No thread about the arrest of Rebekah Brooks? (again)

Body_In_The_Thames [Edit] [Delete] 16 replies 11:34, 13 March '12

and Charlie Brooks too of course ... wot a legernd

They must feel a bit let down by their mate Dave allowing such a thing to happen but then again he's out of the country on a jolly - probably a coincidence

so
Hackgate... everyone over this? Or is it really gonna bite some time soon?

  • just when poor old Charlie was getting so excited about Cheltenham :(

'The happiest moment of my year is about three hours before the first race at Cheltenham on Tuesday; queuing behind Alan Brazil for my, but not his, first pint of Guinness of the meeting.'

  • Can you imagine if the police asked Cameron to come in for questioning?

I doubt they'd ever arrest him, but how good would it be?

    • that would be free money for journalists if he was actually arrested (is that constitutionally possible even?)

surely he's close enough to the Brooks lot and to Andy wotsit to warrant some questioning at least no?

      • I think it's possible. He's not the queen, he's still a citizen and subject to the same laws as anyone else.

He's no different to Chris Huhne for example, and he's getting his day in court.

        • yeah, I guess - it's not

          • gah

            ... he's not Berlusconi

any history boffins or googlers want to tell me when the last time an acting Prime Minister was arrested in Britain?

            • I would guess at 'never'

        • he is only subject to the same laws as long as he agrees to that

pm's can change legal things with (Im not sure if its 3 or 4) a few cabinet ministers to be virtually anything (under emergency powers)

    • Blair went in for questioning over cash for honours, didn't he?

He wasn't arrested, but I believe he was asked by the police.

  • I afraid you will just have to accept that this was, is, and always will be a non-stroy.
