon run when I had the squits from around mile 10 to he finish was one of the grimmest experiences of my life.
actually picked it up about two or three weeks ago - cut the training mileage right back, and it felt ok in what I had done (including a couple of quick runs to try it out), but seems it just hadn't recovered fully.
I've got plenty of years of running in me anyway - will aim for some quick breezy 5 and 10ks over the next few years :)
Saw him going past the Hungerford Bridge and cheered him on. He was destroyed by the end. I'm very proud of him, but it's a tough act for a slob like me to follow.
editor's love that kinda shit. Possibly.
Claire Squires, was a friend of a friend of mine and I'd met her a few times through work (I work at the local newspaper and she did a fair bit of fundraising for charities). She was raising money for the Samaritans and before yesterday she'd collected about £500. I checked a few minutes ago ( www.justgiving.com/Claire-Squires2 ) and it's up to £37k.
Is up to £83k now. Wow.
It's for a wonderful cause, would be pretty irritating if it was for something shit.
