that guy who popped a knacker (or was this covered yesterday?)
Just look what he does for Bend It Like Beckham:
He starts out by drawing a '7' in the air, while gesturing 'here'.
Giggs looks confused.
He then mimes slicking back long hair, which is also met with baffled looks.
Then he points at Fergie, then does a kicking mime, and holds his head. He does it several times.
Clare Balding laughs, but Fergie is not happy.
Recent wobbles have meant a win tonight is really necessary to stop us going into the New Year as serious relegation candidates again. Norwich away doesn't fill me with confidence, though, because we've got a few key injuries (esp. O'Hara), and frankly from what I've seen of Norwich this season Lambert has them playing like a better version of us - not especially technically impressive, or fluid, or beautiful, but a good work ethic, 'putting a shift in', being effective and direct when things aren't going their way.
Night games are the best. It also serves as a reminder to the players of what they'll be doing a lot more next season if they don't buck up...
Can't see us getting much from Narwich though, for similar reasons as above.
Norwich (H), Arsenal (A), Bolton (A).
If we don't beat Bolton it will be an absolute travesty, far worse than shitting our pants against Wigan last year was. Ideally we'd want at least four points from those three matches - if we manage that, I think we'll be doing pretty well, and be on course to get over the early-season problems and move into mid-table safety. Johnson's looked a lot better over the past couple of games, and Jarvis is back to his best.
But could see all of those fixtures going very, very badly. I know not to get at all confident when it comes to us.
saying arsenal's main priority is to finish above spurs, after Wilshere said something similar.
Much as I'd like to point and laugh, it's quite fun that the pro's are saying things like this. Better than the incessant 'oh no *they're* the favourites, we're rubbish' schtick from all over manchester. Good luck to him.
I'd not actually seen Blanc's race comments until now. Disappointing.
“If you don’t have any respect for me, then don’t play for me.” McCarthy
“Stick it up your bollocks.” Keane
apparently Man u tried to sue him for comments he made after he left, Keane just told them to stick it up their bollocks, they kept sending solicitors letters, keane kept ignoring them, Keane won.
He also blames Fergie's argument with McManus over the horse for the arrival of the glazers - he probably has a point...
because Blackburn can't afford to give him a new contract. Heard he's close to activating a clause which guarantees him another deal on the same terms?
he's rubbish, right?
still maybe could do a job for bolton or wigan though
Excellent finisher though. Like a fatter, shiter, lazier Inzaghi.
that the team thought he was on a wind up because his technique was so poor :)
err.. yeah, so rubbish then :D
game tonight. probably the biggest in our club's recent history. Well a bit hyperbolic but easily top 3 or 5.
I'm going to get mashed in the pub and shout at the telly on my own.
not sure what that's all about.
Surely if they've done that there is no need to moan.
City seem to have upped their WUM work in recent days ... Has kik offered them his services during his DiS absence?
United shouldn't get special permission to cut other club's allocations. They should offer it, if clubs can take it they should be allowed to, if they can't then they agree a smaller percentage of tickets and those go to home supporters.
Rules are rules, though. You'd hope the clubs would just put their heads together and agree a compromise, but the boardroom egos outweigh those on the pitch at clubs sometimes.
Give them however many tickets they want, then stick another half-dozen goals past them. Much more enjoyable than some overpaid suit getting kicks about having a slightly bigger penis than his cross-city counterpart.
Let him back eh? This place is all he's got :(
Calm down, dear.
Let's just take it easy, eh?
he's going to end it all one day, and all he'll have will be hundreds of closed accounts.
leave him be.
no bants here. its genuinely worrying.
I love the thought of you monitoring the boards whilst banned. As endearingly needy as it gets.
that you realise most on here are fair, and generally know what they're talking about.
My wisdom was lost on them, son. Lost.
they have offered us if there is a replay. Petty tit for tat stuff based around Utd's dispensation for the size of their ground.
Also might have something to do with their away fans record accross the country and that they continually bring fireworks/flares into our ground.
Care to substantiate?
- constant standing at most away grounds
- regularly lighting flares inside grounds
- most arrests at away grounds of any Premier League club, year on year
- kicking dogs
on the third - i'd like to see these stats weighted by our away support in numbers compared to others.
Don't think your point is a get out clause for the third though but at the same time I've never seen that stat so it could be a load of bollocks.
They tend to save them for televised cup ties.
i've no doubt we've got some bad eggs, but i think that the nature of our away support, particularly on a game-by-game basis is being more than a little exaggurated. the main spur of Fergie's letter was the standing if i remember correctly, which i don't think is a major issue.
and it's yours that have been singled out so it would suggest that there's something else going on. Especially when for smaller clubs, of Wigan's ilk, their match day income is greatly increased when they play Utd.
Either way I've got no desire to come accross as a bitter with a drum to bash, was just pointing out the stance from your own club as well as others.

of course, one 'tasty' game can still have a big influence.
must be said.
their 'fans' come off better (relative to others) when you exclude offences outside the ground, partly because they, Liverpool and Arsenal have abnormally large figures for touting.

the rules of other grounds as they were having their allocation slashed by almost every club in the league due to the problems in controlling them. Substantial enough?
Whichever manager loses the Pie on a Barm Derby tonight will be getting his P45, right?
£20m for Jack Rodwell would make me laugh, lots, for quite a long time (unless we entered the bidding, in which case i'd probably hurt myself).
Are the odds good on this? Should I put money on it?
don't associate us with that fucking mob
The European Cup draw was obviously a fix too
a dan_thw post.
My WORK. Come on Royts, put your contacts in!
That's certainly a classy looking new 'superstore', huh.
I almost did, only remembered due to signing in to high five myself over my league position, haha.
No transfers. Almost took out an injured Nathan Dyer and put in the seasonally named Victor Moses but he would have just been sitting on the bench and doesn't have a great run of games coming up, so Dyer stays, and I'll have a transfer stored up for next week.
Only real decision was whether Walters or Tiote started. Reckon Stoke might blag a penalty against Man City and Jonno will tuck it away. Or he might bundle in a consolation goal. Tiote is playing West Brom, and if there was ever a game he was gonna score in, it would probably be that, but he can warm the bench as usual. Assou-Ekotto joins him there, though I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs beat Chelsea.
Once again fielding a back five that could all keep a clean sheet in Kompany, Jose Enrique, Jones, Evans and Krul. Walcott is due a goal against a sorry looking Villa, surely. Silva might get rested but hopefully not and he'll create havoc against Stoke. Van Persie goes back to captain and hopefully scoring some goals, Suarez will hopefully not be banned forever for being a racist and will destroy Wigan's defence. Vorm on the bench again. Sorry Michel. Let a few in for once!
Liverpool will definitely appeal and the ban can't take effect while they can
Not sure I want racist points. Though until I get a chance to transfer him out, I'll just have to take them!
None of us want to be seen being au fait with racism, but this is fantasy football points - priorites dan_thw...
Come on Luis you absolute bastard! Hat-trick against the bad dark man in goal for Wigan please!
who have Bolton got out exactly? that first team is woeful
(that Newcastle only play them once during that time)
appeal will set him clear
i take it his charge for an offensive gesture will be on top of it?
...and another one for appealing on the racism charge.
I think the most important thing to remember in all this is that it'd be a crying shame if he wasn't suspended for both legs of the League Cup semi-final.
Would you rather us knock you out the cup or end your title challenge? Surely the former.
and given Liverpool couldn't beat us when at home, against ten men, days after we'd played in Europe, i can't imagine them giving us much trouble at Eastlands.
or are you gonna be watching them with your mates? and by mates, I mean the Drowned in Sound social board.
Never been 'til last season Wrightlew questioning folks who've been going for years, you couldn't make it up.
I'll probably go to the home leg of the League Cup semi, not sure about the home league game yet, 50/50. Won't be going to the game at Anfield, try to avoid the shithole towns.
If i don't go to one, a couple, or all three, though, then yeah, i'll probably just come on here and laugh at your lads, aye.
Look out for me. I'll be honouring the City tradition of coming in fancy dress as a plastic blue seat. If you're lucky I might bring an inflatable banana.
... meant to say it's one of the last two things you've won FFS... although you're right it's a bollocks competition these days, even we reached the semis in the not too distant past... and now we're heading for the blue sq north.
I'm actually confident in the FA for a change that they'll stick with this one. I think Dalglish should be charged with something as well the prick, how hard is it to just not talk about something you've been told not to talk about.
and causes him to miss the run of games that goes spurs, man u, everton, arsenal, rather than some cup games
A 3-6 month ban would've sent out a strong message that racism isn't nice.
Super Racist Sunday!
wonder how Liverpool will handle this now that they have a convicted racist on board? Surely the FA will stick by this decision during the appeal - its took them 2 months to reach this conclusion, and with it's profile and seriousness surely they'd have made sure they can fully justify their case (though again it is the FA)
would look awful for a racism charge to be reduced.
interested to see the Terry case as well
Starting moving all the bruddas on.
My opinion is that Suarez isn't a racist but is just incredibly naive/stupid to go close to that word.
i think its a fair punishment for the charge, but its debatable whether he should be charged
There's so much ambiguity in the case that whatever the outcome it would've been controversial. I think the FA should come out with a more clearer explanation on how they decided on an 8 game ban.
and their ridiculously stubborn attitude and persecution complex. they could've averted almost all of this.
I'm still undecided on my opinion of suarez' racism (he's a bona fide cunt tho).
based on race is going to be offensive in England. Indefensible imo.
in that as far as i'm aware it's one person's word versus another
some of his best friends are black
he said he called him 'something his team mates call him'.
the reason the press started talking about the word 'negrito' is that it was in a tweet from Dani Pacheco to Iker Muniain shortly before the incident. It had no connection.
Fair enough in that case, that's a key fact that has been reported very inaccurately
absoultely awful statement
" It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations."
cant believe they have actually said that. leave other things out of it, your player has been charged for racism yet you still try to make out that another player (who in this case is judged to have been racially abused) is to blame. They should look at the evident problems at home first
they are gonna look awful if the charge doesnt get overturned. hope kenny gets a charge for ignoring the FA when asked not to speak out about it (making the whole thing worse by dividing the two sides even more, when it should be about an issue between two players without the clubs blindly backing their own player irregardless)
or that the charge is fully justified, just think liverpool and dalglish are handling it completely wrong
United staff accused the Chelsea groundsman, i believe, and supporters watching on TV accused Steve Finnan.
Liverpool can fuck off if they think they're getting Evra banned given how he's playing at the minute.
can come across officially as a hot-headed football fan posting on a football forum at 3am after a night on the lash
they need to employ a new legal team me thinks
until about a fortnight ago wasn't Dalglish arguing that Suarez hadn't said anything and Evra had made the whole thing up?
When did their stance change to admitting he did say something and arguing about context (i know we've been doing that for a few weeks...)?
no he wasn't.
ignorance not forgiven.
someones getting sacked in the morning at least
are totally inept idiots. 10% sound scousers, 90% people-who-think-they're-special.
completely forgot to update and pull Cabaye out. Gah.
Love how Adebayor gets bonus points every week despite doing nothing but miss sitters.
I've genuinely watched League 1 games of a higher technical quality. Both of these teams relegated by the end of February plz.
What the fuck do we do now?
Well for starters, we hope that Stevie G returns soon. I'm currently watching the Road to Istanbul DVD cos my telly signal's down, and you forget how good he can (or could) be. Of course he's not the player he was then, but his impact is massive, as seen in the United game. As one massive influence leaves, hopefully another will return.
It's obviously time for the other fella to start playing. You can't see that happening, but imagine on the off-chance if it does. That'd be nice.
Bellamy will have to start playing up front until then. So it could be worse I spose. Maybe the yanks will splash the cash. Who knows.
I'm tempted for us to not appeal it and to just get it served straight away. The 8 games he'd miss are winnable / minor games, bar the 2 cup games with City. He'd return just in time for City at home, which would be ideal.
In terms of the crime itself, if it happened, then fair enough. If not, :'(
thinking purely about the football, i'm not convinced being without him for a few weeks will have any major bearing on their season.
- What would their highest likely finish be if he were to be injury and suspension-free for the rest of the season?
- What's the lowest they're likely to finish having gone without him for, say, 6 or 8 games?
You were never, ever going to finish 4th.
but clearly a massively unlikely one
Suarez ban would likely mean the difference between 5th and 6th and perhaps a bearing on the League Cup
Look who we're competing with. Chelsea are dodgy. Arsenal's fortunes rely solely on one player. Spurs are in superb form, but only Spurs fans would think that can continue. They look solid, but they're Spurs. As soon as Adebayor does an Adebayor, their goals could dry up.
We've all had fairly decent seasons, but for Liverpool, we've only looked truly beatable in one game, which is more than you can say for any of the other three.
Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal are all better sides and should finish above Liverpool.
Stoke might overtake them, too.
With - 5th/6th.
Wolves've been robbed.
Bolton were made to look like Barcelona though by probably the worst side I've seen in quite some time.
Even when Blackburn had their tails up in the 2nd half, they were in no way convincing. Never looked like equalising, and only had a sniff of a point due to Bolton's complete lack of defensive organisation.
Bolton really did play some good stuff though. They looked dangerous every time they went forward. I hope this is a springboard of sorts, as I think Coyle will get them out of trouble.
Blackburn though - deary me.
haven't seen you for ages!
How's the form?
in the middle of a Journalism MA.. someone's gotta hack those phones!
I need a lie down
I've given Bolton the benefit of the doubt so far this season, but...christ. I'm trying to think of poorer sides I've ever had the misfortune of watching for 90 minutes in the Premiership and the only one I can immediately think of is That Derby Side. Blackburn do at least have the skeleton of a decent side who you'd think properly managed would make a fist of staying up, but Bolton are dreadful in every department. That you beat Blackburn today says a lot about Kean's management, and the Ewood faithful. Pedersen at left back, holy effing mother of mary. Hoilett was in tears at one point I believe. Awful, awful club from top to bottom.
forget Kean, how the fuck are the players supposed to perform? they must be either shitting themselves everytime the ball comes near, or just utterly demoralised, probably both.
*yeah i know pretty much every other set of fans in the country would be the same,
harry will talk him up, there'll be some rumours wenger might actually spend some money, then dalglish will slap £850 million on the table.
I'd want to be on the first bus to anywhere if I were a Blackburn player, and not just because of having to live near Blackburn. Booing after the game, demonstrating- fine. Hell knows Kean and Venky's deserve that much. Booing throughout an absolutely vital derby game? Fucking idiots.
most of Bolton's senior players are out of contract in the summer. Can they really be that motivated?
It seems like their board have been preparing to get relegated. I mean, if you know you're on the way already it makes sense to not renew the contracts of high-earning staff, but it would appear that someone must've made the decisions before the season even got going.
If they go down, more than any of the other clubs who might do, they'll be absolutely fucked.
Jussi; Steinsson, Cahill, Knight, Robinson; Gardner, (Sean) Davis, Blake, Petrov; K Davies, Klasnic.
Chung Yong may be one but I can't recall.
We're in negotiations with Jussi and he has always kicked his heels around before signing new terms. Cahill will go in jan (fair enough)and I'm not fussed with the others. The only ones I would like to retain are klasnic and, if he keeps performing like he did tonight, petrov. But that's a rare occurrence.
It is still a mystery/scandal as to why we extended Robbie fucking Blake's contract last summer.
we're fucked. that's why im so ecstatic tonight.
It's the hope that kills you.
Not sure why a supporter of any North-West club would want to see other local sides go down, in the very least because it's easier away days.
The bottom and top threes of the Premier League and Championship staying as they are could end up a right pain in the arse travelwise for next season.
indeed, i like going to local clubs for derby games, always a lark.
But if it's a choice between playing Blackburn in the championship next year or staying up at their expense it's a no-brainer
I couldn't really care less...I'm just ecstatic at the minute.
Dropping Davies, Pratley and Robinson was completely warranted (and in the case of SKD coming to a derby game, a brave call) and we just looked so much more mobile and pacy. Alonso and Petrov worked very well together, and I have a lot of love for Muamba and Reo-Coker at the minute.
Of course, we still have fundamental problems in defence and this result will mean fuck all if we don't back it up against newcastle and wolves because our january fixtures are horrific. But this could be a starting point. Could.
Yes, we nearly didn't win. Then again we nearly didnt score a bucket load. The point is we won what was probably the biggest game we've had for many a year.
The overall thing though was that the fighting spirit was there. The players played like their future depended on it. That hasn't been the case for pretty much all of this season.
And I was half a minute away from a cardiac arrest by the end. I was caring because my team was. I'd missed that.
ps. The Blackburn 'support' today reminded me of us at the tail end of the Megson era...bad, man.
brb gonna down a litre of whiskey.
I don't know how much credence to give the fact you looked likely to score every time you came forward because of how unbelievably bad Blackburn's defending was- but then you're relying on N'Gog to stick those chances away, which is an absolute hiding to nothing.
Swansea must still be pissing themselves over the fact you took Pratley off their hands. I'm amazed it took Coyle this long to drop him.
and in fairness has such a huge task filling Holden's boots as it is. probs our player of the year so far (not saying muuch i know).
True re: ngog, but it's just good to see some movement and creativity up to again...he set up Mark Davies for the first remember. As much as SKD is a club legend I think it's time he was put out to pasture.
And Pratley is fucking wank, aye.
not unexpected, but still very annoying.
Will we every stop kicking that club in the teeth?
Come on, even Blackburn managed four!
loving the obligatory flatcapped gent as well.
If that's not worth a brutal sacking then i don't know what is.
It was a reasonably good game. Nothing more, nothing less.
When do the figures get released?
