Clue: half heartedly shake inverted sack.
'sack' links to 'bowel', which is another anagram of 'elbow'.
The bowelsack houses the testes (sperm producing little bowels)
is to give them the elbow
I've just spent the day kicking about in the snow. Now I'm going to spend the night listening to these: http://www.wtfpod.com/
How are you?
About an hour ago ;)
I'm abit of a 'Comfy Man'', so the thought of being out of the nest for three nights fills me with fear.
And being back in my own bed is the best feeling in the world. Wales beat Ireland today! TAKE THAT PADDIES!
because most of the bits are in this thread but all jumbled and fucked up with misinformation:
Shake = wobble
Half-heartedly shake = woble (halve the heart of the word "bb")
Inverted = elbow (ie woble backwards)
Sack = (give the) elbow
Not a single word more than needs be.
but I'm so mediocre at Times cryptics that I never knew of the "half-hearted" indicator before this moment.
Though I'm with you on when it comes to appreciating/preferring clues that contain no excess baggage.
I have heard it occasionally (not as commonly as "give the arse" though) and Wiktionary lists it as a UK idiom, so I suppose it should be fine for the Sunday Times.
I'd recommend you look up the cryptic band name threads that we've had over the years.
