Scout [Edit] [Delete] 83 replies 16:58, 6 November '11

I just watched this about Blackpool, loads of old footage, it's ace

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00tlvj3/Blackpool_on_Film/

I have leftover from last night's AMAZING dinner and I'm trying to decide which gig to go to later, or whether to stay home and continue air drumming in my bedroom. My rats are ready but I can't get a lift to pick them up, WOE IS ME.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

I was telling someone about those on Friday

  • it's pretty cold in my flat.

have to do a 10-minute presentation on macrocytic anaemia to my ENTIRE YEAR (that's 180 people) on Tuesday, trying to write it at the moment. Too easily distracted by the internet though, as per.

    OceanStorm | 6 Nov '11, 17:13 | X
    • practice it on tinychat tonight

      Scout @OceanStorm | 6 Nov '11, 17:17 | X
      • haha, that might actually be a tougher crowd than a year of medical students

though I've never actually been on tinychat, so I can't really judge. I always imagined it was just like MSN, is it more like Skype then (with video and sound)?

        OceanStorm @Scout | 6 Nov '11, 17:25 | X
        • it depends on the night

          who can say!

          Scout @OceanStorm | 6 Nov '11, 17:29 | X
          • I can say

That it is absolutely soul destroying

  • Evening plan (tentative)

Get some work done, then eat steak and watch the US Office.

    Evening plan (likely)

    • my plan is starting to look like that too

as one of the gigs I was thinking of going to starts really early so I might miss it.

I already saw US Office this week though, boo :(

      good luck

      Scout @whiterussian | 6 Nov '11, 17:28 | X
      • it's only like 5 minutes in front of maybe 20 people, so not a disaster

i just hate preparing for these things. i also have to give the presentation together with some guy who barely speaks english

  • There is something deeply wrong about working on Sunday and then having to work Monday

    Deeply wrong.
Have you decided to call your rats Chaka Demus and Pliers yet?

    stormcrow | 6 Nov '11, 17:18 | X
    • you know, I have been worrying about not choosing 90s names for them

it goes against all my ethics. I don't know, I like the names I've chosen but, hmmmm, need more 90s.

      Scout @stormcrow | 6 Nov '11, 17:21 | X
      • What did you go for then?

If it's better than CD&P I'll give you: A TV licence (from 2009 I think); a roll (part-used) of insulation tape; an old set of car keys and a hat.

        stormcrow @Scout | 6 Nov '11, 17:49 | X
        • Well, I'm pretty sure Buckminster and Astrid

but I dunno, I'll have to wait til I see their lovely little faces

          Scout @stormcrow | 6 Nov '11, 18:01 | X
          • Those are good names...

but I shall be keeping my precious things

            stormcrow @Scout | 6 Nov '11, 18:21 | X
  • I changed it up and slept in the spare room last night

its smaller and warmer. Im still sat here now under the duvet applying for jobs and filling out applications.

when will you get your rats then? can you get a lift this week?

    MissBass | 6 Nov '11, 17:20 | X
    • Tuesday I think but I really want to go now :(

I don't know any one with a car except my mental housemate who I'm keeping them secret from

      Scout @MissBass | 6 Nov '11, 17:27 | X
  • I liked that bit too

THEY'VE JUST BEEN BLOODY THROWN UP!

I'll look up that guy, ta :D

Thanks for that link, I'm actually going to write about White City soon so that's awesome! Apparently that's the cleanest location to have it, the way the wind blows or something, so it would stay white longer there. But there's also suggestions that it's there because the architect's local boozer was down the road. Thanks kik! <3

spent most of this morning figuring out how to use excel and mail chimp. i also successfully set up a printer and scanner. i thought i was rubbish with computers but it seems to be working ok for me. probably spent too much time around all you nerds. and i joined the aquatics centre. later i'm going to use the sauna. sooo excited about this.

    DarwinDude | 6 Nov '11, 17:30 | X
    • i don't know what they're gonna do though

      • Went to some stupid bar in Brick Lane last night

where a security guard WATCHED me take a piss.

Tonight I'm going to eat some ribs and pretend I don't have work tomorrow.

        DanielKelly | 6 Nov '11, 17:34 | X
        • I was on Brick Lane last night

Was it just me, or was the atmosphere a bit... tense?

          Kitchmo @DanielKelly | 6 Nov '11, 17:48 | X

      • Sorry to rub it in guys, but I'm not working tomorrow!

Week off! Going back to Cardiff for a few days. Have had a fantastic weekend, will spend this evening with X Factor and doughnuts. At the moment though, I'm finding is strangely hard to turn off Songs of Praise...

        • I'm in Cardiff atm too

Advance warning: it's raining a lot most of the time and there are a load of banners up for some rallying thing that's happening at the end of this week.

          • I always expect rain when I go back to Wales.

It's one of those sterotypes that's disappointingly true.

            • Let me know if you're planning on swinging by the middle at all

There's actually a restaurant called The Meating Place on St Mary Place which is almost too perfect to be true.

          • Probably won't see much of it beside the station,

my parents live in a little place outside Cardiff so I'll mostly be there, enjoying the pub with my old school friends who never managed to escape, god bless 'em.

            hip_young_gunslinger @whiterussian | 6 Nov '11, 19:15 | X

      • Scout, have you watched the vbs documentary on Blackpool?

Not sure what I'm doing tonight. I've spent most of the weekend being antisocial and watching streaming movies via Lovefilm. Might continue with that tbh. I was gonna do some work but I'm mega exhausted from walking around Edinburgh in the cold doing a building-use survey on a couple of streets ZZZZZzzzzzz

          • it's very good

            bleak.

i remember someone on here found a 40 bed hotel for sale that would've worked out at like £5k a head if full. we should all move there and turn it into an indie colony, it'd be awesome.

            guntrip @Scout | 6 Nov '11, 18:03 | X
            • I remember that too

              Blackpool is so grim

might go for some drinks after. Spent most of today watching Breaking Bad. So good!

      • Doing an essay on The Waste Land.

It's horrible, Eliot just threw together loads of bits of other stories into one and somehow made it really gay.....this is more or less what I am writing about.

      • I wen tto Blackpool last year, for a *lads* event

it was a really good night out, but was really depressing at the same time, as I remembered all the holidays I went on when I was really young, and it is such a family unfriendly place now (I witnessed a 40+ person fight in the middle of the day).
