films you thought were going to be brilliant but which ended up being just okayish.
The Good Shepherd.
The first hour-and-a-half are excellent, thought it was shaping up to be one of the best spy films i've seen. Matt Damon's brilliantly cold, and despite the fact that Angelina Jolie's in it i had high hopes.
Felt a bit short-changed by the end, though. Partly because the storyline didn't go the way i thought it was going to (e.g his whole marriage, family thing being a pre-planned Soviet stitch-up), but partly because i for some reason assumed the lad on the front cover was Gene Hackman and i was kinda waiting for him to pop up with loadsa gadgets (he.)
Still, at least Michael Gambon was in it, and it was cinematically good, OR SUTIN.
Could've been a classic, though, imho.
