Not just the news story itself, but "in 2009, he served as a conduit in San Francisco's signing of wide receiver Michael Crabtree after an extended holdout"
So, if you have troubles with signing a player, get Hammer in and he'll get it done.
With him involved, I reckon we wouldn't of had a lockout in the first place!
I've made a good few changes myself. Not that it will make a difference, the Steamers have Drew Brees who is playing the Rams :(.
only one man down through so probably won't be tinkering too much, should probably have cut one of my QBs by now thought really
Newton against Vikings this week though, should be helpful
fairly heavily on Colts and Rams players this week. We've got Vick vs Newton too, battle of the RBs pretending to be QBs. Should be interesting
otherwise he's outtahere
not sure how I ended up with 2 Colts players, that was a mistake
I'm wondering why don't you swap one of them for someone who's playing this week?
did somebody say panic buy?
He'll come good when Bradford is back from injury.
You could well be in trouble.
Also, the Chris Johnson you traded me doesn't seem to be the one on the box. That one is supposed to be good, the one I have looks like him but doesn't work.
There's still time for him to come good! Pretty soon Stafford will get crocked and it will be an even trade.
I seem to be relying on unproven youngsters every week, I need Andre healthy!
I wonder how many more weeks I'll be saying that?
Andre's practising again I think, shouldn't be too long.
Worst run defence in the NFL.
Goshdarn Drew Brees. I guess everyone's entitled to a shitty week once a season, but with my pisspoor receiver corps (outside of a mercifully decent Anquan Boldin) I have been royally trounced this week. I should stop pissing about with waivers; I can't even remember half of the dreck I've had come through my roster this year.
how about Patrick Kane's spin-o-rama pass to The Hoss eh?
Crosby has almost recovered from the headache he's had since January
that's all, thanks
You need to get your own thread.
your little rubber biscuits and your tiny, tiny little goals and GET THE HELL OUT.
How has this season been going and who are the team to beat so far?
How have the Lightning been going?
but will still lose because Brady is always a God against us
Is he always really good at throwing it in the air against the Steelers? I've got him in my fantasy and wondering whether to put him in, as I've got Tebow too.
In the US, it's mostly the God thing. But, to other people, he's just such a charismatic player. His type of running is a little like Newton, whereby he can barrel through people to get where he wants to go. He can lead people and makes every person on the team play harder. Examples of this, are the Chargers game when he came on in the 2nd quarter and almost won and this weeks game. He was awful for 3 quarters, but he turned a switch and they won the game.
Brady definitely has some sort of grudge against us, i expect him to throw the ball 40+ times and probably get at least 2 tds. Also the Steelers seconday is oddly bad at interceptions at the moment, Ike Taylor has always had hands of stone and is more of a shutdown corner but Troy is usually a complete ball hawk and has looked out of sorts recently.
I have Tebow as well and you can start 2 QBs in my league and I'm still benching him in favour of Newton and Eli
I'll definitely stick Brady in then.
I would totally put Newton in over Tebow, but I'm not sure I would with Eli. The Lions aren't good against the run and I suspect Tebow will run a fair bit or at least get 1 rushing TD. Who are the Giants playing this week?
Plus the Dolphins are just bad.
Tebow has the potential to do well against Detroit but I still like that defense to keep him out of the end zone
and less so in RBs. Just to be considered. (how DO you pick between Smith, Austin, Maclin, Fitzgerald AND Green? I ask you.)
Baltimore to right some wrongs, though Fitz will be a problem. No Beanie Wells though should mean we're ok. As long as we you know, give it to Ray Rice.
Cam time against the Vikes.
Houston, Giants, Saints, Titans all with easy early game wins.
late games far more evenly matched:
skins/bills pretend its subperbowl '92. (Simpsons references galore)
Suh tells Tebow to shut up after a tackle, is then criticised for it.
Cincy try and better Cleveland's 6-3 win over seattle. Charlie Whitehurst sees if its possible to get any worse.
Niners give the browns a dry-hump.
Pittsburgh/Pats, undeniably game of the week, sees points everywhere, Pittsburgh thinks they've won, and then Brady turns into Godzilla.
Philly Dallas should be fun too, also probably fairly high-scoring. DeMarco Murray doesn't do anything LIKE last week, thus fails.
Chargers and Chiefs wonder why ESPN picked them.
I at least respect the Steelers (well, Mike Tomlin anyway). Due to divisional reasons though I hope they fuck each other up and Brady still somehow finds Wes Welker in the parking lot.
I think Welker may have a quieter game than usual, Ike Taylor's been playing pretty well and the bigger recievers that we've been up against are usually covered pretty tightly by him, he's become a proper shutdown corner.
Brady will still have a big day though, i expect one of those TEs will probably do quite well as we've been playing Polamalu quite deep and we'll obviously blitz Woodley and Timmons regularly, so i reckon you'll see a lot of checkdowns to Hernandez and Gronkowski
I meant bigger in name, obviously the only big thing about wes welker are his stats
game for 6 days again. Even though I've forked out £170 for Gamepass. This frustrates me soo much. Last year, you could watch it like an hour after the game had finished, but they've changed it this year.
Anyway, I gotta agree about the Pats game. I think the Pats are gonna keep the Steelers quiet and dominate this game quite a lot.
Can't see Tebow winning again this week, the Lions D is too dominate.
For some reason, I think the Giants Dolphins game could be quite good, no idea why.
It shouldn't matter anyway, I need Ray Rice and Drew Brees to fail to be in with a shout. Unlikely.
based on Monday.
(i'm sure/pray they'll learn from that though)
Bill Cowher won't talk to unless we fire Sparano, thereby telling the world we've tried talking to him. Reggie Bush says we 'stink'; Yeremiah Bell contends that it is in fact Bush who indeed 'stinks' - a back-and-forth reminiscent of the Lincoln-Douglas debates. We've got one of the QBs in who always seems to turn up when your first 4 choices are unavailable, whose name escapes me and probably most of his teammates too.
Some good match-ups, hoping the Lions keep rolling against the Broncos. Fantasy-wise I'm struggling this week with byes.
New Orleans v St Louis - that score's the wrong way round...
So much craziness this week.
A lot of potentially tight games at the moment
really wanted the Cards to win this one to be able to laugh so hard.
why does it have to be against the Panthers. Now I can only see us possibly getting 2 more wins out of the whole schedule.
I wouldn't worry too much about final record - Cam is quite clearly the future.
but it's so frustrating as a fan of the team to be "one play away". If the defense could step up, I would be happier. Cam is the future, for sure, but he really can't do all himself.
could mean playoffs next year. Believe.
and ended up getting Ndamukong Suh out of it, now look at them.
Hopefully everyone in Carolina is happy to wait for a few more pieces to fall into place and not worry too much about their record right now
I think just watching Cam doing anything is worth the ticket price alone, he's like the next Mike Vick but hopefully without the dogfighting
Instead of going for a defensive pick in the first round, I would go for a RT. Out of our current two, Otah hasn't finished his last three seasons without going IR and Bell is just struggling and getting dominated. Hence why we don't have a run game. I would get a decent defensive guy from free agency or in a trade.
All this depends on who is coming out of College next year and what defensive guys are available.
makes next week more interesting I suppose.
Pittsburgh do this every fucking year, they have been the best AFC team for the last 3/4 years and yet no one really acknowledges them because they're not the pats. Today went a big way to showing that up. Given the current form (and being at Heinz field) everything points Pittsburgh, but then our rivalry is never really based on form.
Still they have the components Baltimore need and its incredibly frustrating.
Our 3 young receivers are looking better and better every week and Mike Wallace showed again that he's more than just a deep threat. Lamarr Woodley had another big day til he went off with a hamstring injury, he said on facebook that he's definitely playing on Sunday.
But you're right, it's never really about form in those games. It'll no doubt be decided by a few big plays (hopefully by Mike Wallace)
you would like to this whoever wins next week will probably go on to be the strongest AFC team. If I stay up for no other late match this season, Im gonna have to make the effort next sunday.
How different a world from week 1!
So i'll be avoiding this thread, facebook and my phone until I can get home and watch it
so this is my monday aff.
LET THE BANTS BEGIN!
I love live SNF on Channel 4 (when I don't have work on a Monday morning at least). Philly are dominating at the moment, bit embarrassing for the Cowboys so far.
FUCK. THE. COWBOYS.
Couldn't the Cowboys just have beaten them this week and got a few interceptions. I mean how inconsiderate.
Antonio Brown is the future.
stupid move (he's still there, but probably missed his big game)
Was lucky enough to catch the surprisingly good Passing Backward Going Forward in a week where his QB, 2 RBs, kicker and defence all didn't start.
The dreaded Peterson bye week next week.
Severed799, how do you think Flacco will do against the Steelers this week? He's been dogger recently but he normally gets his act together for the big rivalry rite? Wondering whether to pick someone else up.
whether that means the Steelers are gonna sit in Cover 2 and 3 and force the run I don't know but it won't be the usual Steelers D out there. I'd probably start him depending on who your alternatives are.
I've got Boldin but I'm benching him as I don't want to profit from a Raven against Pittsburgh
was the first time I think Flacco has ever been convincing against the Steelers. That's not necessarily hard, the Steelers are incredibly tough to play against, but he doesn't have a great record against them. I think what's important, obviously, is that Ray Rice sees lots of the ball (probably as a faux-Tight End than as a running back) and that Boldin keeps his form from the 2nd half of the Cardinals game.
Honestly though, this rivalry is about defence. Defence, defence, defence. What is most important is that we pressure Ben (not that that seems to bother him much because he's huge) and make sure our coverage, particularly of Mike Williams, is sound. We also need to force turnovers, because as Smyth will know, turnovers win these games.
I'm less terrified and more excited now going into the weekend, but still pretty scared. It's a BIG game which could (probably will) decide the division and even the playoffs. As noted, the Steelers' injury problems will be a big help, but tbh, they always want to beat us and vice verca, so it doesn't really matter who is playing because you know there is always going to be %110 going in.
Best rivalry in sports.
or anyone on the Waiver Wire? I personally would never trust Flacco, hence why I've never owned him on fantasy :P
Same with Kolb who would be my next choice. Hasselbeck doesn't have a good matchup (Bengals). Don't trust Carson Palmer. I might just write this week off.
they're coming off a big win and Arizona are equally a mess right now.
this is madness guys, you're in the easiest divison and you have phillip rivers
The Chargers have been flattering to deceive for years now.
This is just embarrassing, as Damichek said last week, its time to stop considering Rivers as part of the elite, not until he gets his shit together, which to be honest, the ship is sailing.
Also football in West generally is pretty shocking.
NFC West is definitely the worst division
I am only interested in trading a top qual WR (of which I have many) for a top qual RB (of which I have one) OK?!
without looking I'm pretty sure you'd have nothing to make me want to break up my awesome Jackson/Forte combo though
This is exciting. Backing my Jets to topple the bills this week. Spread 'em out and shut 'em down. Maybin to get Fitz on the dirt at least twice.
Shonn Greene to run for 100 yards. Holmes to get a TD. Revis to get another pick.
what I like to see.
It will be a much tougher game than that though, not that it should be, but that's the Mark sanchez effect.
Azaria is amazing :D
LOL, Mr Azaria, LOL.
GET THE STOOGES ON!
thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away now, THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL! YAS!
Chargers Raiders is first up IIRC.
Anyway, it's week 9. New thread!
Is there any point to it?
like if someone is losing and can't be bothered any more and they trade their one good player, let's say, Adrian Peterson, to a team who are already doing quite well and have Arian Foster and only have to give up like a kicker or something stupid.
It's just so no-one has too unfair of an advantage, that's how I always read it anyway.
that if two teams are obviously colluding - ie one has agreed to basically give up and hand his good players to a mate - then you can stop it happening.
I'm quite sure it isn't there so you can stop someone trading me Frank Gore if that's what he feels like doing for some unknown reason. ;)
