It was closer to what my teen years was like than Skins was.
It was funny most of the time which is par for the course for channel 4 sitcoms.
It captured the crapness of being a teenager in suburb really well.
It was funny in a nostalgic way although also cringeworthily bad in places, as it went on the cringing got more common and the laughs dried up a lot.
might have been more enjoyable if i was in a better seat, i was in the very first row on the very end. Everyone's head looked weird a distorted
A script which the writers of 2 pints of lager would weep at, and acting to match.
Surprisingly/unsurprisingly pretty well liked on here.
i find jay a bit annoying sometimes but there were numerous jays at school so it rings true at least. and they were all as relentlessly disgusting.
then they just ignored that completely.
The film looks like an entirely different animal.
in capturing the sixth form experience and the frustrations of being that age. But it also had a habit of taking a joke too far to ridiculous measures, where it thereon lost its accuracy. I mean I loved the episode from the last series where they are all just staying over at someones house, eating toast and trashing flowerbeds. That I could connect with. But I disliked the last episode where the car drowns in a lake and they are all simultaneously puking.
the smaller things are very accurate and funny.
The bigger lols like being sick and simon's nut hanging out bring the lols but are more obvious.
Having said that, someone's nut hanging out will always be funny
just the usual getting shit on by birds, being sick that kind of thing.
Sounds like that kid deserved it for trying to be edgy.
but that's because my sense of humour hasn't matured much and I still find jokes about people's mums hilarious.
It's pretty bad though. And I don't buy the realism thing. It's just like Skins. Fairly normal situations blown to extreme proportions for laughs and/or drama.
like when they try and fail to go to a club in london, the skins lot would not only be in the club but having the best time anyone's ever had. they're all also pathetically awful with women which is something skins glosses over when dealing with teenage boys.
I just meant in the sense that they both take teenage experiences and make them ten times more extreme for entertainment.
Skins just goes the every night is a drug-filled orgy of funtimes route whereas Inbetweeners goes every day is another opportunity to do something completely ridiculously cringeworthy way.
that's how it works
it might be more realistic if for half the episodes they just sat around bored but then it'd be shit.
was about a million times cooler than anybody I went to school with.
8/10 for cultural relevance and 9/10 for execution. But it's so much more than the sum of its parts. 10/10. A triumph. Thread of the year.
Here we go.
when it comes to showing 6th form life
as it went on it tended to get more exaggered and lost a some of its 66that was my life!99 charm
the lion, the witch and the speccy kid who shat himself
Thought the film was hilarious. Felt like I was 17 again...
and I liked the movie
Because... well the Characters for the most part are handled well and it does gross out comedy well. It's good for belly laughs and not thinking laughs and it does have some heart amongst all the sex jokes.
I saw the film yesterday and enjoyed it despite Simon being a total dick in it.
film was pretty good too.
Couldn't give a flying fuck whether it was 'realistic' or 'captured teenage life' or some shit. Lack of 'realism' is only annoying when a show/film is shit in every other way too (in which case being 'realistic' wouldn't do anything to improve it).
