Whats your opinion of it?
and there noodle boxes too. MMMMM.
so they're ok by me.
+ They give food to the homeless and stuff
- Bit pricey for me
- I don't know, I don't go there very often at all
I think... I think we've just identified that Jac_le_bisc is homeless. Poor Jac, chin up mate.
how do you like that?
I love lamp.
pret is my favourite place to buy take away lunch from.
pricey for what you get, but moderately tasty
curse me and my urge to go with the full chorus
its coffee is very nice when compared to other chains.
Pret > cafe nero > starbucks > costa
Obviously maison d'etre owns them all but I don't go past it on my way to work
you just hit it on the head.
not heard of maison d'etre though.. not come up north yet
The coffee is lush. I always have a piccolli or something like that
Let's talk about you and me
Let's talk about all the good things
and the bad things that may be
Let's talk about it
EAT's about 50p cheaper though (both are right by my office)
However I've recently stopped buying lunch out, and I've been saving an absolute fortune. When I do (like today cos I didn't go shopping at the weekend) I just get the M&S meal deal
You have to be really strict on doing a full shop on Sunday and having stuff ready for the week or i'll just buy stuff.
Buy it made
Minimal effort needed
fills you up
but then I have to go buy the soups and carry the soups to work along with my bananas, oranges, apples, crisps, and various other snackies.
Buy the week's worth and store it in your drawer, etc.
2.70ish for a realy nice sandwich = very good value ineed.
maybe some fruit or a little cakey
^thats like almost a tenner!
whose sandwiches are fucking shit.
but I wouldn't know as I don't buy sandwiches from supermarkets that aren't m&s
but once there's meat in there they're up to £3, standard.
ANYONE BUY A MEAT SARNIE FROM TESCO/SAINSBURY'S TODAY?
they're about £3.
YOU'VE BEEN CAUGHT OUT MR. You luuurrvveeee supermarket sandwiches.
eventually i gave up and brought some rolls, some philadelphia, some spinach and a tomato. came to about £2.50. and my sandwiches are nicer than tescos.
I'd say average is around the £3.20 mark. Their salmon and cream cheese is £2.50 and is lovely.
- they just use those automated coffee machines now
- they've made sure every veggie sandwich with cheese has to have raw red onions in. I'm not a fan.
- they got rid of the rich, moist chocolate cake
- their veggie soups are often pretty dull
HOWEVER, they do still have the mozzarella and tomato croissant which is one of the greatest hangover beaters known to man.
They definitely didn't about 8 years ago. When Eat first started (which was around the same period I guess) Eat were much less good too.
The fact they (and now Starbucks) use those machines is why Costa and Nero make a point that they don't.
to not burn coffee.
Flat whites are for pussys
I do love a good Pret. The soups, and the avocado and herb wrap really does it for me. And those vegetable crisps! MMMM hungry...
It was that MacDonald's had a non-controlling share in them. It was so non-controlling my sister wasn't able to use her Maccy D's manager's card to get a discount when she worked there.
They do soups and coffees and the like too.
Rob's Aussie so I think his point was more, WTF are you talking about?
I'm grumbling because there ain't no Pret near where I'm working
I'm not a passionate enthusiast but I'll happily get lunch in there once in a while.
bit pricey though.
EAT is rubbish.
with names I don't know how to pronounce.
I like their hot wraps. Agree with meow that their coffee is the best of the popular chains, but I'll usually hold out for Taylor street Baristas for coffee, which is usually where I lunch too because it's part of my office, I'm lazy, and hot barista works there.
They do double shots as standard AND I LIKE TO LIVE ON THE EDGE
After 10 coffees you get the 11th free. And on the free one they actively encourage you to go absolutely nuts. I had one on Friday had about 11 shots of espresso in, I was in another dimension
SO basically, my Friday coffees are free <3
Their lattes are shit.
The only reason I ever went in them so much was I wanted a foursquare badge
I am just up the road from you now. I'm off Fenchurch Street! I could probably meet you for coffee one day.
Shelley came to meet me and JB for coffee last week and we had a lovely skive (ahem, work meeting) in there. let's do this soon, before I stop working in the office altogether :)
They look so pretty! (I'm a long black girl).
and then thought OH NO, that doesn't sound good. JFC.
*sings darts theme*
That said, I haven't been in one for a couple of years.
Try the new Chicken, stuffing and chutney. Very nice. The salads are also very good too. And as pioneers of the quality Christmas sandwich, I'll always have a soft spot for them.
I agree that they can be expensive though. Today I got a jacket potato, jumbo sausage roll and a chocolate brownie for £3.80 from my local independent. You can barely get a sandwich for that at Pret.
full on BOSH TASTIC
Was good. Although the filling had slipped so one end was just mayonnaise.
What's that? No I didn't have any of their shit crisps though, I went to the newsagent round the corner and bought some Beef & Mustard Brannigans. Yes.
Had something like a tiger prawn salad sandwich. Was ok but wasn't worth the £3.80 or something I paid. Came in a nice bag though.
Is it just for people who are too stuck up to go to Subway?
They gave me dry bread with tasteless rubbery cheese where the only taste came from odd mayonnaise they dribbled on it. I'm guessing this experience is why people will go to Pret.
Its been a long time since I got one though. I found the mexican cheese slices to be better though they probably don't do this everywhere.
...mainly out of curiosity. It was utter garbage; tasted of very little and fell apart - what do people like about Subway?
...a curry patty thing maybe?
I usually go for Italian B.M.T. or meatball marinara
I mean there isn't a sandwich I've ever had from Pret where the filling was disappointing in terms of having no taste or not working. I'm not a fan of the raw red onions but you couldn't describe it as bland.
They ask you too many fucking questions as well, just give me a shit sandwich and fuck off you stupid pricks, and don't get chippy just because I don't immediately know what kind of dry shitty bread I want.
My hearing is bad. I also get this at chillango but they're a bit closer to me so its not too bad and I know what to ask for now.
Subway is only good when I'm drunk.
Imagine asking a drunk person, pretty much ingredient by ingredient, what they want in their sandwich. Of the very few times I've been in there, the one when I was pissed was the worst.
[NB I do remember a friend going to one on a night out, coming out and offering me a bite of something that may have had meatballs in but definitely had about a litre of chilli. That was fucking ace.)
a massive fanny then they'll not need to ask you any questions.
you'd have to be the kind of bad idiot who regularly goes to Subway.
which she had toasted. No salad, no sauce, just cheese. They charged her nearly £5 for the privilege. £5 for rubbish cheese on toast. YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.
steak and cheese on italian herb and cheese bread, toasted with red onions, lettuce, tomato, jalepenos, and hot chili sauce.
Footlong and a big drink for £6.
everything but olives and mushrooms
'if you can't close it don't pass it to me'.
There's a girl in the Pret on Long Acre with quite large breasts for her build. Erm, cheers?
what a free-kick
keeper had no chance
is the only one I've been in, and both times I've been in and bought sandwiches there, they've made me literally sick.
One time in the office. One time on the way home from the office.
Both times projectile spewing. Fuck Pret.
what is it like? sandwiches? drinks? crisps? fruit?
