Don't like that idea at all.
In fact, it would be barely any different from nowadays when you can set up parental controls to block what you see. No change to the opt in or anything. Justin Webb actually seemed to get a bit angry at the fact this was being announced by the Tories as some major step forward when it amounted to fuck all.
I'd imagine it'll be something like Google safesearch when you sign up to a new isp. Automatic option will be safe and then you can switch to no filter
A rough segment from memory:
Justin Webb: So is there anything in this at all?
Rory Cellan Jones: Well, there will be a new website where you can report inappropriate material on the web or TV. A sort of one-stop-shop of regulators.
JW: And will they have new powers to do anything about it?
JW: What a fucking waste of time. Here's the sport.
that one day very soon the news actually is just like that?
prob just a case of the Guardian trying to scare people.
Besides if it was an opt-in system that would basically be censorship by the govt, forcing men to admit they watch porn to their ISPs ain't right
this is what they do on your phones, i had to opt in with Three to get access to certain sites on my iphone, they wanted to charge me for some 'x package' but i complained and presented a number of sites to them that were blocked and not porn and they gave it me for free
that's fucking lame.
But the blocking disappeared after a few weeks.
Also: yr mobile phone company trying to sell you porn? pretty creepy
and for new users only. WIN.
Which is opt-out by any other name. Think a fair few journalists haven't read the government's press release properly.
Nothing wrong with a bit of wristy action every so often.
by using the iWank app.
Your ISP is going to be able to tell you look at the boobies anyway, you're not really giving much away.
