your not properly motivate so should be put to death
But I agree, no unemployed person should be allowed to vote- they clearly will only look after themselves!
a hard right UKIP'er, who is clearly playing Devil's advocate on his blog.
Let's just call it attention-seeking trolling and reserve that phrase for people who are genuinely exploring challenging concepts and ideas.
Being a cock
when only men of property were allowed to vote.
sending a boat with 5 soldiers on to subdue whole countries. We were getting something right
Of Old Sarum
The way the NHS is being dismantled, it won't be too long before what the Government does is completely irrelevant to the rest of us.
well on the whole no, after all it is not a good idea to have everyone elses future dependant upon self admitted selfish and nasty people who love to find a group of people who already are weaker than them and then kick the living bejesus out of the already less powerful people (raanraals and alex excepted)
The suggestion int he OP was made by a UKIPer.
loud' (for keeping on your screen for work) I noticed he was an ex uk young cvonservative chairman or something so I assumed he was a tory voter.....OK so it seems (if he is UKIP) that they are branching out to more than 'just about europe' and generally attract people for whom the tories are just too placid to be 'excitingly extreme
being excitedly extreme.
Have the mental image of a bunch of pensioners joining UKIP to go sky diving.
because on the whole they seem like more reasonable people, so they can vote (with the odd exception)
I was only posting that as a kick out at the original suggestion.
Surely it is less bad to take away some power from people who on the whole are 'Im alright jack' and are probably much more well powerful and rich, rather than to take away the a remaining vestige of some degree of power from someone with hardly anything?
It is not a level playing field.
All I have done is to take the original suggestion (which would cause the field to be even less level) ....inverted it so that the result is that it would actually make the playing field more level.
Its a technique, designed to show how ridiculous it is to have selective democracy (if you believe in that sort of thing) and to make people realise that even if they were to introduce selective democracy, it would be better to do it different.
I'm a firm believer in voting and the democratic process, and would always rather see someone go out and vote opposite to my views than squander their chance to make a difference.
But if you were being sarcastic thats all cool.
Would this phrase include all those who take universal benefits like the winter fuel allowance? No? What a surprise!
Look up[ david mitchells hilarious soapbox episode on 'Pensioners'
episode refer to the BUPA advert?
go onto Youtube and check out David Mitchells soapbox
there are many short (2-5 minutes) rants on particular subjects.
(I particularly liked the smart dress one, he gets really physically worked up in that one)
Would recomment for everyone, they are easy to digest.
I love that BUPA advert.
The guy on it is 83 and won a medal in "the war", which genuinely refers to the WW2. If that is so he would have been 16 when ww2 ended.
Thus cutting whole swathes of benefits from the state. I'm a genius
if you take away a large number of UK peoples rights and enslave them then you could compete with china/india/emerging countries better. it doesnt really matter about their life expectancy (as long as you prevent devestation of the workforce by epidemic/disease.
You could coral them and feed them all very cheaply.
The advent of electric control devices might make life easier for the second tier of society to keep the bottom tier under control for their masters.
awful facistic society might consider. I countered with a slightly less far down the line scenario that an awful society might consider, not to counter you, but to show what it is that I am afraid of, in the route that many hard right people might propose (along the lines of making unemployed/powerless people even weaker). It is stuff like this that we have to be afraid of, it is not too far fetched, because currently we are not a country in sufficient extremis, and yet countries Do go into extremis where before they were not, and then they are susceptable to radical extreme answers to the extreme conditions they are in. It is dangerous to allow those with too much power to enter these stages with too much say.
of course they shouldn't.
you know where its like this and they're like YOU HAVE TO VOTE blah blah blah or we'll kill you/lock you up/something.
Will they know if you go along and void the vote?
you're allowed to spoil your ballot paper or hand it in blank. In Australia at least.
this was all I wanted to know.
without making some of the absolute mongs vote.
by mongs I meant people who have no interest or understanding of voting or who to vote for or politics. Bad word.
But come on let's face it there are people out there who don't vote and who you really wouldn't want to vote. On the other hand as Churchill said:
"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter."
I don't care about politics really so don't know why I've entered into this. *leaves thread*
clearly *I* am the only person who knows what is right for the world. so *I* should have sole franchise
then what I would do would be to use prevention of terrapinism bypasses to record what people vote (because how they vote will give an indication as to whether they might be involved in terrapins) then those that are voting for labour could be targeted so that they are disqualified for voting
automated optical interpretation is improving all the time
(although labour would also have lost popularity were they in power) and they will want to get re-elected.
just strategic targeting in marginals
