I have no idea when your birthday is so I thought I'd use mine.
I was just writing birthday cards for two people I know who share a birthday and was thinking about my OWN birthday which is not today....sadly. I was thinking how much I would enjoy that new Smiths box set, but do I really need it? After all, I have all the albums already and it dosn't necessarily contain anything new - except the boxing and new artwork, which I admit is something of an enticement, but it's a lot to ask for a birthday present you're not sure you want. I will be happy with whatever I get, I'm sure, most of my family know me pretty well so I'm sure I'll get something good, and isn't it usually better to get something slightly less than perfect but still be surprised? I think so.
So, it's your birthday clownbomb? You got any plans for today? Or for the next few days, perhaps you already celebrated your birthday recently? I personally have no problem with celebrating my birthday when it's convenient for most of my family and friends. It's not the specific day that's really important, it's the once-a-year celebration and it's a totally reasonable thing to give a few days either side for convenience. Last year I had my birthday the friday before and it was much better than it would have been had I had it on the actual day - a monday.
Once again, happy birthday, have a great day!
So my daughter (who is awesome and introduced me to Coheed and Cambria) bought me a CD for a birthday gift... and that CD was... MYLO XYLOTO.
Which is funny because we visit Starbucks every day, and every day I pick up a copy of Mylo Xyloto at the counter (Starbucks is a CD shop now, in case you didn't know) and sort of fondle it and rub it up against my cheek and say, "OMG look sweetie, it's... MYLO XYLOTO."
So I unwrap it yesterday in genuine surprise and she explains, "Well, you're always picking it up... I wasn't sure if you were just joking or if you actually wanted it." AND THE THING IS:
I wasn't sure either.
I think I'm Coldplay-curious. OUTED.
