Do you keep getting told you should do a certain job?
Yeah, so I do all of the tannoy announcements at work and honest to god, I get maybe 3 or 4 people a day comment on my voice. Not to mention all the staff who always mention it too.
One woman said 'who is that guy with the BBC voice' and I said it was me. Considering sending off a demo CD to some people - why the heck not? I'm not too bothered if it doesn't come through, I already have a job, but would be cool right?
Just got no idea how to get together a sample CD/where to record it.....maybe i'll just do it all at home.
wasn't it just some middle-aged vinegar-bag who told him he needed to be a model?
or something like that
If you stopped just using this message board to brag.
If you stopped just using this message board to explode all your boring shit and lonliness over the world and cheered up a little.
You should both just be a bit more like me x
If you stopped just using this message board as someone else and were just true to yourself. Just be yourself.
for goodness sake.
...how does one become a voice-over artist? I mean, where do they come from?
it turns out you can get diplomas in this kind of thing....basically it just says produce loads of samples and send them to voice artist companies or radio stations etc and just wait. Then, once you'lve established yourself and got a few jobs then you can set up a link with an agent or something.
Apprently most VO artists work from home over ISDN lines. Easy work for loads of money if you're well known.
I work with a lot of VO artists in my job, and it's definitely not 'Easy work for loads of money'. it probably is if you're the guy who does the film trailers, but...
Piece o' piss.
it does seem like an incredibly hard industry to get involved in.
if you are, fair play to you
Um, well no. I'm not that good. Get told it's more of a quintessential English authority type voice.
voice over artist
popped up once while we were watching a WWII documentary in school doing the voice over for a load of Nazis/other Germans. No-one believed me it was my grandad, obvs.
You think long and hard about that, Chris.
Im a radio producer and use voice overs daily... its REALLY easy... just read a 30 second script... from you little home studio and make some good money.
Send me you voice reel
....put the "r" on your seems to have lapsed.
is this okay?
Total professional discretion will be expected though.
Have a listen here www.voiceovers.co.uk
see if you're up to it
keep us informed, Chris.
even for you this is pretty shocking! At least disguise it by starting a thread called 'How does one become a voice artist'
How diverse is your voice, because if it isn't that diverse and you just sound a bit posh and well spoken then you won't get very far.
to it happen and this guy talked and this voice came out an di was like woah
I thought I'd say it anyway
ages ago you did some threads with a video of you and your voice was well ridiculous. you said monehrr instead of money.
but yeah i'm apparently posh. I don't see it though - although in Uxbridge I probably seem it.
