One of my guiltiest pleasures is a sneaky peice of chicken on the way home to my gf's lovely vegetarian cooking. I just can't help myself.
We've had the explosion of high end burger joints, now its time for a soul food revolution. I think it could take off big time. Any investors?

on a Saturday afternoon, look out for a charity who's staff have enterprisingly built a pizza oven on an unused bit of land and are knocing out amazing Italian style pizzas to raise money they are losing in funding cuts. The Big Society: staff working for free on Saturdays!

Thing is though, chicken is chicken.
High quality fried chicken is not too different from the lower quality Perfect Fried Chicken stuff (unless there has been some kind of chicken revolution I'm not aware of), whereas cooking a burger has vastly more permuations where you can introduce a variance of quality and taste.
Of course, you can make it more ethical but I don't think there'll be a significant leap in quality to justify the inevitable extra cost. Gourmet fried chicken would be a challenging business that's for sure.
And for that reason, ahm oot.

I think the takeaway market is crying out for
Italian food, not just Pizzas. Can't think of anywhere where you can rock up and order a big slice of lasagne or a box of carbonara. A big box of pasta would be ace after a night on the town.
thing is, even italians don't really eat takeway pasta
they have mini pizzas, sausage sandwiches, fried pastry filled with cheese and ARANCINE, the king of all takeaway snacks.

when I was at school, we used to go into town for lunch to an italian delicatessen, where you could get a box of freshly made pasta with sauce for £1.50 or something. It was amazing. More places should do that.

I suppose not all of them, but certainly a lot. At the moment most are even closed on Sundays so they're missing out on the hangover market too.
I think it's mental that more places don't do falafel as the veggie alternative.
Especially in places like McDonald's or Subway, where the vegetarian burgers are basically just chopped up potato and carrot and stuff like that fried in a patty.
Falafel's ridiculously cheap to make but actually tastes nice. Do takeaways ever have it as an option? Fuck no do they.

I have a friend who's obsessed with potatoes and cooks them every day and normally I'd bow to his potatoe preferences but he likes his roasties very big with loads of fluffy white flesh in the middle.
I like the fluffy middle sure, but I like my roasties irregular shaped and sizes, some small and crispy, some medium and still crispy.
Maybe this is because your friend is a particular kind of potato enthusiast

I can get 6 (but they sometimes bung in 8) wings and chips for £2. It's a tough market.

but a) I'm not a chef and b) I don't trust the British public to be honest with the sticks.

There's a couple of pintxo bars knocking about but they tend to be
more of a tapas ordering thing rather than plates and plates on the counter help yourself thing. Would be great but I just don't think it would work with Brits, much like the German beer system they have in some places where you just get your glass refilled, your beermat stamped and you pay before you leave. We're too sneaky a nation and those places would be bankrupt within months.
Any takeaway food that's both reasonably healthy and cheap, really.
I really fail to understand why Asian style street stalls haven't taken off here. It would be pretty simple-get a vat of rice going and cook a few other bits on the side. Cheaper than chips! It's bizarre that nothing has stepped in to fill the hole that single income families (i.e. one partner having time to cook) have left.
