Today I am mostly going to see Kate Jackson (former frontwoman of The Long Blondes). Should be great.
Still sad? Whats up?
hmm, dunno. will consider!
I've not seen you for ages
that's a good point.
Not much to report to be honest. Might get to drive one of there later: http://www.liftandaccess.com/images/093009_GenieQuickStock.png
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH AQOS??
He sure keeps up on our toes, huh?
It isn't :(
and you thought it was coming from his house.
then started screaming as loudly as you could whilst clawing at your own face.
Fire alarm system started malfunctioning last night. Intermittent static. I improvised an alarm muffler:
It didn't really work.
What's the tube?
This stuff: http://is.gd/zTSXlp
As in Leamington Spa, the late 90s indie postcard mailout capital of the UK?
I needed a new username about a year ago and an old postcard fell out of a CD single onto the floor in front of me.
It's a cinch. Quite ego boosting to be able to coast through it.
Off work tomoz and monday.
And then I'll need to PROPERLY start looking for a job, seeing as I'll be two weeks into my six weeks redundancy notice by then. So far, I've only been brushing up my CV, mulling over my answers to the obvious questions, pulling a selection of representative drawings together for a 'portfolio', and browsing job/agency sites.
Gonna enjoy my birthday first, though.
Hope everything works out.
Yeah, i wanted to gather my thoughts before blabbing about it.
I've been in this job for six years now, and i needed to jump, tbh, (been thinking about it for the past couple of years or so) but the push seals that deal. So it'll be for the best in the medium-long term. Whether the transition is smooth will become apparent pretty damn soon. Agency work seems the likeliest outcome in the short term. Suits me. Pay will possibly/probably be higher, and a bit of flitting around will probably remind me that I'm pretty good at what I do, imo (when motivated). Would have been nice to have completed the 3D CAD course, but, as said, it's a breeze so far, so I'm pretty confident it's something I can step up to.
So, yeah, a mixture of excitement and mild anxiety.
But going into applications/interviews it'd be nicer to have it under my belt and done rather than 'in progress'.
I've paid for it myself. Hadn't mentioned it to work cos they're all talk and no trousers in the forward thinking department, and I thought it'd set their minds ticking about my future plans*. And now that my future plans are of little consequence to them, there's no need to tell 'em.
*Sometimes I wonder if I'm too guarded about this kind of thing, but it's strange in such a small practice, where personal relationships are as/more important as/than the professional side.
Not convinced laying me off will stem their struggle, even if it is a small practice, so I fear for the company's future, tbh. Or more more specifically, the other technician (seeing as he has a young family, whereas the secretary is only half days with a fella who has a cushy council job, and the three partners aren't too far away from retirement). They've partially bought it on themselves, though - no active promotion, no website, just relying on word of mouth, getting overly caught up in the management of jobs that aren't providing a financial reward, etc.
Blah blah blah. This is why I haven't mentioned it yet: tl;dr-arama.
are they aware that it is now the 21st century?
that the future is here? now?
(and hadn't properly gotten rid of Win98 in the office unti last year).
it works. i guess. in the same way that a constantly patched up skoda would work for a travelling salesman.
the only way is up...
will be like buck rogers waking up in the 25th century.
I think its having AQOS answers on a Thursday, its unsettled me.
Work is painfully quiet at the moment making the days just drag on forever. Two days til I go on holiday though.
Spend the next two weeks working our way south then flying from Ho Chi Minh back to K.L then back to London
(still deciding where to go, you see...)
I thought you were gonna tell me some horror story about visa issues when leaving from a different airport to where you arrived or something.
Vietnam would get my vote as the best place to go in that part of the world but thats just my opinion; other people will tell you Cambodia or Thailand or Malaysia is the best. If you have the time I'd suggest trying to hit a few of them and deciding for yourself
missed my train and so froze at the station this morning, not fun
my spastic eyes are playing up too, one eyed working today, not fun
still got really smelly farts, FUN
just had to go see an 'ATOS healthcare professional' to prove I'm not some workshy scumbag feigning mental illness. traumatic, but she seemed really sympathetic.
kind of glad AQOS got rescheduled, I need a bit of cheering up.
tayyabs: lovely food, shame the restaurant is a bit like eating a meal in the middle of the stock exchange.
mango home and mango wank himself to sleep.
Better than I had hoped for.
*Half a bottle of beer per person
all sorted out.
and said 'it isn't a crime' which I was 99% certain of anyway.
Evidencing that, however, will be hard if you look all chipper in the CCTV footage.
if that's not a crime, i'm going to start doing that today.
fuck this working in an office lark.
so they keep getting me to do really complicated long work that will have a backlash after I leave.
I have been put forward for two jobs. I may have an interview tomorrow. I need to buy a skirt.
Lots of smart suits and work dresses round at my place that you'd be welcome to borrow for interviewing.
What are the two jobs?
I do have a suit. Well kind of a suit (shirt, waistcoat and skirt) which always looks well smart and makes me look skinny so I'll see how I get on with that. I did see a BRIGHT GREEN work dress in H&M but I'm undecided if its suitable for interviews or not.
Both are for Team Admin/PA. One is for an interior design company in London Bridge and the other is for an event planning place near st pauls. I prefer the sound of the interior design place more though but both are worth a shot! I want to do PA work but don't know how to get into it so both will be a great opportunity.
We can do after-work yoga/ drinks in LB! (Or just the drinks if you get the St Paul's one :D). LOADS of luck to you. xxx
will show them you're hard as nails, they'll offer you the job straight away
I'm not insane :D
apparently there is no infection but i have stuff oozing out of my ears so I don't know what to think. It's fucking horrible.
did they say that the hearing gonna come back?
Still no idea if I'm going to make it up to scotland tomorrow or whether I'll be stuck at my desk. GRR.
But, other than work nightmares, things are damn good.
I'm now going to read the police thread.
Im so tired :( and my back hurts :( and I couldn't get a doctors appointment :(
Can you go back to bed and catch up on some sleep?
I am having FUN with my Mum.
She's in guilt mode about going away so I have to be oh no I'm fiiiine Mum :D :D
(I am actually fine, just bloody tired a sicky again)
Is there a walk-in centre tyou can go to to see a GP? You've been so poorly for so long now :(
Did you get my text? :D
I need shoes. Fact. I think she's more concerned about me eating something green :D
Ahahahahahahah!! Just saw it :D #privatejoke #yeahimadickwhatofit
and push to be seen immediately by crying loads and generally making as big a scene as possible.
if you can vomit on demand, that would go some way to proving how painful it is.
It's defo not an a&e situation! Or even a walk in centre one (people who: don't MTFU)
go to one. now.
As has my Sister, when we were actually ill. It's annoying when people go for no reason. This can wait. I don't think I'll die in the meantime.
You can give me a once over.
Seriously, not been sick at all this week.
which could easily be identified and remedied, thereby reducing the length of time you are suffering.
get to the doctor's. you massive belmface.
(massive in this instance not an inference of excessive body weight but of magnitude of belmfacedness)
i'm possibly getting worse, i don't know. the temperature is due to warm up to -3 tomorrow though, so i think i'll start feeling better then.
i want a new bag. where can i get a new bag? needs to be able to fit all my stuff in. thanks.
yessssssss, i love silver linings.
Got the RAGE yesterday after it turns out Sky hadn't actually sent me my replacement router I ordered 2 weeks ago, as the request got 'stuck in the system' and they were only made aware of this when I phoned up to tell them said router hadn't arrived. Pretty shit. They can't send a new one out til Friday either. Gonna have a word with customer services I think.. any advice?
Been hitting the gym hard the past week, upper body aches. Argh.
At least it's almost the weekend, out on Friday, date(s) on Sat, gigging on Sunday. Woot.
but if you persevere, they might give you a rebate/ a free month's internet, or similar.
Going to try and blag some more for the inconvenience, and the point that I had to point out their error to them. What sort of chumpy system only gets errors noted when the onus is on the customer to highlight them? C'est terrible.
is similarly blighted by incompetence and jobsworthy tedious fucksticks reading from scripts.
Annoyingly I got a confirmation letter as well saying my router was on the way. o_O
I could also check the status of my order via mysky.com, which isn't particularly helpful if my broadband ain't working.
i phoned them from work to tell them my landline wasn't working, but my broadband was, that i'd followed all of their directions and steps for diagnosis on their website and needed an engineer to come out to check the line.
the person on the other end of the phone then ignored everything i told them (ie not at home, etc) and asked me how i was phoning them, and then waded into exactly the same steps as i'd already carried out.
they wouldn't send an engineer until i had phoned them from my flat from my mobile (at 50p per minute), and carried out the diagnosis steps whilst on the phone to someone from pondicherry who was reading from a sheet probably printed from their own website. apparently the person i spoke to needed to hear that there was no dial tone on the line. they needed to hear an absence of sound.
this happened the next couple of times i phoned up, as i thought i was just dealing with someone with some form of comprehension issues.
i havn't had a landline available in my flat since may because of this. on point of principle.
silver lining: my folks can now be more easily ignored.
Going back next week to get on the roof.
Going to see that Zach Braff play tonight.
But it always sounds batshit mental so well played.
Got a proper url now, and an artist doing me a nice cityscape banner, and was on Flavorwire today and Urban Ghosts last week. It's nice :) NOW SOMEONE PAY ME?
I'm supposed to go see it when if comes down south
I'll let you know
And I've been down this week about pathetic things.
On the plus side I went to Ronnie Scott's last night, and one of my best friends is coming to visit me tomorrow.
go to the doctor's or phone NHSDirect.
Woke up with the most intense pain I think I've ever had on one side of my face. Apparently I've got an abscess in my left ear. So got some antibiotics and 2 lots of painkillers. Thank fuck the pain is starting to subside a little.
