I know we have quite a few public sector workers on DiS. Everyone in support of the strikes or is anyone against it?
I shall be on strike on wednesday. I already pay a hefty amount into my pension each month - having to contribute more would make it unaffordable for me. It's also incredibly depressing to know that we'll all have to work much longer and our pensions will be worth less. Most public sector jobs pay significantly less than if we were doing the same job in the private sector so I think it's quite right we stand up for our pension rights.
Given the ongoing saga with bailing out banks and the fact that our (completely unjustified) action in Libya is said to have cost circa £300m it makes me really angry the way this government is cutting costs. We are already losing vital services that support the most disadvantaged in society. Typical Tories huh. (sorry, getting a bit ranty now)
Anyway, this article about the strikes is quite interesting http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/nov/27/wednesday-strike-start-rebuke-elite
i know right: tl;dr but I am interested to know what people on here think?
