The animated Jacques Tati one not the other one.
Worst 80 minutes of my life so far.
How are you?
Had to pay 40 quid to get a taxi back to my Dad's in Maidstone at 2am. Pretty pleased about that.
Tell him it's his fault.
I also watched Life is Sweet at the weekend.
Seen it before like.
I seem to have gone off Mike Leigh. Has this happened to anyone else?
his films are rubbish.
Or did I just think that because that's what I was supposed to think?
I dunno. Just seemed like a load of shrill grotesques acting weird at each other.
pathetic, hopeless creatures, that can't fend for themselves.
another Year was particularly bad: Jim Broadbent, with his kazoo like voice......I think that Jim Broadbent should just stick to playing Toad in Wind of the Willows re-makes.
Some of them I love (Naked, Secrets And Lies), and others are full of patronising salt-of-the-earth hysterical caricatures to the extent that I want to throttle everyone involved.
British social realism: the worst of all film genres.
me and my sister used to scream this at each other
The Illusionist is a lovely film.
Or, I'm jealous of the rest of your life.
It was really boring.
And he was better shot of that money-digging bitch.
And I like the french and I love france.
But not when they're doing all that stupid french stuff. Know what I mean?
Bellend Ville Rendezvous
...loads more.... let me think.
Jules Et Jim
Les Vacances de Mr. Hulot
and others I haven't seen or have forgotten
Les Enfants du paradis
Wages of fear
Three Colours trilogy
La Belle et la Bete
Umbrellas of cherbourg
La regle du jour
A bout de souffle
Etre et Avoir is charming as well, but might be seen by some as too 'typically French'. It's just a fly-on-the-wall about a French primary school.
enjoy your french-films-we'll-pretend-we've-seen circle jerk
but it's a bit stupid to dismiss French films; they're not all pastoral borefests or yawning indie city love flicks. The New Wave are fantastic, especially Truffaut with The 400 Blows, and La Haine has a lot of cool grit about it.
Tati can be great, I really like his Hulot films, a more imaginative and better Mr. Bean. 'Mon Oncle' is the best- it's just 1.5 hours of daft fun.
I mean, obviously it's shit, but it is good as well.
Not too much plot, looks nice.
or tried to. Drifted off into my own thoughts after 30 seconds.
But it's such a needy film.
"ah bonjour .... look at me look at me!"
"no you're boring, I want to go to my happy place"
"ah non... look at ze quirky - ow you say eet? - acrobats?"
"no they're shit - fuck off"
When they go all Anglophile it confuses me
why are all these scotch people acting so french?
It just left me underwhelmed.
it's long, with a lot of BOOM BANG KABOOMS and an alien
got illusionist but not watched yet, now I probably won't
(I love it!)
but it was pretty good - low concentration blockbuster and I did warm to all the kids by the end
really not sure what happened there
It could've been good but the final half hour is interminable. Load of old bollocks. The central character was HIDEOUSLY unlikeable all the way through, and there's some real cringey bits ('I am an apex predator', that god awful last scene). Also the most pointless use of 'found footage' yet.
the trailer looked amazing, and the movie started off OK. I liked them tinkering with their new found powers, but then it just got fuckin ridiculous. and as you say, the lead character was a chump. he annoyed me greatly. and the ending was soooo inconclusive. I fully expect a sequel....
I have no way of unwatching it.
no sympathy from me.
to unwatch/unlisten to bad cultural product.
Not what I was expecting. Bit heavy on the torture porn, weirdly light on fairy tale nonsense. It was okay though.
A Streetcar Named Desire
Okay. Too mumbly. Could barely understand a word they were saying.
Now I'm wondering what this says about me tbh.
stick to your guns
Didn't think much of the baddy. Didn't really like the ultraviolence. Didn't really get the point, overall. Like I say, it was okay.
Some films I've seen recently:
Some Mike Leigh thing about four seasons or something. I can't remember the title. It was poo.
The Kings Speech - Better than I thought it would be.
Horrible Bosses - Fairly amusing and entertaining.
but not the funniest film ever (which is not what I expected it to be)
I don't believe them. And I don't like whatshisface.
Ultraviolence was good.
Fairy tale nonsense was good.
Eye-monster was fucking terrifying.
play around with the TENS machine did ya
Dead proud I was.
I managed to get out of doing that one.
and at the right temperature. Aced it.
This parenting stuff is gonna be well easy.
I don't think we had to do that. Probably just looked at photos of red faced women instead.
You need to know when to give up.
But Keira Knightly's in it. I'm so disappointed by this.
therefore.....it will be good. Panned by the Guardian, championed by the Independent. hmmmm
Keira Knightley getting slapped on the ass - what's not to like?
I dunno. I will watch it. But no doubt moan about it the entire time.
If so I thought it was dull and gave up.
We saw Martha Marcy May Marlene at the weekend. Really enjoyed it.
It's probably shit too, to be fair. But the Ed Norton one is bollocks. Don't watch that either.
