21st of December.
Best day of the year for sure.
And I'm in Basildon. :(
2011 isn't as good as most years.
with the exception of leap years where it moves back by just under 18 hours. there is of course the other exception of those correction years, god/a person who can be arsed to look it up only knows what happens then!
Some people’s ignorance of the topic depresses me…
I mean I'm seriously here, THAT GUY!
At least, I think that's how it works. Like, cos a year is actually 365 1/4 days, so we're now 3/4 of a day out until we straighten it out in February. Or something. I hate short days anyway, I might hibernate after Christmas 'til the clocks change again.
Darkness drives the mind to conjure up the incredible.
I was expecting some sort of discussion around the subject.
Do you not find that in summer you just want to lie around and relax and in winter you need to take your mind off the ceaseless cold by thinking about things?
but at least it's light, so I can work/read/do something vaguely active 'til reasonably late; in comparison with winter when it gets to about 4.30 and I start to think about bed, and then have to struggle through the next few hours doing as little as possible and hope that I don't suddenly remember I have to go out somewhere and can just stay in watching Poirot on ITV3 until it's an acceptable time to go to sleep.
I write more stuff in the summer, but that might have something to do with sitting around with a biff and a guitar. I also feel more like making tasty food.
Reading is one of those things I associate with being curled up under a blanket in a nice big easy chair/etc. If you're lucky you can do this in front of a real fire, but we never got one of those.
na me neither
Trying to convince us they haven't cut the sunlight. IT'S LITERALLY DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.
you can't have BBQ's in this weather and beer gardens go dark at 4!
