that is all.
Shut the fuck up and enjoy the privilege of watching him
Well, not really. But competition is pretty much the heart of entertainment. If you can't understand why watching someone/a team smash pretty much everyone they come up against eventually ceases to be entertaining, you have a problem.
I'm not even gonna bother with my actual response now :D
You've flustered me.
he'll never have to
and with that, I yield.
those 2 chips were sublime
his name is bender
he's no Chamakh
it's actually impossible to try and pretend Pele, Maradona, Zidane, Best or anyone else was better than him.
I've got a feeling that indie retards of our age group will try and suggest Zidane was in some way better, but they just look fucking silly now.
Stop making excuses. Enjoy the best footballer to have ever lived.
I don't know about who is better between him or Messi, all I know is before Messi Zidane was probably the best person to play football since Maradona's peak.
...and there's the halcyonic element...those in the past are remembered better than those in the present, naturally.
Zidane's my favourite, but Messi's the greatest.
it feels like he's been dicking on teams for ages and he's barely older than me.
realistically he's 2-3 years away from a crunching leg break, but at the very least he at least seems to just love playing enough to not get undone by booze or women or owt
he's just the best.
many have tried, but you'd have to have 2 teammates holding him in place before administering the Muscat special
He's 8 goals off being Barca's top goalscorer, at 24. TWENTY FOUR.
He's spearheading the greatest side there's ever been.
He's making his club the greatest and biggest in the world (they've never been bigger than Real, arguably were behind Bayern, and even United a decade ago, and only on a par with several others).
We're not overrating the lad, we really, really aren't. If anything, we're underrating him.
The fact that Ronaldo, who would rank amongst the greats in any era, even the all-time greats, isn't even fit to lace the lad's boots sums it all up.
We're witnessing greatness.
* i'm very, very pissed.
this shows why Ronaldo will never be rated as highly as Messi:
It's not the penalty miss, but the celebration or lack of it afterwards.
b) I'm most peeved by Benzema's blatant encroachment. Aren't linesmen supposed to jump on this shit?
that commentary is rather special
Another way of looking at that is that he knows his penalty was shit and feels bad/guilty that it could have cost his side.
Easier to read it negatively though.
to debate who is the best player of all time, I'd certainly willingly accept it was him if someone else put it to me.
Sometimes watching him and Barca is like watching Tyson in his pomp placed in the ring with an emaciated child, or Nadal aceing a paraplegic ... It's not his talent that's in question (unless you're a moron), it's the intrigue. I'd almost rather watch Messi train or shoot an advert or something than I would play a 'competitive' game.
the fact that he can consistently, no matter who the other team is, do a job. and if he smashes a few records on the way, so be it. I could watch Messi play anyone over and over and not get bored.
Like I alluded to, I very much agree with all the praise heaped upon him and all the superlatives used to describe him. He is a beyond amazing footballer.
I guess I just find it more entertaining, as a sometimes neutral, to see a battle. I kinda prefer to watch Ronaldo because he's immensely talented but also flawed and fallible. He could score a stunning solo goal, he could fluff his lines.
is always more exciting.
I think it's impossible to argue who is the best player of all time as the game is different across leagues, continents, positions and decades and you just can't really compare. Obviously he is certainly up there as one of the best. The chip with his right foot was sublime. Saying that Leverkusen were pretty rubbish. Never thought I'd find a 7-1 match boring but it was, Apoel v Lyon was so much more exciting.
like when you watched Zidane or Ronaldinho or Henry or Ronaldo(s) run with the ball they pushed it a bit further with each stride and it at least gave the illusion that they could be tackled, made it much more exciting
Just so everyone knows he's the worst?
and i must say, i think even if messi and c ronaldo were on a par (and to be fair, the gap between them isn't as great as most claim) i would still pick messi simply because he's the balls. a great guy, very generous and sweet tempered by all accounts. no-one, and i mean no-one, has a bad word to say about the man messi, as distinct from the player.
or Palm for that matter
