Exciting week ahead for both Scotland and ROI, as Euro 2012 qualification gets sorted. Scotland need to match the Czech result, although away at the best team in the world is perhaps not the best place to do it; wouldn't put it past them though, fingers crossed. ROI have an easier task, just needing to avoid defeat against Armenia.
Scotland win away at Lichtenstein, ROI beat Andorra and Wales' form impresses with a victory over the Swiss - they'll now be after 3rd place when they play bulgaria in the week.
Montenegro get a point against ENgland to secure a play-off place; the crowd/playuer reaction after their equaliser was amazing, especially the guy ripping up a piece of turf. Superb.
Was there any chat about Rod Liddell's Times column last week? "...in truth I cannot remember watching Titus Bramble play a game of football and not wondering if I'd tuned in by mistake to the Paralympics..." Wow.
ferguson manages to give a shake of the head and get welbeck out of u21 duty
Amazing how that differs from the way pearce deals with wenger
walker's missing as well
as his gf is birthing.
Mr Ferguson didn't feel like it would be good for the player and I can see his point
Fuck off, Pearce you piss kidney
:D
'piss kidney'. Amazing.
Wednesday go 2nd in League One flattering ourselves with a 3-1 win at home to Chesterfield
I also have a new team to hate. Stevenage. Not only do they pump us 5-1 earlier in the season, but they miss a penalty at league rivals Huddersfield and lose 2-1. THANKS OR TRYING TO RUIN OUR SEASON.
Also thank you Charlton ref for giving them a penalty for a Tranmere player sneezing in the box.
United v Wednesday on Sunday at noon. Disgracefuly it's not on any television station. It's actually a good thing because I'm already feeling sick about it.
GARY MADINE. GOAL MACHINE.
Stevenage are in free-fall
dreadful times at Fortress Broadhall Way.
*Fantastic
Dino Maamria acts like a tosser. Quelle surprise.
Stevenage are fantastic?
Knew you'd come round ;)
Hahahaha
*Fantastic times
it's not on any tv station? not even sky?
you're shitting me
Nope
Can't find any listing of it anywhere. Actually, I haven't checked ESPN, but I doubt it's on there.
Neither is the Black Country Derby :/
I expect the game on Sky on Sunday afternoon will be something thrilling like Bolton versus Norwich.
we beat them 2-1 a couple weeks ago
it was a thriller, thanks
We looked fantastic for the first half-hour on Saturday
then we got the first goal and completely sat back, allowing Chesterfield to put the pressure on. Fair play to Shezza, he's got Chesterfield playing some really nice football, and it was inevitable that Leon Clarke was going to score.
For the first time in a while, we look like a team with plenty of goals in us, never mind Goal Machine, coming back from injury is Ryan Lowe, he we haven't had a look at yet but came with glowing reviews and excellent pedigree in this league. Ben Marshall and Jose Semedo look a class above this division, some flaws in Marshall's game admittedly, but the lad's only 20 years old, plenty of time to iron them out. I don't think I've liked a player at Hillsborough as much as Semedo for a long time, player's literally bounce off him.
I haven't got a ticket for the Sty but I've got one for the beam-back at Hillsborough. A disgrace that is isn't being shown on Sky but fair play to Milan for taking it upon himself to organise the beam-back, meaning the fans have the opportunity to watch the game whilst earning the club some money (admittedly this is rather unfortunate for fans that aren't local).
Desperate stuff
careful mate, someone might pay attention to you.
arsenal didnt lose this weekend!
Has Rod Liddle actually every watched the paralympics?
Those people have roughly 60 times the poise and spacial awareness of Titus Bramble.
Blackburn Rovers beat India's mid table Pune FC 3-0 with Jason Roberts bagging a brace.
man with 'Kean Out' banner is ejected. Steve Kean just edging Steve Bruce to be next manager to leave. Mark Hughes, Rafa Benitez and Martin O'Neill installed as bookies favourites to succeed him. I'd have anyone to be quite frank. That is all.
Mark Hughes, Rafa Benitez and Martin O'Neill installed as bookies favourites to succeed him
couldn't they have included Curbishly as well, just to complete my 'lazy journo/bookie's obvious names in the frame bingo card'?
According to thesackrace.com
?11/8 – Mark Hughes
?5/2 – Rafa Benitez
?4/1 – Martin O’Neill
?10/1 – Alan Shearer
?10/1 – Alan Curbishley
?12/1 – Diego Maradona
?16/1 – Fraeme Souness
?20/1 – Slaven Bilic
?25/1 – Paul Lambert
?25/1 – Dave Jones
Yep, Fraeme Souness....
Going to be O'Neill, right?
Sunderland fan, and if they let him splash the cash he'd be able to build a decent team.
Sunderland have splashed the cash and have a good team
it's just Bruce hasn't been given enough time to gel them/is a moronic pinched-anus-floating-in-a-sea-of-dough-faced excuse of a manager, depending on your leniency.

Would be perfect for MON
- Moderate expectations? Check
- Loads of cash to spend on average players? Check
- Defenders who can kick the ball a really long way? Check
- Tall striker? Check
Look out, 9th place!
*6th
Over and over and over again.
I would love it to be Maradona.
Imagine that.
Rafa won't go there though no chance. He lives in the northwest, but he's always stressing how important "good, solid ownership" is to him in any future roles. I can't see him working with the chicken men.
i went home to watch Bradofrd beat Torquay
with 10 men
it was brilliant
Craig Fagan is about 5 leagues too good for us though
I wondered if it was Craig Fagan
who'd scored when I looked through the scores on Saturday evening. That's a mental signing.
yeah
not sure about Phil Parkinson tactically yet but he's managed to bring in 4 or 5 players that have been playing at Championship level within the last two years.
Hendon sign two more players,
bringing the squad to a size that would make Mancini blush. 35 or 36 signed on now, all but maybe one or two of which are of definite Ryman Premier quality. Makes our dozen or so long injury list irrelevant.
3rd in the table, a point of top with a game in hand. 2-0 win at Hastings, only side in the division not to have conceded double figures in total so far this season, Elliott Charles scoring at a goal a game. It's a good time to be a Hendon fan.
Won't last like, but y'know. Enjoying it while I can.
The list of managers linked to the Forest job is about as broadly speculative as I've ever seen
Although the thought of Alan Shearer having the job for a few months then quitting/getting sacked is fairly entertaining.
Shearer needs to be employed
if he is ever to be surgically removed from TV-land, picking up an envelope stuffed with taxpayer's money for numbing the nation's frontal lobes with the exact same set of witless platitudes dribbling out of his toddler-on-the-pottie face every fucking week. The problem is that no intelligent football club would ever employ the man, and the stupid ones would probably end up only putting up with him for three months.
as a toon fan i would be terrified
if he did quite well and suddenly morons will be clamoring for him to be reinstated -_-
OK guys, got a hypothetical question for you all:
Say you won a tidy sum on the Euro Millions, £100m or so. I was discussing with some friends what I'd do with the money, and after treating myself I reckon I'd buy out a non-league team and try to build them up into a solid League 1/2 outfit. I reckon you could on that kind of money.
Who'd you go for, though? Bearing in mind it'd have to be a team located somewhere a) with a good catchment area so you can build a fanbase, and b) not near any other already established teams.
My first thought was AFC Telford (new town, big population, no huge clubs nearby), but Telford isn't exactly glamorous.
Would you do it as a long term project through sound investment in the squad, management & facilities or just throw cash at it for a quick fix?
you don't want to be the new Crawley do you?
The former, though you can do what you want.
I'd be in it for the long run. You can't build a proper fanbase if you do it the Crawley way. They'll sink like a stone when the money runs out.
:D
That'd actually be brilliant.
I would definitely
invest some money in Hendon (obviously), but not so much that it would take us to a level beyond what we could sustain without that kind of money. Main priority would be to buy land and fund a new stadium before thinking about the on-field side of things.
What capacity?
He's the new James Milner.
I think as a defender near the beginning of your England career
all you have to do to impress is not look terrified every time you get the ball, run about a lot, and not gift the opposition more than one penalty/goal per match.
Considering the quality of the England defence
what you've described does impress me.
you've really got a bee in your bonnet about Jonesy haven't you?
Bless.
Best English centre back since Mark Wright
Africa Cup of Nations teams sorted
Egypt, Cameroon, South Africa (who mistakenly thought a draw was good enough in their last game, when they needed to win), Nigeria (and Algeria too I think) all fail to qualify
who mistakenly thought a draw was good enough in their last game, when they needed to win
:'D
Memories
of Man City playing keep ball against Liverpool at 2-2 years ago when they needed another goal to stay up :)
:D Steve Lomas own goal, them keeping it in the corner at 2-2, Alan Ball...
I miss that Man City
FA-adjudged liar, Brian Horton.
Lest we forget
nah, shopping mall probs
dunno if we have any fans of the 'east coast niggaz and your west coast niggaz' video here
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBYpzPZzrqA) but for the past two years me and everyone I know has been perplexed and confused by it. I asked him wtf it was all about on Saturday and he was totally unaware it had any kind of fame, and just casually explained himself via acting it out in front of me. It was pretty amazing.
What is this I don't even

He's the gift that keeps on giving

CRAIG DAWSON
GOAL MACHINE.
Really liking Hoffenheim this season.
Got in the ex St Pauli manager/crazy man.
Just signed a guy called Knowledge Musona from Kaizer Chiefs. KNOWLEDGE.
Babel is finally playing well. No, really.
Roberto Firmino looks like a real wunderkind.
lets hope arsenal fans don't get too attached to park chu-young
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/967564/arsenal%27s-park-chu-young-says-national-service-unavoidable?cc=5739
Reason #2 why he should've got a dodgy French passport.
(#1 being that Wenger would actually play him)
no one bothered about this?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15243945.stm
The only reason I am is due him being shite ever since taking Norwich to the premier league. Inevitable I guess, but he did do pretty well for a while there!
They've gone somewhat backwards in the last two years
so yeah it was inevitable. I guess Northern Ireland's achievements in the 80s is a hard job to live up to.
