I've got nothing to do 'til my train leaves at 5. Might just wander around a bit. Any recommended pubs for lunch?
The Jericho Tavern is a good lunch place, from what I remember.
- Wander around the Covered Market, consider eating at Pieminister
- Go to the Pitt Rivers museum. Find the beehive upstairs. Gawp at the BEEEES.
- Find any of the branches of G&Ds (www.gdcafe.com) and eat all their homemade ice-cream. And a waffle.
If you're in the mood for more of a wander:
- Walk up the high street up onto Cowley Road. You'll find a great little record shop, a great burger place, loadsa pubs and bars, and general student shabs.
...altho if you have time on your hands, The Pitt Rivers Museum is awesome and free.
For lunch, The Eagle & Child on St Gile's does decent grub.
Afterwards I sat on the wall and ate shell-on prawns and drank apple and elderflower Copella.
In the words of George Michael "if you're gonna do it [Oxford], do it right".
Lovely on a nice day.
...and as you're a tourist, The Turf Tavern deserves a pint to be had in.
you could do some more of that
All other suggestions will be considered though, so ta.
Sean make your damn site work, etc
having far more UCAS points than I actually do.
And I got enough UCAS points too, I'm just not posh enough *safety wink* **but it's true though**
I'm in a suit today though, so surely nobody will mistake me for a student, right? Right..?
He had never been before, and in a pre-internet age, had no idea what to expect. Unfortunately for him, his parents had dragged him around National Trust properties almost every weekend throughout his childhood. He reckons he had some sort of flashback, thought he was at a stately home and came out with unsuitable answers when the panel questioned him.
He ended up at Bristol instead.
Are you saying his parents abused him?
Bristol is about a million times cooler in terms of making the best of having probably the most free time you'll ever have.
Botanical Gardens (if its nice)
Shed load of good pubs, lamb & flag, eagle & child - one near a statue that was like an inn from the 14th C and loads of others I was too drunk to remember.
Come to Cowley Road and do my work for me?
Actually though go to the Pitt Rivers Museum...or the Ashmolean...or Modern Art Oxford. They're all free and can always burn through a couple of hours. Also get a Mission burrito, eat some G&Ds ice cream and visit Truck Store.
posing for photos on bikes in bike racks, wearing university scarfs. They then leaped off quickly when the angry student owner of the bike came over and shouted at them. Do that.
But I'd need someone to take the photos, and a university scarf. You think if I crudely tippexed the words "Oxford class of 2007 yah" onto my tie it'd fool anyone?
Covered market, yeah? I'll find it.
Bring a box back will you?
I don't mind you advising me to go and try out an inferior competitor's brand - y'know, for research - but asking me to buy you unofficial cookies?? Don't you know who I am?!
The challenge of finding it would be half the fun.
Sorry, going by memory, and I'm too late as well. WOE
