best Nickelodeon cartoon?
Omelette Du Fromage
d's lab and johnny bravo were cartoon network flagships you goon
dex was better than exactly ZERO nicktoons
fixed that for you.
No monkey no, that is not candy, it is hot lava!
Ren & Stimpy
Rocco's Modern Life
The Wild Thornberries
Fairly Odd Parents
Didn't even need to use Spongebob.
I'd drop the wild thornberrys and add Spongebob though
CatDog and Fairly Odd Parents are gold. GOLD.
rugrats was groundbreaking. it paved the way for so much good stuff from nickelodeon.
My mum once called Nickelodeon demanding that they stop showing the episode where Chucky makes friends with a woodlouse called Melville after they showed it about 5 times in one week. Didn't see it again for years after that. Apologies to any Melville fans.
Although he doesn't believe he's really dead, he tries very desperately to awaken his dead pet. Chuckie, however, still doesn't believe Melville is dead and tries to show his denial by playing with the dead bug on a toy circus he made. But after seeing Melville not even stay on a ball, he breaks down crying from the realization that his pet is dead. Then decarling he'll never be happy again.
you've just triggered a lot of memories in my mind man.
I even remember that episode being on all the damn time.
Did she also complain about the episode of Doug where he gets his hair cut being on all the time too? I think it was called 'Doug gets his ears lowered'
but then it came on again and she was like "THAT'S IT!!!". She really gave them hell, feel sorry for whoever was on the other side of the call.
The Wild Thornberries
I could comprehensively prove you wrong but I'm busy.
Hey Arnold and Doug would be mystifying for most under-10s. They're cartoons for teens.
argh! real monsters
ren and stimpy
fairly odd parents
ok that's 9. spongebob is close. that was great at the start but went shit pretty quickly
I nearly died watching that once (a good die)
taht was the only show on CN i had time for
Was when they were at a beach and there was some turn of events which led to baboon causing weasel to develop gangreen.
Oh my word I LOVED Dexter's Lab. His sister was equally brilliant. All pinky and flouncy. Was the Power Puff girls also Nickelodeon? Oh and Johnny Bravo? - My favourite line in Johnny Bravo - "Name: Johnny Bravo, Occupation: Johnny Bravo" :) good times. Other favourites which were not Nickelodeon were:
Pinky and the Brain
You wear a disguise to look like human guys but you're not a man you're just a chicken boo.
"Who's on stage, that's what I'm asking you, whose on stage. Who's on stage"
I searched for it a few months ago, it was even better than I remembered it being.
Pinky and the brain
is clearly the best
Dont care what channel it was on.
So after school at my mum's I was stuck with some complete DROSS like the new Woody Woodpecker and, UBOS and Pocket Dragons. The only saving grace on WW was the badger who would turn up once an episode and murmur "hiya buddy", as seen here at 5.45 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjR_4tpdpC4
of which we are unlikely to see the likes of again, since they were the work of auteur animators working with relatively lenient and liberal networks (at the time)
The best being John K's original Ren & Stimpy episodes, Rocko's Modern Life, 2 Stupid Dogs, Cow & Chicken/I Am Weasel and the masterful Samurai Jack (the closest thing to art in kids animation)..
doug, rugrats and ren and stimpy all premiered back to back on the same day. unbelievable. nothing that significant will ever happen to animation ever again.
Best live-action Nickelodeon shows?
Kenan & Kel
The secret life of Alex Mack
The adventures of Pete and Pete
Clarissa explains it all
are you afraid of the dark
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
I well fancies his sister.
moody's point <3
in any category
So many memories. Used to get up at half 6 every mornin to watch Rugrats, Doug and Hey Arnold before school. (Think it was that order, Arthur was on afterwards but I didn't like that much except for the FUCKING INCREDIBLE theme tune)
Does anyone else remember that rumour way-back-when that Kel had died (think it was a car crash)? My mum rang Nickelodeon up to ask them and they said that they'd been inundated with calls, but that he was definitely still alive. So much relief.
Always such a good 9-year-old birthday party trick.
First thing I played on my glockenspiel.
are there any good cartoons thesedays, what do kids watch?
all those mentioned in this thread are giving me a weird shivery feeling at my desk taking me back to halcyon days on the little CRT television
But other than that it's mainly Pokemon and Ben10 or shitty 'real-life' Disney shows.
I try to find good cartons for them to watch but they are few and far between these days. The Jonas Brothers/ Hannah Montana tv/music cross-over thing is where the moneys at obviously. Cunts.
That's good. I saw an episode the other day where they had Full Metal Jacket and Clockwork Orange references in. And theres a dopey pet platypus called Perry who's actually an undercover secret agent- brilliant.
alone, proves that Cartoon Network is better than Nickelodeon. As well as Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog and Regular Show. I still watch these, or would if I had any means to, now.
