and therefore has a huge social context that you can't just suddenly dismiss and say "okay now everybody's equal"
is that fair? no, welcome to life. it's an inequality that men created.
says all that needs to be said about the above post
but then basically says chris brown doesn't because his comeback is sending the message that "abusing women is okay" hmmmm not really. is she forgetting all those months where rihanna's beaten and bloody face was everywhere and chris brown was constantly on TV apologising? none of those things explicitly redeem him as what he did was despicable - but to say that the issue got swept under the carpet is bullshit. rihanna's even on friendly terms with him now (although she'd be an idiot to take him back) so why can't people just shut up about it and move on.
i'm sure the argument is that he's a role model to kids but i think adults forget what it's actually like to be a kid. you're not instantly convinced by every single thing you see and hear on TV, and i'm sure most of his fans are able to grasp that he fucked up, and he's now on a second chance.
if you shun him from the music community and never acknowledge him again, what kind of message is that sending? that some crimes warrant a lifetime grudge? i think the whole thing just leaves (a very understandable) bitter taste in people's mouths, but if you really believe in forgiveness and second chances you should know that it's not always going to be easy to swallow.
but, as Brown is on probation 'til 2014, he's still technically serving it.
his image is of someone that beats his girlfriend. Yet people still buy into him.
It's pretty disgusting imo
you're making the wrong assumption that people are thinking "he hit a woman but i guess that's okay, i'll keep supporting him" when really it's more "well that was horrible but he's apologized and he and rihanna have both moved on, i still like his music"
i think youre underestimating people's capacity to be thick as all fuck
of course you're going to find fucktards with terrible opinions if you search for it on the internet. that really isn't a measure of anything.
or if you're usher
and you just wish the world would hurry up and explode already.
I'd be quite happy for Chris Brown to beat all of them as well.
"Are you for fucking real? Are you seriously hoping for twenty five separate women to get beaten so badly they have to go to hospital or do you just think that the idea of twenty five separate women getting beaten so badly they have to go to hospital is funny? If either of those two options: where do you think your deep-seated hatred of women originates?
And before you get back to me with "But they posted that they wanted it! Therefore they deserve to have it happen to them!" just sit and think about how fucked up the idea that a woman can 'deserve' to get beaten so badly she has to go to hospital merely for posting something you deem stupid on twitter is.
You "joked" you hope twenty five separate women get beaten so badly they have to go to hospital.
That's a joke you made."
buuutt: i'm kind of sceptical about the whole Fassbender thing I've seen so many people use when talking about this issue. He wasn't charged (which can mean very little, i know), and there was a lot of evidence that it was completely falsified by his ex. I am feeling very torn, because my instinct is always to believe the victim, but I also believe in 'innocent until proven guilty', y'know? Does anyone know more about this?
LA County, especially with celebrities, get a pass on a lot of stuff. One county over, in the OC, he'd have gotten a year in the county jail...then counseling and probation. Plus they'd have given him a strike.
Ever since OJ, you can't get away with domestic violence in the OC. Most of California, really. Unless the Grammys want you, apparently.
Chris Brown is a piece of shit. Talentless piece of shit at that.
This guy has the right idea
though the laughter is a bit weird and out-of-place and kind of ruins it.
