Game Of Thrones - Season 2
It is starting on the 1st of April isn't it? Yes, it is.
How do you think this second series will compare to the first series? I have a feeling it is going to be a lot better. Anything that has dragons in is always better!

Reign of Fire begs to differ
I thought this as I was writing it, but,
that was a one off film
Dungeons & Dragons the movie begs to differ, then.
Age of Dragons begs to differ

The previews are looking pretty good
But seems (unsurprisingly) like they're giving Dany more stuff which is kind of annoying. Though if that's going alongside increasing the Renly/Tyrell stuff I guess I'll take it.
I still don't get why my enthusiasm dropped quite as quickly as it did with the show. I liked it a lot, and it's been very faithful to the books, but I went from being totally invested in it all / following all the production from the initial casting to the series start to not caring about seeing an episode until weeks late and not engaging in any discussion about it :-\
Still kind of mildly excited though. Given GoT is primarily a Stark book, and I only really care about one of them, I'll probably be into this season more. Hopefully.
Not sure if it'll be better though. GoT has a reasonably narrow perspective, and from CoK that totally goes. We'll see.
Also, big fan of the way it seems they're presenting Margaery
That said, there's a couple of things they seem to be either changing
or interpreting differently to me that I'm not a fan of. More so than in the first season.
This confuses me (in general)
The idea of following the production process/casting etc. Does anyone enjoy just watching things without peeking behind the curtain?
I'm aware that this post was made a month ago and no-one will read my reply, but you know, pop will eat itself etc etc.
i read your reply
Should I bother?
no
I can't recall ever being so excited for a series to start.
I'm planning on a catch up marathon the week before it starts.
I don't know
Breaking Bad or Sherlock were quite pre-cummed
One things for sure
Batman fucked up when he gave that little shit that gadget!
The little king in GOT was the kid Battyman gave his gadget to in Battyman Begins
cant wait for the new series
deanerys = sexy bitch
daenerys is going to get her dragons out for the lads
It is not long
now
nobody start another thread on Sunday
because this one is here
yeah
Okay, that was incredible
Insanely epic and... just wow. Pretty surprised at how perfect it was, looked SO much better than the first season (which I still liked a lot). Loving all the characters, even the ones I really can't stand in the book.
The music works brilliantly too. I know last time it was very last minute, but I was still disappointed by it.
I'll avoid details until after UK airing, just needed to BDSJGEFOMGOMG a bit.
BDSJGEFOMGOMG INDEED.
OH MAN.
what does that stand for|?!?!
Bloody dickhead selfish Joffrey gets extremely fixated on mother’s glands oh my god
Ahhh how i've missed this intro music.
It's just starting, shhh.
I was all out flailing when Dragonstone came up in the opening
Can't wait for the other new ones.
I love it, it really sets the scene
this spring, winter is coming!
i was really hoping to see this in the adverts :(
Finished watching the first series yesterday.
I'm gonna end up downloading the second series, no matter how hard I try to be good.
Anyone see Catelyn Stark in the Metro today?
WOW.
Holy shit that was good.
Absolutely amazing. A couple of things:
- Kings Landing looks completely different to season 1, but I like it. Really want to go to Dubrovnik now.
- Stannis' introduction was immense. That witchy kinda lady was really cool and creepy.
- If you have access to a projector and a good sound system, use it. This shit is just way too cinematic for tv. Come to my house if you want.
- The music was really great.
- Joffrey's acting has improved and he is still a magnificent cunt.
- I don't know how they're going to have enough time for all these strands. I really hope they don't drop the ball.
Yes, well good
Since I'm not an obsessive...with so many characters and subplots, it got a little confusing at times. Violent and sexy...yeah, thumbs up.
Everything looks better.
Even CGI Grey Wind looked pretty good. Only minor complaint was stock actor, Tony Way, playing Dontos. Bit young isn't he? Nit picking...
Also briefly thought there weren't going to be any tits.
That was excellent
felt a lot darker in tone.
The guy who plays Joffrey is incredible.
He really is
I can't restrain myself from muttering "Fuck off Joffrey, you prick" every time he's on screen, which I guess the actor would take as a compliment.
tower of the hand did a poll of best/hated characters
Each person allowed to nominate 5 for each side
90% of respondents gave Joffrey a vote for most hated :D
It's rare that I'll watch an entire series of a TV show and love every episode.
It's even rarer that I'll watch the opening episode of the second series and decide to stick with it. But that's what I'll be doing. Game of Thrones has killed my TV snobbery.
it was alright
everything seemed very rushed, trying to fit sooooo much in one episode. I think i would have struggled to keep up if i hadn't read the books
But on the other hand, but doing that they managed to set up an awful lot of plots.
I haven't read the books but didn't really struggle.
Learnt during season 1 that it's one of those shows where you have to pay attention to absolutely everything, otherwise you'll be punished down the line. Fortunately it's so well written and acted, and the production values are ridiculously high, that you don't want to look away.
yeah, this
I was worried I'd spend most of the episode trying to remember who the approx one thousand characters were and what they'd done last season and completely fail to keep up with it, but neither really happened. Worked well at re-bedding you in to the show and setting stuff up.
Also, loved how it started with a scene of Joffrey being an obnoxious little prick.
Interesting
Some good, some not so good. It was very rushed, but there's a LOT of table setting to be done as the plot explodes in scale in this season.
+ Great intro to Mel. They've absolutely nailed Stannis. LOVED his arguing over the letter. Insulting Jaime, but then making sure they added his proper title of Ser. Completely sums him up.
+ Davos is one of my favourite characters. Liam Cunningham is one of my favourite actors. great start
+Tyrion's whistling coming into the small council meeting. He's very prominent in this season, and Dinklage's acting has definitely earned him that top billing
+The start of Sansa actually being interesting
+They've got Robb's public confidence with his personal worries absolutely spot on
+Thrilling ending to set up Arya's story for next week
-God Catelyn is annoying
-CGI Grey Wind looked a bit shit. Dragons looked slightly better
[HERE BE MILD SPOILERS]
- The scenes between Robb and Theon massively set up what's to follow beautifully
I didn't like that scene between Rob and Theon
it seemed so heavy handed. I think because they've got to fit all the plots into just 10 hours of tv, there will be loads of bits that are rushed and glossed over in a handful of lines, and it may not prove very satisfying to watch.
i sound like a right moany, critical bastard in this thread, but i luvs Game of Thrones I do.
Its a fair point though
Alot of the subpolts and developments will be lost. A feast of crows will suffer the most from this when it gets adapted
Watched this last night...
Honestly don't know how it will get more awesome than that.
(mini-spoiler...)
what was with the fella committing suicide to try and poision the witchy-type?
I've only read the first book :(
He was the Maester of Dragonstone
Basically he doesn't approve with the "blaspheme" of following the "Lord of light" instead of the 7 gods of Westros. Plus he mistrusts Melisandre and her motives, and thinks he is defending his Lord by attempting to kill her.
He thought it would poison her as well, but she was immune
Yeah I did think at this moment that there would be an epic amount of back story in the books.
I thought she switched the cups somehow?
Nope.
http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Maester_Cressen
That is what happens in the book I think
Didn't look like that on the tele box
She clearly built up immunity to iocane powder...
INCONCIEVABLE
First time I've seen this hbo special thingy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dku_Uya8Ygc&list=PL92FFA74CE8BD6984&index=1&feature=plpp_video
lovely.
Watched episode 1 last night
Crammed alot into an hour, which may be a gripe as this season progresses. But it did a great job of re-introducing the old characters and introducing the new. Stannis/Davos/Melisandre are spot on
Ending was pretty shocking (my wife had to turn away)
Scene between Littlefinger and Cersei is not one I remember from the book, but sets up beautifully what will go on between them later on
Yeah, the ending was brutal.
yep
first time in a long time I've let out an audible yelp at t'telly.
Yeah I thought it was pretty mental...but all the same called for.
I like it when they go beyond the book POVs and show us stuff that we only hear about in the books
like Varys and Littlefinger's tete et tetes last season, and the killing of Robert's bastards which is just flippantly mentioned by someone to Tyrion in the book in the show creates a shocking moment that perfectly sets up Arya's story
Also, Littlefinger fucking rocks
I decided after FoC that he is my favourite character, followed closely by Tyrion
He'd be even better if Aidan Gillen wasn't such a shit actor
NOT this
Big fan of him, he has the part 100% spot on
Didn't realise Littlefinger was supposed to be a stroke survivor with a wandering accent
Anyway, I'll stop now.
oooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo
Should have been Tom Hollander
All the other casting is absolutely slamdunking though so I shan't moan on.
A bit like The Joker in The Dark Knight
His plans rely far too much on coincidence/everyone acting exactly how he predicts, but he's such a showman you put those thoughts to one side
I think the point is
They are all very predictable in their behaviour. He just uses this to his advantage. He warned Ned as much in GoT
But say for instance there is no way he could know Catelyn would meet Tyrion in that inn
I do like it however when he says *I was playing a longer game, but it turns out Cersei's batshit mental so we've had to speed along a bit*
Aye
But this fits in with his "playing the long game but having to speed things up when things change"
My top 5
Barristan the Bold
Davos
Jaime
Tyrion (though in ADWD he began to bore me with the endless repetition of *where do whores go* )
I don't want to say Jon because I want to seem interesting but Jon is that rare example of a portagonist who isn't a total plum and a plot vehicle who you actually root for.
I also enjoy Brienne (minus the *I am looking for a maid*) The Hound, Lord Dondarrion and Thoros of Myr, Victarian Greyjoy and Arya. I have a begrudging respect for Tywin Lannister. Yeah, he's a total cunt but WHAT a cunt
Hated
Catelyn
Joffrey
Lysa
Cersei
Pycelle
Good list
Apart from missing out Littlefinger for the top 5 and probably Jon Snow, its about what I would say
Ah yeah been meaning to ask this.
How'd they know which ones were Rob's bastards? And what's the time line here? That baby looked pretty new.
Am I being stupid?
..
I think the point is, everyone knew Robert was fucking around with hookers etc. Littlefinger/Varys would be able to find out pretty quickly how to find the children.
Timeline is very soon after Roberts death, maybe a few weeks
Jon Arryn knew who they all were didn't he?
kept a vague on them, like Gendry. If he knew others must have too.
Aye, this as well
I think the point is...
FFS
:(
Also Jon Arryn had tracked them all down
And was being watched by Baelish and Varys
Ned met that baby towards the end of season 1
Loved it
The extra money was well spent. It just all looked so bloody MASSIVE.
Went on a complete Game of Thrones marathon
watched the whole first series yesterday, episode 1 series 2 today.
SO GOOD.
Arya's clearly the best character. Isn't she. I really hope the whole thing goes on long enough for her to be old enough to become awesome at killing people.
She's closely followed by dwarf guy. Also the old captain of the guard (i think?) who got told to quit by bitchfuck and her twat kid (i can't remember names in films/tv ever). I really really hope he comes back into it at some point and dicks some cunts over.
:D He does come back
Though I don't know how they'll deal with it in this!
Guys
episode two has been leaked early. :D
O RLY?
Got a link/torrent that's legit?
I'm streaming from the top one
http://watchseries.eu/episode/game_of_thrones_s2_e2-159162.html
is the quality any good?
Yes it's fine
absolutely fine.
boring episode though
sorry
I thought it was OK, it's hardly a slayer-a-minute kind of show is it?
I love how they are hinting at magic/evil north of the wall but unlike most shows it is all held back.
I almost wish I'd not started watching it till series 4.
guess there was alot of ground-laying (?) to do
due to the format - as opposed to the richer book - but still a bit of a stinker.
Hating Theon, what a douche.
Yeah he's a little bitch, I used to like him.
Not to mention the sister issue.
Is there any hope that Ned will come back from the dead?
Definitely the worst episode of the whole thing so far
so many pointless scenes. I never thought i'd get bored of tits, but... here we are.
i really like this show
but i've read through this entire thread and the overwhelming thought is.. "WHO?"
so episode 2
**SPOILERS**
I don't trust my memory anymore. There seemed to be a few things happening in this episode that I don't remember from the books.
- Rakharo coming back to Dany on his horse, with just his head and without the rest of this body. That didn't happen did it?
- Jon Snow seeing Craster take a baby boy out to a 'white'. Did that happen? I can't remember if the book ever explicitly said what happened to the boys, let alone Jon witnessing it.
anyway, Jagan H'gar seemed pretty cool. Shame there wasn't more of him, and it was good to hear someone say that name outloud.
Theon is a bellend.
Apparently the actor playing Rakharo has been cast in some Hollywood blockbuster
so they had to kill him off.
that definitely didn't happen in the book!
heh
*theo
In the books Craster is leaving the boys out for the Others
But you don't find this out until later IIRC
seen the first two episodes and it seems great
(and I didnt really catch the first series)
So I have been desperately trying to catch up with the history and whos who and maps and stuff.
Its a bit embarrising to watch it with my 14 year old though
lots of boobs
:D
they were not the embarrising things
it was more the movements.....the noises
It was ok
Littlefinger's scene with the crying girl was pretty menacing. Theon is a bit of a tool, though. Seemed a lot of it was aimed at setting out why tensions existed such as between Tyrion and the rest of the fam...not just cos he's a dwarf.
Fully expecting to get punched in the stomach by it next week.
towards the end of that Littlefinger scene
i realised I'd just been staring blankly at the screen, not paying attention, so i have no idea what he actually said.
Nothing important.
I always read the AV Club reviews after
And found it interesting how different the scores were for the newbies and the experts reviews.
After reading on here it was boring, I was surprised because I really enjoyed it.
Surprised they went all out with Stannis boning Melisandre. It was kind of weirdly hinted at in the book in a have they haven't they. Interesting that they seem to have written Stannis' daughter out completely. Also LOVED Mel's little aside to Davos' son.
Theon is totally the most tragic character in the entire thing. Yeah it's masked by him being a complete tosser, but he's a child of two worlds, accepted by none. Balon Greyjoy is perfect. Yara/Asha is not. SHE LOOKS ALL WRONG. Also I buy changing the name cos it was too similar to Osha - WHY MAKE IT SOUND EXACTLY LIKE ARYA THEN?!
I was completely confused as for some reason
the site I watch GOT on, posted this week's episode, last week. So when I sat down to watch this week's I was confused.
Anyway, that being said. Loved/was a little grossed out that Theon's sister allowed him to feel her up knowing she knew who he was.
The guy sexing his daughters and feeding his sons to the white walkers was all right though?
:)
he got his fill in the end:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=lKuYHT4z_2U#t=27s
Wine!
It ripped Caligula off something cronic, mind.
I kept thinking of this scene too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrXXWdCZ3x4&feature=player_detailpage#t=477s
Had to stop the episode half way through
because I was crying my eyes out by the end of Sansa's scene. Incredible acting... the number of things she could convey with just her eyes... A little too good though, because I wreck for about fifteen minutes.
And I hated myself for not being able to give her a hug :-(
***Mini spoliers for those not seen the latest episode***
Good to see Brienne make an apperance, got the size of her right (massive) but thought she'd be uglier.
Magaery is sexy.
good episode.. lots of build up and dialog, going to kick off in the next few eipsodes.
not too impressed by littlefinger but do look how they've captured Varys though
Brienne was huge! About three Catelyns
Getting the attractiveness right is proving tough. Asha and Loras are too ugly, Brienne and Tyrion too good looking.
agree with all of this
although Im waiting on Tyrion having his face smashed in before deciding if hes ugly enough.
Yup
I'd like to see him do some tumbling too
i want to see him ride a dragon
and up with calesee
... calesee?
think he means dany
who was drogos Khalesee (sp?)
i do mean her sorry never read the book to know the spelling
ah, OK
Really really enjoyed this
Especially in how its very clearly built up. Loved the way they did certain scenes to reflect what people thought in the book. Especially liked the way they presented Tyrion lying to Varys, Littlefinger and Pycelle to snare which one was snitching to the Queen.
Excellent episode
I really like how they're telescoping time and tidying the storylines up for TV - i.e not having Arya wander around aimlessly, Tyrion testing the small council (that went on for ages in the book, yet here condensed into one fabulous scene).
The Theon scenes were magnificent. Despite being a colossal dick, he is the most tragic character in the books. A child of two worlds, despised by both.
And I really enjoy what they've done with Renly/Margaery/Loras. Obviously as they're not POVs in the books you just guess at this stuff, and I really like it when the show, takes stuff that's hinted out but puts it front and centre
Also
*Carry him, he said* :'''(
Yoren's story foretelling Arya's little prayer :''''(
That last scene was so bleak
*puts out front and centre
in the case of margaery.
well it's just in ACOK Margaery is totally underwritten
But in later books she's quite the politician. Surely she must have known about Renly and Loras
I like how they've retrofitted the character
i completely agree
i thought the scene was well constructed, and positively subtle when compared to the use of sex in virtually every other storyline of the series.
i just couldn't resist the pun.
And quite decent to offer her fanny to a willy covered in her brother's chocolate
Yoren, you double hard bastard
man
theon can not act
Littlefinger was pretty woeful in this episode too
THIS episode?!
He's howling in the whole series
I don't get the hate for Aiden Gillen here
I think he has Littlefinger nailed
Plus the accent stuff is daft as well - he lives in a FANTASY world, it's not a real place. His accent is irrelevent
And it's no worse than Tyrion's but nobody really complains about Dinklage
The way he said ""vast"" (I think) this week was crazy. Don't care though.
i don't mind gillen either
but in this episode his accent was everywhere. From genteel englishman to drunk irishman.
^ he's been fine afaic
theon chap is real bad though, it looks like he's reading the lines right of the bloody page... i'm not imagining him being a bit of a pimp in the books either am i? it seems there was a concious decision to turn him into a bugeyed bum-fluff bearded guy who can't get his words out.
although *spoilerish*
he'll probably be well suited to the bastard
I don't care which accent he has
I just want him to fucking pick one and stick to it.
The fuck was up with Littlefinger's accent.
good stuff
Sansa is becoming itneresting. Girl can act, can't she? Also starting to feel sorry for Theon. Never felt anything towards me before but he seems a very tragic character. Someone with no home.
Kinda hoping Renly and his lot will get smashed into smithereens.
yesterday while stumped for something to watch while m'dinner cooked
I watched Thronecast on Sky Anytime
DO NOT EVER WATCH THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
it's pretty much 15 minutes of pointless filler. The highlight was some fat nerd prick singing Twinkle Twinkle Litte Star in Dothraki, and a whole 2 question interview with George RR Martin - one of which was 'did you read the books before you worked on the tv show'...'lol'
Very enjoyable episode
As mentioned, the Tyrion scene with Pycelle, Varys and Littlefinger was superb. Seems really obvious to do it that way when you watch it but I bet it wasn't. Great work from the writers there.
Arya and Yoren was magnificent too. Everything about that last scene.
Good to see Brienne. Actress has nailed her attitude perfectly.
Sansa was excellent but this grumpy, boring, spoilt Shae can fucking do one. Someone tell Tywin she's about so she can get killed off please.
Joffrey graduates to "arch-prick" in this episode
and there's some absolute nightmare fuel in the final scene.
GOOD STUFF.
WHAT THE ABSOLUTE SHIT JUST HAPPENED
– me, watching that last scene.
I didn't think Joffrey could get much worse, but jesus christ, someone needs to shove a sword up that boy's nose sometime pronto.
You can't cure being a cunt
(or something to that effect)
:DD
The birth scene
DD:
they're getting stuff wrong
it's annoying. especially if that girl is jeyne.
It's hardly massive though is it?
And more a deviation than an error. I don't mind thing like this if it helps make things easier to follow
This was ace
might send the joffrey actor some hate mail or something. Really wet hate mail. BE NICER, PLEEEEEEEEASE. YOUR CHARACTER MAKES ME FEEL REALLY SAD.
Arya's the best and i hope she becomes taiwan's handmade or something then fucks everyone up in series 3 somehow, that would be great.
taiwan
handmade
Stannis correcting Davros' grammar <3
That last scene </3
Really nightmare inducing episode, that. Amputation, rats burrowing your stomach, priestess lady...doing wtf in the last scene. I mean I have no idea what has happened. But it's compulsive viewing.
In other news, my dad has finished a Clash of Kings, so gonna read that over the next fortnight \o/
Good god, Joffrey.
What film is it where they talk about the 'rat in a bucket' torture as demonstrated in this episode? It's really annoying me trying to remember.
I really liked:
The Quarthians(?), top quality thesping by that bald guy.
Stannis and Renly's face off
Tywin's appearance. Always happy to see Charles Dance's name appear in the credits.
The ending D:
Nm, it was 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Now I'm even more annoyed.
prediction ginger wife to be kills Joffrey
I didn't even spot the new Mountain that everyone is slagging off
Thought it was still Amory Lorch. I need to see this beanpole again.
It was a pretty good quality shadow baby.
shadow baby in the book was a bit vague
The show's version was so utterly horrifying it was amazing. Davos' reaction!
I also liked Dany
*Sorry, I can't show you my dragons, they spent all the effects budget on Melisandre's pussy monster*
The season is really picking up steam now
Really liked
-Robb is too much of a good guy, so that scene highlights his political failures despite his massive battlefield prowess. His father's son
- The opening fart jokes then getting torn apart by Grey Wind scene was brilliant
- Joffrey upping his game. Bronn's *cure* line :''D
- Arya and Robb's window into the smallfolk, and how for them it makes little difference who's on the throne but for how much they suffer
- Harrenhal looks absolutely PERFECT
- Charles Dance is so delightfully bad ass as Tywin
-Roose Bolton seems suitably unsettling on first impression
- Stannis' correction of Davos. He's so wonderfully petty
Gripes:
- No Renly offering Stannis a peach! I was looking forward to the bit where Stannis agonisies over what the peach symbolises
That 'cure' line was amazing.
It's getting darker, that rat bit was savage.
my flatmate turned away when they were chopping that lad's foot off
turned out to be one of the least unsettling bits in the episode.
both Harrenhal and Qarth
looked amazing!
the actor that plays Joffrey
is also the cowering little boy that Katie Holmes protects at the end of Batman Begins. Not so intimidating now, are we Joffrey!!
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4332732#r6637102
yeah, that's what i said
stop copying me
When are we going to see massive battles and White walkers fucking whole villages up and dragons setting fire to castles?
Massive battles - I believe episode 9
I think they've spent something like 25% of the total budget on that episode I vaguely recall reading
The others I'm not going to say for fear of spoiling
Although he may be wasting his time if that's what he's mainly after
Anyone watched yesterday's/today's yet?
blimey
[spoiler alerts!!!!]
that's a hell of a way to start an episode. Was that a bit of the bayeux tapestry in the background when Loras was at Renly's bedside?
I think I like theon. Everyone just seems to hate him, poor bastard.
highlights:
- Stannis becoming really cold. Like he was ever father christmas etc i get it i know.
- Finchy! Wish he had told Theon to kiss him on the nose though :(
- Tywin, just being the boss as per.
questions:
who was the guy in the cage, who then kills that fella for arya? Why wasn't he a prisoner? Was he a lannister man in the first place?
he was a 'special' prisoner
An extremely dangerous prisoner.
i meant, why wasn't he imprisoned at harrenhal?
tbh i'm just wondering if i've missed something, of this element of mystique about him is supposed to be.
He wasn't caught along with the rest of them
i guess he just followed arya to repay his debt or whatever.
Great episode btw
oh yes of course
still, mysterials.
That was Jaqen H'ghar who is an international man of mystery
don't want to spoil anything but he was a prisoner and not a Lannister man, he's quite slippery/elusive.
I assume... Haven't seen the episode.
there was not much nudity
made me sad.
I can sort of guess what's gonna happen with that murderer guy that's semi-befriended arya
he's gonna murder the guy that has aryas sword, then she's gonna ask him to kill joffrey. Isn't she.
Arya and Tyrion completely make this show. Without them it'd be NOTHING. Loved the little scene where she was telling blacksmith guy how to sword fight. And Tyrion's generally great, but i'm waiting for the INEVITABLE day where he becomes a complete bastard.
they're great
but to say the show would be nothing without them is a pack of bullshit lies, sir.
so is that black thing that stabbed that guy now gone?
or can it be summoned up again or something?
I get that this is a fantasy thing and that there is loads of supernatural stuff going on, but that seemed a bit ridiculous.
Well
Actually the point of ASOIAF is that magic hasn't existed in the world for centuries so people don't believe in it any more, so when it does happen it should appear crazy and out of the norm
Also, in case you didn't join the dots
The thing was the shadow of Stannis from him boffing Mel.
It appears twice in the books, but Renly's death was the second so don't think it'll be around again
twice?
what was the first one?
The castellean of storms end
In the book STANNIS lands there first and takes the castle to get edric storm then meets renly
oh yeah, i remember now
...
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/534087_439523956077063_205344452828349_1559576_1460609317_n.jpg
shurely shome more opinions on this?
I hate the guy on the Guardian blog who pretends to be Stannis.
Really? Someone's actually doing that? Ugh.
I hate him too.
Renly :(
I liked him, he had a nice face.
And if he'd won everything would've been alright
Which is probably why Martin killed him off.
Also he had absolutely zero claim to the throne, the chippy prick
he was still a child
the way he acted. Like he was playing at being king, holding tourneys and wearing a crown ... like something a child would do.
Bit rushed this week
But there's so much to cram in
Highlights
Jaqen! *A man knows*
Arya vs Tywin
Demon Monkey
Fist of the First Men looks AMAZING
Stannis and Davos. Stannis is an unrelenting man, but he always listens to Davos, because Davos is the only one who tells him what he doesn't want to hear
First mention of Blackwater!
Demon monkey! :D
watched it the other night
cant believe finchy showed up. danys bit is getting boring. want her bit to speed up. rest of it is coming along nicely.
Like how they have given maegery a bit of an edge in her bit with littlefinger, not wanting to be a queen, wanting to be THE queen etc.
*POTENTIAL SPOILER*
I cant remember in the books if they said mance was a turncloak so quickly, was surprised they mentioned it last night, I thought it wasnt until later
Yes, I don't think you find out about Mance until later in the books
I have to say I'm really enjoying the Dany scenes. I know what you mean, not a great deal happens but I still like them. The Dothraki riders were particularly excellent in this episode.
when got handed a drink and he threw it out and inspected the cup :D
:D
An exasperated, yet amused, Jorah explaining to Dany what the two riders were arguing about by the golden peacock statue.
*These are our hosts! We are NOT stealing from them!*
*Fine, we'll just take it when we leave*
I just wonder how they are going to do the bit
where it goes all trippy with her when shes trapped in that weird place.
Good point. Budgetary constraints and all.
Maybe they'll do it just with her giving an account of it to Jorah or whoever. But then again I'm sure they can come up with something a little better than that. The warlock guy is excellent looking so they need to use that bad boy effectively.
Surely you can CGI the fuck out of that and as it it's trippy it doesn't matter if it looks fake
Easier than a huge sea battle.
no doubt they'll be able to do it
just wondering what it will look like, I can picture the sea battles quite well but that bit of the book really got my imagination.
Reminds me, really liked Tyrions sellsword this episode, with the pyromancer etc
Not that I spotted it at the time
But the ranting geezer who called Tyrion monkey demon was Ed Tudor Pole.
really :-0
I missed that too
I KNEW i recognised him, just couldn't place him
"we've had vicious kings, and we've had idiot kings, but I don't know if we've ever been cursed by a vicious idiot boy king!"
"THEY ATTACKED ME!"
"THEY THREW A COW PIE AT YOU"
<3
Kinda dislike that Osha's role in deceiving Theon was reduced to fucking him
Or the Jon/Ygritte thing not starting as a display of mercy on his part(although this at least might be entertaining).
THIS IS A MASSIVE SPOILER, GUYS
(sorry)
any sympathy i once had with theon...
has gone. What a complete turnip.
Still loving Tyrion and Tywin. Such strong characters.
Tywin's much more sympathetic in the series than in the books
It's an interesting change. Will be interesting to see how it develops.
I think it's cos in the book you basically just see Tywin through Tyrion's eyes
And obviously they hate each other
Yep.
If you were a Lannister apologist, and even if you had only read the books, I reckon you could still make the case that Tywin (and Cersei for that matter) only do what they believe is right for their family - even if that comes at the expense of virtually everyone else.
I think Tywin is really excellently cast and played
I thought in the books he always seemed like an incredibly principled man, more measured and considered that the other Lannisters (well i guess i only mean Jamie and Cersei), and less arrogant too. And although ruthless to his enemies, he wasn't necessarily unpleasant generally...and that seems exactly how he is on the telly box.
he just commands respect
he's played with such authority and to be honest he's probably the most intimidating character in the book. Obviously the fellas doing the butchering and pillaging and that all make for goryness galore, but you just KNOW that he has more power than any of them put together. You can see in the faces of his council how afraid/respectful they are.
Also I've completely fallen hopelessly in love with whoever it is who plays
Ygritte.
enjoyed this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_N9M4R47nRU
I like the show but it seems as if each episode should be two hours or the series should have 14 or more eps
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN8PKcNGcuI
Everytime it ends and it is, "holy shit!!! what WILL happen next!!?!" and then the next episode sort of ignores what just happened at the end of the last one nearly always.
Nice to see Chris Finch turn up :)
A bloody one
They nailed the High Septon getting torn apart
<3 Clegane saving Sansa
Tyrion slapping Joffrey
They've jiggled Rodrik's death around - happened a lot later in the books
I'm really excited about Dany going to the House of the Undying. I hope they make it proper trippy.
I actually shuddered when Roose Bolton mentioned his bastard. Wanted to shout *DON'T CALL HIM THAT*
I was pretty much in love with Ygritte in the book
Yeah, Rodriks death in the show
Was Mikken (the blacksmith) in the book I think
Also, I don't remember the bit with Dany, the dragons and the Khalaser in the book? Offing teh foxy handmaids is a definite no no
As a side bar, just finished Dance of Dragons: utter fucking twat of an ending
I think the dragon stealing was invented to give Dany a compelling reason to go to the house of the undying
As in the book I had literally no idea why she went in
Non-spoiler question about the books:
How many years have passed by over the course of the books up to the most recent one? Will we see the Stark kids all grown up?
Who am I kidding? They'll probably all get an axe to the face by the end of this season :(
Maybe 2 or 3: i.e. not very long
Unless someone corrects me
My understanding was each book was supposed to be about a year
He was going to put a five year gap in to grow the Stark kids up, but was writing so much flashback that he just decided to write the in between and gift us the tedium that was A Feast for Crows
Harrenhal looks incredible in the beginning of this week's episode
wtf is going on with dany
quite like it. never really that into her chapters in the next couple of books, all very vague LEARNING HOW TO BE A LEADER stuff, reckon this could give it a bit more propulsion like. xaro's not gonna get to say <blue lips speak only lies> though. bummer, good line.
you know nothing jon snow. <3
like that they're ranking up the evil on the lannister side of things, tywin was getting all kindly-uncle. jaime is a fucking hero.
SLIGHT SPOILERS
does jaime and brienne start in earnest this book or the next?
the girl who plays arya is fucking brill. arya & tywin spinoff please.
more the next book Id say
jaime spends most of his time in this book locked up from what I remember
I like that they've actually given Dany a compelling reason to go somewhere called THE HOUSE OF THE UNDYING
beyond pure shabs and bants which is what it felt like in the book
oh yeah
i though cersei was pretty rubbish at acting in the first series but the scenes with tyrion and sansa were really well played.
That ending :(((((
Hoping it was ambiguous for a reason and it wasn't who it wanted you to think it was :((
Some great scenes in the episode: Dog talking to Sansa, Ygritte teasing Jon Snow, Jaime having a heart to heart and then killing his cousin, Cersei further admitting Joffrey is a cunt, Arya and Uncle Tywin. Love this show.
Holy fucking shit.
Probably the best episode of the entire thing. Jesus fucking christ.
FUCK.
One thing
at the end, why did Theon look so shocked? Was he expecting something else?
Shit man.
The bodies, Theon's face, the music, the fade to credits. That was powerful.
Yeah man
one of the few things that's really, REALLY shocked me on TV in a long while. The horror just kept dawning on me all the way through the credits.
blatantly not them though
he couldn't find them, so burnt some orphan boys instead.
BLATANTLY
Yeah I hope it's only two random children we don't know that have been brutally murdered
I think he/she was mocking the story or plan rather than the deaths
they made mention in the episode of two boys sent to that farm they went past
I assume Theon just looked horrified at what he'd become.
Also, the dining scene between Tywin and Arya - how good?
Charles Dance is just bossing this isn't he?
The man just exudes power. Not to take anything away from the girl who plays Arya, she's fantastic. But a class act is a class act.
Think he's my favourite character so far. Him or Jaime. Or Tyrion.
Cersei also vaguely resembled a human at points in this episode.
Charles Dance is so utterly Tywin Lannister it's untrue
From his first appearance where he was symbolically gutting a stag and berating Jaime I was like *OF COURSE!*
FUCK
I love the wolf handle on John Snow's sword, I think Mormont was taking the piss.
I'm getting a bit fed up with the Arya Tywin acting masterclass. Yeah, yeah you're great but it's all entirely pointless unless they are going to be diverging from the books.
The Quarth divergence was pretty good, far more exciting.
Qarth.
I blame Quaithe
I just wanted to make a joke about the fat toad guy correcting Daenerys's punctuation
It probably doesn't work written down, does it.
that heart to heart between Cersei and Tyrion
was there supposed to be a hint of sexual tension at the end?
i guess i just expect everyone to have sex with everyone in that show
i think it was more tension
to do with the fact that they hate each other, but after the heart-to-heart and Cersei crying Tyrion went over instinctively to comfort her, got there and was like 'hmmm but I hate you'
i think.
but he might have had a lob on while he was there, idk.
i think Dog had a stiffy when he was talking to sarnsee (whatever) about the joy of killing
New Gregor Clegane isn't very intimidating, is he?
No!
The other Mountain was fucking hench.
This guy is supposed to be evil personified, and he's just a tall bloke with a gruff voice
I keep forgetting that he's supposed to be the Mountain until someone mentions it in a blog
Also he's basically doing the Christian Bale Batman voice. I'M NOT WEARING HOCKEY PANTS.
A top episode where the plot fell back for a week and we were reminded what amazing characters this world is inhabited by
My only worries
- They're making Jaime too much of a prick
- Likewise they're making Cersei too likeable. She's a mentally unhinged nutjob
- Dunno what they're doing with Jon Snow's story but they better not mess up what was one of the books' most powerful moments.
My biggest concern is they're not fully setting up the sense of impending doom of Stannis' arrival at Kings Landing. The best part of a Clash of Kings for me was everyone's sensation of *FUCK, WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE* as Tyrion desperately tries to fashion a defence of a King everyone hates
I dunno
I'm only halfway through Clash Of Kings, the book, so can't really know much about how the stories are diverting. But I still think Jaime's ace. He's a monster created by the system and he knows it. It's just brilliant.
Cersei seems drunk half the time. Though I disagree she's likeable at all, I tihnk you kinda need to see her struggling to come to terms with the monster she created (Joff).
Don't care about Jon Snow I just fancy the pants off Ygritte so much :(
And yes, lack of Stannis the last few episodes has been concerning. what is it they said in the episode, 4/5 days until his fleet hits?
yep, tyrion said that the ships had been spotted
200 or so, more than the lannisters had. 5 days away, 4 if they have the wind. Cersei said she'd burn them or something.. quoting her father.
Also, having made us wait for it, the delivery of YOU KNOW NOTHING
was absolutely perfect
Now, here are observations from having read the books and as such contain some pretty dench SPOILERS
You were warned
DON'T DO THIS
SERIOUSLY
I can't be arsed scrolling past a bunch of spoilers every time I open this thread. Start a new one?
Sorry. I had a change of mind and made them a bit more cryptic
I have no problem if Theo wants to delete it thoug.
Actually if they're cryptic ones I don't mind
as long as they don't ruin anything if I catch sight of them accidentally I'm cool with it.

- I like how they keep inserting Roose Bolton into scenes with Robb and his lady; should have a sign saying THIS WILL BE IMPORTANT
- Good of Jaime to mention Barristan before his reappearance in disguise next week
- Robb's lady was reluctant to go to The Crag with Robb to accept the surrender. The Crag is the seat of House Westerling. Surely this is where they can go so is in fact Jayne Westerling
- The Battle of Blackwater is almost upon us!!!!!!!!!
Theo, delete this
Sorry guys.
How many episodes have we got left of this season?
As much as I enjoyed all the chat last night I'm worried it's spending a little too much time 'setting up' this series and we might just get one episode of mental action and it'll be over for another year. Is this going to happen?
Two left.
Last night's was a bit of a stinker. That Robb fake Jeyne Westerling scene was particularly awful, as was Tyrion and Shae. Good to get a bit of Varys though.
Anyway, it will all kick off in the next episode.
If all their pre match chat matches up to what will be on screen
Next week will be one of the greatest episodes of television ever
Did I read somewhere that Neil Marshall is directing it?
Anyway, yeah. Next weeks should be quite something.
Trailer!
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/s151/game-of-thrones/news/a382667/game-of-thrones-war-is-here-preview-blackwater-battle-video.html
Looks quite good.
That robb and thingy scene was shite wasn't it
there's absolutely nothing to make me care about their relationship. I dunno if it's cos it needed more time to develop into something meaningful, or if there's just no chemistry or if they're not great actors or all three or what, but yeah. Not that great. That scene was pretty cliched as well.
Wasn't a great episode was it. The thing with Arya was the best bit I guess, but even that could've been done loads better.
cracking arse though tbf
Just so everyone knows
don't watch charles dance being interviewed for game of thrones on youtube. it says spoilers on the top, but i assumed that would be for the episode that came the week after his interview. It's not. It's a really massive spoiler.
Was well pissed off with Charles Dance. Fuck you Charles Dance.
That's a bit shit
They could have easily edited that out - why leave it in?
no idea
i was mad
Liked Jaqen H'ghar breaking kayfabe
arya: So you'll kill anyone?
Jaqen: By the red god, the new gods and the countless old god.
Arya: Ok. Jaqen H'ghar.
Jaqen: A girl chooses a man's own name.
Arya: Yep.
JAqen: Unsay it.
Arya: Nope.
Jaqen: PLZ
Arya: If you help me
Jaqen: K THNX
Jaqen: A girl lacks honour
Arya: ¯\_(?)_/¯
nnnngg
this looks shocking
http://www.gameofthrones-rpg.com/
Yep
Crusader Kings 2 with the Game of Thrones mod when it comes out will be amazing though
Made the mistake of reading the review thread on TheTowerOfTheHand site
People were on the verge of tears over the tiniest of details.
Like Jeyne Westerling becoming this foreign lass...despite the fact that Jeyne being the biggest non entity EVER in the books. Think she has like 5 sentences of dialogue, most of which are *Thank you my lady*
oh i hadn't put my own tuppence-worth
in.
Pretty meh. The love interests are pretty boring now. Liked how they just stuck a random Qarth scene which basically just said 'HAI AUDIENCE DON'T FORGET ABOUT US DOODZ'
Catelyn is suck a prick. Also you could tell how rushed it felt with Stannis basically explaining the whole of Davos's back story in about five minutes.
Also I'm currently reading the book with it. Danaerys has just got out of the House of the Undying. Quite a bit is...different, isn't it? Finding it quite odd/amusing how it's been adapted.
Blackwater trailer has left me all weak at the knees though
I'm very interested to see how they take on The House of the Undying
Because
a) it's pretty fucking trippy
b) at the time I was like WTF but in hindsight Dany sees a lot of important stuff in there
But yeah, Dany is barely in Clash of Kings
And it's the beginning of her storyline becoming terminally boring, so I don't blame them for at least trying to make it interesting
POSS SPOILERS
I'll have to rewatch that. A couple of niggles I have with it initially but I thought it was unbelievable. My heart jumped at the wildfire explosion.
Also, it's amazing that half of the episode wasn't even the battle. Ramped up the tension no end.
Cersei was suitably psychopathic.
But yeah
as good an episode of tv as i have ever seen
That was awesome
pretty much agree with the AV Club's newbies reviewing criticising it
for the nighttime setting making it very muddled at times, but otherwise, YES PLEASE. that was awesome.
i presume this is the last we'll see of King's Landing this season and that the actual finale next week will focus on everyone else.
I'm going to have to re-read the books at some point and remember what happened when.
That was genuinely incredible
bearing in mind time/budget limitations, the spectacle, the tension, wow. I had goosebumps from the moment Bronn did his thing.
i know we're two years in now
but i still get excited by how brilliant the casting is sometimes; that hound and bronn scene was so good.
The National during end credits?
What a superb bit of TV. Wow.
Sky just spoke over that
Exciting news Game of Thrones/video game fans!!
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/05/28/a-mod-of-a-game-of-thrones-crusader-kings-ii/
That was pretty good.
Wow
Nailed it
There were some great bits of violence
A head disintegrating under a rock, people beind sliced in half at the waist and head.
Pod was a bit more badass and I suppose they will explain who sliced Tyrion's face as it was a bit unclear.
Sandor would have destroyed Bron, even with a dagger in his guts.
I don't recall anyone important slashing Tyrion in the books.
I think it was just meant to be about him getting slashed and losing half his nose.
It is someone relatively important, well who he works for is important
it was not one if Stannis's men.
^this
Surprised you don't remember as it was pretty significant.
Good old Pod
Dunno. It's been about 5 years since I read them.
I want to read them again but my old flat mate has my first book and he lives in Crystal Palace.
It was syr ilyn wasn't it?
it looked like his armour.
No
but it was one of the Kingsguard, Ser Mandon Moore (had to look it up, couldn't remember which one it was).
This isn't a spoiler because we did see him but it was a bit confused.
Not that Ser Ilyn is Kingsguard.... of course.
oh right
i wouldn't have got that. i don't even know who that is
I remembered him from the books because Jaime describes him
as one of the deadliest of the Kingsguard. He has dead eyes and a face which disguises his intentions. A face which reveals nothing. Or something.
also none of you are saying *spoilers* on slightly spoilery bits where you mention what happens in the books
i hate that.
But we saw all this last night, no spoilers.
Just talking about the differences.
oh okay
nah it's an important lannister fella
in the books.
I would've liked to have seen tyrion on the boats as in the books, reaching for his hand and then getting slashed as I thought it would've been cool.
Also Stannis would never be the first one over the ladder. But I guess it was done to contrast with JOffrey's absence.
Can't really fault it otherwise though. Superb. Looking forward to watching it again tonight.
I enjoyed Joffrey, mummy wants you
Compared with Stannis almost taking King's Landing single handedly.
<3 Stannis. His scream at the end of being so close was agonising
NOOOOOOOOOO
Also if Stannis was that bad ass IMAGINE what Robert was like in his prime
Would love a film version of Robert's Rebellion. With Robert smashing the FUCK out of Rhaegar with his fuck off big hammer
Amazing. Actually sad it has to end next week
Some of Cersie's comments were pretty crazy - the bit when she talks about how identical her and Jaime were that people couldn't tell them apart, made the whole incest thing a even more disturbing. Tyrions battle speech!
If they split book 3 into two parts
is there anything much they can use as an end of season finalé? I worry Season 3 will be too dull to keep viewers interested.
I think I have a pretty good idea of what they're going to use as the season 3 finale
Also - season 4 will be INCREDIBLE
Well indeed.
That's sort of why I hope they can pull of Season 3 because the audience now really deserves that Season 4.
Are they doing that?
If they just extend series 3 by about four episodes they could probably just do it all in one.
I wish I shared everyone's confidence that there will be a season 4 and onwards.
I'm pretty hooked now so am dreading the American audience losing its interest.
I think they might make up to season 4 to round up to the end of Storm of Swords (book 3)
Then cool it off to maybe wait for the 6th book to come out.
Also book 4 is SO BORING but I guess is meant to go concurrently with the first part of book 5 so maybe that'll ease the boredom a bit
Plus, it's doing well for a cable show, it's critically lauded and wins awards
I think the fact they greenlit Season 3 was the main hurdle for me.
But doing all of book 3 in one go has two main flaws: one that GRRM hasn't finished the series so they need to slow down a little, and second that it would squeeze the budget so much.
If they can get as far as finishing the third book then I think they'll be okay to see it to the end.
As for A Feast for Crows, it has a lot of good stuff in and I think it'll be even stronger when mixed with the book 5 bits. I think AFFC seems worse than it is for not having a great ending.
Maybe if they don't slow down it will give GRRRRM just the impetus he needs to get it finished in time
Last thing we want is for him to be rushed.
Did no one learn anything from books 5, 6 and 7 of The Dark Tower?
Some truly great moments of dialogue last night
The Tyrion Joffrey conversation through the hound and lancel was wonderful, as was Tyrion's *I am entirely sure that you are entirely sure what I'm talking about*
*Anyone dies with a clean sword I'll fuck your corpse*
*Any one of those fucking flaming arrows comes near me and I'll strangle you with your own guts*
*Don't feel too sorry for my nose, it'll be half way up your arse by the end of the night*
Tyrion, looking at Stannis' oncoming forces *Oh, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck me*
Sansa *Let's sing a hymn!*
*HOLY SHIT!* - everyone in the room at the wildfire explosion
****SPOILER****
I'm starting to get annoyed that they keep killing my favourite characters, seriously...
...well I assume he is dead.
Who are you talking about?
DON'T DO THIS, DICKHEADS
Watch it then you fiend. You knew there would be spoilers...
I'm pretty sure Joe watched it last night.
Hang on
I think we might be talking at cross purposes. Yes, I did watch it last night. When people say "spoilers" in here – the thread that's explicitly about the TV show – I assume they're going to talk about stuff that happens in the book and hasn't been shown on telly yet.
Look, can we have a rule that it obviously doesn't count as a spoiler if you're talking about stuff that happens in the TV show, because if someone hasn't seen the latest episode they shouldn't be reading the thread. Or at least, they shouldn't complain if people are talking about it in here.
Basically if you say SPOILERS I assume you're going to post something like *I can't wait to see how they do the bit where Stannis turns into a magic unicorn in book five!!!* like some kind of total dickbag.
And if by "I'm starting to get annoyed that they keep killing my favourite characters" you mean Davos
– I'm guessing that's who you mean – the rule is that unless you actually see someone die, you can't take anything for granted.
Also LordLuciusBanter told a good story last night about how people often come up to George RR Martin and ask "So is Syrio Forel still alive?" and he's all "Dude I don't fucking know, he's a minor character who was in it for like five minutes, jeez"
I had a theory that Syrio was Jaqen Q'hagar
it is probably bollocks. But I just want Syrio back
<3 syrio.
That's what everyone says
I don't believe it. Syrio is dead man. Everyone should just get on with their lives
Nah
He'll be back
*stares whistfully out of window*
I like that as a theory, on the surface
but it makes literally no sense. Why would Syrio not just tell Arya who he was?
Cos he's punk as fuck
Well it looked like Tyrion had died, clearly not.
Oh yeah, that too
Again - it's not clear that he is dead, and he's already been knocked unconscious in one battle and recovered.
Yeah I think we crossed wires, I completely agree you shouldn't be reading the thread if you've not seen the latest episode!
WOW. just wow. [HERE BE VERY VERY MINOR SPOILERZ, YOU CAN'T BE TOO CAREFUL THESE DAYS]
amazing stuff, especially for a TV budget. loved how we got to see joffrey bottling it at the wall, you never really got to see that first-hand in the book. I also thought tyrion's face would look a bit more mangled considering the book descriptions, but that's just nit-picking cos it was FUCKING ACE.
is it just me that finds bronn staggeringly reminiscent of the smaller of the two chuckle brothers?
Fucking hell
I am never coming back in this thread, just skimmed over all the posts from today and it looks like a minefield of spoilerz.
Great great episode last night though. Wish there was more than one to go!
It's not really
People keep putting SPOILERS and then talking about the episode which everyone else has already seen.
I agree with Joe above - Spoilers should be stuff referencing the book (and I try to keep my thoughts quite oblique on those matters). If you come reading this thread without having seen the latest episode you get what you deserve
Yeah I meant the book stuff
I have no idea if people are referring to the episodes or books though so I don't want to risk reading a post that reveals something that's gonna happen in series 4.
Guys, guys,
how the fuck would the Lannisters or anyone else in Westeros know what a lion looks like?
:D
(they have horses and wolves. why wouldn't they have lions?)
(this is a bit like in one Star Wars book where somebody names a spaceship with a pun that only works in English but THEY DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH)
I just had a moment where I doubted the world and had to post about it
wolves are in the north. Fair point with the horses though.
It's all collapsing like a house of cards.
this is one of those questions
that you cant answer without sounding like a giant fanboy dork
so im gonna leave it well alone
Maybe they used to have lions, just like they used to have dragons
maybe they had chimaeras
dragons i can accept
but LIONS? What is this, some magical other world where LIONS roam the streets? LOL
Ever wondered why we have lions on our coat of arms? Richard the RINEhart? JFC.
Thanks phone. RINE = LION. Cunt.
it's 2am, pal.
I'm in Australia for another week and a half.
What's your excuse?
Good to see Bill Nighy still getting work
Has this actually come out yet?
i can't find a proper torrent ANYWHERE.
Anyone got a link?
you got a pm.
Go on the top 100 bit on pirate bay
There's loads!
Streaming sites
so were people posting in this thread after watching the episode early, by downloading?
cos that's not fair.
... zombies?
*Others, or White Walkers as I think they're calling them in the series
(because "the Others" could get really confusing in dialogue)
We've seen them before. In the pilot, and when Jon saved Lord Commander Mormont from them, and sort of hinted at when Craster is sacrificing male kiddies.
the zombies are wights
the white dudes are others/white walkers. so to recap white = other, other than white = wight.
love fantasy
just gonna keep calling them zombies
Only if you also call vampires 'zombies'.
These are definitely not the same sort of undead as zombies.
Fucking hell.... I can't wait another year for the 3rd series!
Enjoyed the finale.
My only minor gripe was the handling of the Jon Snow/Qhorin Halfhand duel. In the books it's made a lot clearer that Halfhand effectively sacrifces himself so that the Wildlings will be more likely to trust Jon, while watching last night's episode it looked like Halfhand started a fight with Jon almost for no reason.
Still, apart from that I enjoyed it all. I'm intrigued about what they're going to do with Shae's character in the third series.
well Halfhand made it pretty clear
that's what was going on when he told Snow it was more valuable for them to have a man in their camp and told him he had to 'do what was needed' before pretending to start an argument with him.
Not sure how they could have made it clearer other than Halfhand theatrically winking at him during the fight.
If Winterfell was surrounded by 500 men
how did that Greyjoy lot burn it down, escape and basically force the kiddies, fuckwit and Wildling to flee?
They were allowed to leave weren't they
but yeah dunno why they were allowed to leave after burning down winterfell that is quite silly innit
I mean, I've just presumed it was the Greyjoys
but if it was, that seems a pretty major plothole, too major for me to have picked up on but for the writers to have not noticed or cared about. So ... It must have been Lord Bolton's bastard. Right? Right.
I DON'T WANT TO WAIT UNTIL APRIL 2013 TO FIND OUT, ARGHHH
It was a bit ambiguous and I'm not sure
but I think it went like this: Finchy made a deal with Ramsay Bolton (who I think was laying siege to Winterfell though it wasn't made explicit), gave him Theon, fucked off somewhere and then Ramsay and his crew came in and burnt the place up. Not quite sure how Luwin survived that, but hey.
Is that your take on the events or the show
or your take on the events of the book? Or both? Just wondering if there's some emnity (between the Starks and Boltons or Ramsay and his son) that I'm oblivious too.
Usually pisses me off when people cry plot hole over details that are implied rather than stated, but that bit just seemed a bit odd.
It's my take of events in the show which are informed by the books
Probably wrong then. I'm sure things will be explained next season.
I'm watching episode 9 right now
massive fight scene whilst hungover has made me like this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v250/joker9/funny-pictures-kitten-is-astounded.jpg
Lots of ambiguous stuff that has waiting eagerly for next year...
It's not fair of them to make me wish my life away.
Snow on the iron throne was a weird one, I was under the impression he was going in there to kill the king beyond the wall...and that dude with the face at the end. It just got x10 better.
Snow on the iron throne? Eh? Did I miss something?
Daenerys' vision/challenge/possible near future
Do you mean literal snow?
I don't remember seeing any discernible figure on the throne. I must have been distracted for a second.
Yes, precipitation snow
which could be a metaphor for Jon SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's shit loads of snow in this show.
I don't know what's metaphor snow and what's not. North of the Wall - real precipitation snow. Snow anywhere else - Jon Snow metaphor even if it's the vision/dreamland of characters who don't know who he is nor ever met him.
meta-snow
has this season finished now then?
yes
what I don't understand was how Stannis made it out of Blackwater alive
he was like inside the city walls one moment, then noticed the cavalry, and then in the next episode turns up at home like "so we lost that one then"
yeah, that was ridiculous
too much stuff going on in the last episode too. my head was blown by the end of it.
someone make a meme of Stannis saying to witch
"Boy, that escalated quickly, I mean that really got out of hand fast!"
He was dragged off by his own men, he wanted to continue berserking
holy shit, joeymahone
not you too.
There's a massive plothole that i figured out a while ago
but every time this thread's bumped i forget what it is.
I'll keep you posted.
Something to do with the weird Dagobah-Millennium Falcon time discrepancy
that seems to be going on?
