Brian Cox being Brian Cox in front of a load of hangers-on basically. Good stuff. Get your knob out, Bri!
I enjoyed it although found it hard to follow on a number of occasions :)
for all Cox' protestations to the contrary, quantum physics is mind bendingly complicated and inexplicable to the layman. Although it kind of showed that certain things were proveable if you had the a brain the size of a planet. The problem the physicists face is that everyone else just has to kind of take their word for it.
so everything was skimmed over, and like you say you had to just take his word for it.
Having done Physics at uni I enjoyed it as a nice little recap, but yes when you get past the nice analogies it is mend-bendingly complicated and the maths is insane. The only exam I ever failed was my Quantum Mechanics 3rd year paper.
Still - it was good to see something like that getting a 'prime' slot (reminded me of the RI Christmas Lectures, except more for adults), and watching simon pegg doing that standing wave was surprisingly hilarious :D
I thought it really disrupted the flow, and often they were quite distracting, which isn;t great when somthing complicated is being explained. I still thought it was great though.
didn't help get the point across there at all, and if anything jsut added to the 'ooh this physics stuff is too hard for me' feeling a lot of people have.
They need to get it on at prime time. Straight after the Queen's speech.
