What's your favourite rollercoaster?
I've been on Nemesis at Alton Towers, but I can't really remember it all that well. Interesting piece about it's creation here though: http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2012/mar/12/how-we-made-nemesis
I found Oblivion more memorable - that sheer drop makes your stomach flip like nothing else I've ever done.
All the ones at Disney are pretty shit. Where are some good ones? Pics and stuff would be nice.
People who are too chicken for rollercoasters can stay the hell out of this thread. Can you hold my coat though? Ta.

Nemesis at Alton Towers
Professor Burp's Bubble Works
<3 that ride
The Coney Island Cylone is pretty great
In this country, maybe Nemesis, or the Big One at Blackpool.
I've always wanted to try the big one.
OI OI
SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABBA
The Big One
Blackpool
from my limited experience probably dueling dragons
at universal orlando
The Saw one at Thorpe Park is great
A lot of the Thorpe Park ones look great
Not been yet but definitely will soon! Probably during school term-time, so I can actually get on stuff...
Colossus looks particularly good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6JQnvRef_M Those loops at 0:44! =-O
Tonnerre de Zeus, Parc Asterix.
One of the best wooden rollercoasters in the entire world, right there.
I am a bit of a Rollercoaster buff too
Have you been to Oakwood in Pembrokeshire?
Megafobia!
I used to go there loads!
The wooden one will always be my favourite rollercoaster ever, even if they built a bigger one afterwards. (I never went there after it opened, sadly)
Don't know how I forgot that
I vote that one too. The Goudurix also at Parc Asterix is pretty good as well.
Limited experiance
but it was probably Stealth, because y'know it was like the countdown, the fact they take the picture at take off (which provides great results) and the fact the is a chance you won't make it over the hill and fall backwards
Hulk
Islands of Adventure, Florida.
^ by faaaaaar
That was about 10 years ago though; I'm way too old for roller-coasters now. Went to Thorpe Park around a year back and it was one of the most miserable days of my life.
And the vast majority of my days are pretty miserable
I <3 roller coasters
Hey, Josh. Remember when we killed a bat?
I like Manta at Seaworld in Florida. And what's it called at Busch Gardens. And the new musicy one at Universal and and and... All of them
This year I am going to Thorpe Park.
Shiekra
That's not how you spell it.
Shiekra, is that the one where your dangling
over the abyss for like 8 seconds? Pooey pants that one.
I LOVED the Spiderman ride at Universal. Not technically a traditional roller coaster though.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket was tremendous - the song I picked to play was Rollin' by Limp Bizkit. It does not get much better than that folks.
Honourable mention for the Cheetah ride at Busch. Goes bloody fast.
Yes!! I made everyone get on the front.
They did not thank me at the top.
Noooo Spiderman scares the hell out of me.
I had Beastie Boys. We went back at night after some bit of booze. I can safely say it was one of the best things to happen.
I thought it was a pigeon.
Or a gull. Actually, I'm not sure we killed anything, it was just meow and michael getting their knickers in a twist while they held our coats like losers.
I've never been to Alton Towers
or Thorpe Park for that matter. I'm sad now.
Don't worry!
I am arranging an outing.
I live very near TP
(don't want to go with you though)
Yeah you do.
Hey baby you really
Got my tail in a spin
Hey baby I don't even
Know where to begin
But baby I got one thing
I want you to know
Wherever you go tell me
'Cause I'm gonna go
Exactly.
See you there.
Can we have ONE thread where you clit-sniffs don't turn it into an outing?!
Are you a bit upset that you don't get invited?
:(
:D
I just wanted to use the term clit-sniff.
Besides, I'll be living in London soon and eating at Bodeans with four times a week!
four-times-a-week is an excellent nickname.
Who for though?
The 'four times a week' Bodeans crew!
I like that mouse one on Brighton pier
that mouse looks so sad.
CRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAZY mouse
Life

That thread where Cronin is calling HoFo out
That's my favourite rollercoaster
Either that or The Grand National at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Top, that one
think it was called shockwave, the stand up one in drayton manor
THAT WAS FUN. i was on it on the year 8 school trip so that was...2001. i'd love to go again though :D
Megafobia at Oakwood is the hipster's choice
it is old school and made out of wood.
Nemesis at Alton Towers
the first 0.25 seconds of Rita: Queen of Speed are pretty good too.
Despite it not being dead scary or nothing
I have always enjoyed The Vampire at Chessington. It's good fun.
I haven't been to a theme park in forever.
I don't really dig loop the loops
I HAVE NEVER BEEN ON A ROLLERCOASTER
why
because we never went to theme parks when I was young
It wasn't ereally a family thing. And I've never been on an outing to one of these. I once queued up with my aunt at the glasgow garden festival in 1988 to go on the coco Cola rollercoaster, but unbeknownst to me she was pregnant with my wee cousin at teh wtime and it was a hot day and just as we got to the top of the queue my aunt fainted and we had to go to the st john's ambulance tent instead. The opportunity hasn't really risen since then.
Hold my coat? Ta.
Massively this
And make sure you're waving when I go past.
nonono, I'm not chicken, I'd love ot go on one!
I've just never ever been to a theme park before. I was made to go to art auctions or garden centres on the weekend as a child. fucking child abuse, that;s what it is.
Then you shall go to the ball.
Also not a rollercoaster, but I remember getting off Magic Carpet at Chessington when I went with some mates aged 16
And this guy Moley (so named because he had a massive mole on his face) profusely vomited McDonalds chocolate milkshake into a nearby bush after getting off
Also when I was young Chessington was exciting and Thorpe Park was shithouse
Now they've changed roles
Couldn't get planning permission for tall or loud rides at Chessington
so they switched roles!
Next to the blue water - the one only sissies ride...
I quite like the one in/outside the New York New York Casino in Vegas.
Mainly because it's rickety as fuck: very real chance that it'll fall to pieces whilst you're on it. Increases the thrill factor.
remember Goudirix at Parc Asterix was awesome
Saw's really good fun. used to love The Ultimate at lightwater valley when i was a relative nipper too
This one

Manta
at Sea World is my favourite, if i had a top 10 it would probably be -
1/ Manta (Sea World) Perfect, absoulte perfection, that first lift and going round the outside of the loop is unbeatable
2/ Duelling Dragons (IOA) the blue one (i think, the one that launches itself at a wall before the inverted loop)
3/ The Mummy (Universal Studios) pretty short, but quite intense
4/ Aerosmith Rock n roller coaster - (Disney Hollywood studios) LOVE the theming and the start and speed of it.
5/ Colossus (Thorpe Park) - that corkscrew bit on the back straight, not the most modern coaster, but it's a classic.
6/ Kraken (sea world) - Florida's highest coaster, love some of the big drops and it's got a massive loop.
7/ Sheikra (Busch Gardens) Love the hanging at the first drop, i'd been on Oblivion at Alton towers and hated it as it didnt do anything apart from the drop, Sheikra actually took the vertical drop and made it into a proper coaster. And the splash zone is fun.
8/ Stealth (Thorpe Park) Really should be twice the lenght, but it's a proper intense experience, i love you way i ALWAYS think i'm going to fall out at the top when you leave your seat before the twist to the descent.
9/ Big Thunder Mountain (disney world) the first real rollercoaster i ever went on, i still ride it whenever i can. no loops or anything and it's jerky as fuck, but it's a bonefide classic.
10/ Rip ride rocket (Universal studios) love the initial lift, and getting to choose the music.. always beastie boys for me. the coaster itself could be better but the bit that goes out the park is a nice touch.
Honourable mentions go to Hulk (universal) Montu (at Busch) Saw (Thorpe Park).. Gwazi at Busch is my least favourite, massive jerky mess of a wodden coaster, although i think they've referbed the cars since i was last on it and it's apprantly smoother.
Not a coaster, but nothing will touch Disney's Tower of Terror though as the best thrill ride, i could ride that 1000000 times and not get bored with it.
