These political threads a becoming more and more obnoxious. I'm protesting them!
Sometimes they're well boring but sometimes its funny watching all the boys get their handbags out and start turning into girls.
That we have a relatively young demographic on this site (16-30 would be 90% of the social board's active posters I guess), who are relatively left wing in nature, and whom because of their age don't have much, if any experience of living under a Conservative-led administration. Having been used to 13 years of a Labour government, they're seeing policies that they're not used to.
Also though, the nature of debate on the internet means views and opinions seem to get more extreme. The fact that the likes of Creaky, who puts forward dangerously radical and authoritarian policies, is seen as some sort of wise messiah illustrates this pretty well.
During the last couple of years the views of the mass of commentators in the political threads has got more and more distanced from the average man or woman in the street's perspective.
No one on here regards me like that(apart from me) anschul markee and thewza command far more respect, I am acknowledged as a mumbling fool who struggles to keep on topic, all I have is that I am able to see the future that others cant seem to, or didnt want to talk about
Bamnan is far more messianic
makes me sound se*y and young and vibrant/vital
Its actually cringeworthy and I wish theyd all stop. Debate it, fine, but fucking hell, dont be a smug prick about it.
but you dont come across as smug ;)
Let's get some strong NEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD action going!
and I'm not sure who I'd class as smug... the ones on the right whose views are currently in power or the ones on the left whose views represent a slightly less conformist ideal
or the ones who just troll whose real views are secondary to the childish thrill of trying to get on peoples nerves for the lulz
everyone's gonna seem a bit smug talking about politics.
and all those people in and out of sexual relationships with each other posting on here about their conquests and problems and shared lives - smug gits
but Ive NEVER spoken about how Ive banged half the girls on here
I was suggesting that all those kind of threads when viewed through the intoxicating nausea of solvent based warrior decoration must also seem rather smug
Im on 4chan mate, could get you put in prison for being a paedo
They give me loads of quotes to say in the pub to look like I've done my research.
regarding how the neo-con nature of our current political climate has polarised what would have been otherwise moderately political individuals, and yes, this does have consequences for political threads these days. But enough is enough I say.
get THEM to stop making future ruining stupid decisions when they are running the country, and perhaps then there will be no impetus for some of us to let off steam somewhere and then everyone can just keep posting in the everlastingly entertaining threads of purility
its nothing but a good thing that young people are talking politics. beats threads about favourite sandwiches or what should i watch first, the wire or breaking bad?
most of them are about 30
The IMF's European department head Antonio Borges has just resigned
is that politics, economics or current affairs?
Well, that's the official line so far anyway.
And I guess it covers all three areas you suggest.
I think they used to be worse- lots more namecalling and pwopa bedwetters like RockNRollMassacre in internet tears at CG's trolling.
They were more interesting and involving, simply because there were a wider range of topics that were debated on. I think the antipathy shown by natural Labour supporters on here to the policies enacted in the Blair / Brown years provided fuel for some good debates. Nowadays (and perfectly naturally) the vast majority of the debates focus on the economy and DiS tends to speak as one on that.
"pwopa bedwetters like RockNRollMassacre in internet tears at CG's trolling" - Those were the halcyon days. Whatever happened to R&R?
than it has been at any other point since I started posting, tbh. There's still a healthy variety of opinions amongst those who agree on broader political terms.
People should have their say, because those are issues that affect everyone. That is what true democracy is all about, something that most politicians have forgotten about, letting the people have their say.
I might have more sympathy if you hadn't been responsible for the third TV thread today consisting almost solely of people naming the same shows as the other two but now with the added twist of saying you don't like them...
At least they're not so obnoxious though
I don't consider threads discussing the future of all of us obnoxious. I can, however, get a bit tired of TV show listing.
