Apart from that Kurt Cobain reissue.
Hard to come by though.
this case for my Jazz bass:
in tweed/red plush. It's back ordered and they can't tell me when they're getting anymore in. Waaaaah.
But as someone once told me "an expensive guitar case just says to people 'Here's my exspensive guitar'".
buuuut in my defense, my bass is going on a moving van in a couple of weeks and I am scared to death that something will happen to it. I'm like an overprotective mother when it comes to my guitars.
Good luck finding a left-handed Jaguar, moker. If I spot anything promising in the used music stores of San Fran, I'll PM you!
but you're more likely to find a snow leopard in the high street.
but doesn't help in terms of buying :(
the kurt cobain one might be fairly easy to mod. There are japanse ones, you'd have to pay to get it shipped from there because I dont think they export them since the mexican ones came out
Also you can buy these 'replacement' body neck and hardware, that are supposed to be pretty good
even including the pickups, pots, wiring and labour if you need someone else to put it together would come in under an AVRI price. Or try offsetguitars.com see how much someone would charge to make you one from scratch
but guess some of the hardware is non reversable, so maybe thats a bad idea
I know you are after american, but fender japan are good guitars, change of pickups and they are as good as the avri in my opinion
Utterly ming. But I know they're an option.
fender japan has way more choice of colour than america too. I know they can have some pretty bad tortoise shell pickguards, but so do many american and mexican ones ive seen
But those ones with the single colour body and matching headstock are vomit inducing.
Im sure they do non matching ones, fender japan are insane, their variety of offset guitars is rivaled only by their variety of kit kats
A brilliant guitar, shame it's a Kurt sig and "pre worn" too. Lame.
Also if you want some single coil pickups that fit the humbucker space, gfs surf 90s are incredible, they are really rich sounding single coils and would suit a jag well, they are super cheap but would be reasonably priced at 4x the cost
Had to order a Jap Jazzmaster from this Japanese Ebay shop:
They do Jags too. They were really helpful and communicative. Also, although the guitar is absolutely fucking incredible, the pickups weren't great and Jags/JMs need to be set up by someone who knows their shit. Although i can't compare, i can't imagine the US craftsmanship to be any better than the Japanese'. I've got a lot of Fenders and the Jap stuff is often better than the US made equivalent.
why not be DiFfeReNt and go for something ElSe?
Jaguars/jazzmasters have always been popular for indierock type music, I think their current popularity reflects that music becoming more popular over the last decade, and many people post cobain would have them as their reference point. sure there are plenty of other guitars but the vast majority are a variation on a handful of basic designs and jags/jazzmasters are hard to beat they sound ideal for certain types of music, look great, are the most comfortable to play, and their vibrato system is like no other, its not just a case of them being a trend.
Strats are ugly and boring.
But they arent gonna cut it for someone who wants the sound and feel of a jag
It's great. Just not a Jag.
I've had my Jazzmaster for 10 years so I like to think I got one BEFORE THEY WERE COOL. but in all seriousness yeah, I guess they'll go out of fashion again soon enough and thinline teles will become the in vogue guitar again.
If i was to buy another big brand guitar I'd probably get a Les Paul. Fuck the haters, they sound amazing.
I got mine in 1998, kids today are spoilt for choice
But it's the same price as the Kurt reissue, which I reckon is actually a lot nicer.
It's a bit sad lefties have to pay 50% more for the privilege of a Jaguar. :(
That blke from Black Sabbath
some of the most influential guitarists ever played lefty but we're still ripped off. :(
fucking leftist worldd
I would just get a Japanese one, my Japanese telecaster is so great
or do you have to have a fender badge on it?
i've just seen a sneak preview of the new Jags coming out at NAMM in 2012, and two of them in particular are utterly perfect. Also new mustangs as well, which are nice, but seriously. Jag all day. Except when the top E FALLS OFF THE SADDLE AGAIN.
no links or images coz saw it on a pdf :(
£550 seems like a bargain
