Oh The Pain. Do you think pre-internet peoples had pain like this and if so what form did it take?

waiting three years before seeing a film on video, if you were lucky enough to have a video rental place that stocked that title...
by the time the whole country has it the quality of video probably will have increased to the point where buffering still occurs.

you will get on the odd occasion a little lack of response from the server end but services such as Lovefilm and Netflix have proven that DVD quality streaming is very easy in some areas of the country. On the Xbox you pick a film and there it is, playing in less time then it take s to load up a DVD
and then realising the tape you want to use is at the end cos you've just watched something, so you have to rewind the E180 back to the start (or worse: gauging rewinding back to 0h30m cos you haven't yet watched that episode of heartbeat that's at the start of the tape)
and you need to FFWD through it, otherwise you'd be in the middle of track 2 when you turn it over
