Looks to be a Rory-centric one.
I'd probably say mostly Amy-centric.
..the problem with things like that happening to people (not to mention the to-do with Amy's baby) is that the format necessitates the characters at the start of the next episode be right as rain and ready to go adventure again. Sometimes it can rob what would otherwise be really emotional moments to know that there won't be any real emotional damage done - which is what is supposed to make the moments resonate in the first place.
From the trailer at the end, looks properly David Lynch. Need a good episode plz.
then again a steaming pile of shit is better than the last one
that single take of rory leaving the door and re-entering in two different time streams was simple but brilliant.
from the Doctors H2G2 style build-up for the place
Any idea when it's repeated? Seems like it's not on tomorrow?
Guessing it'll have been taken down by then?
The Grand Prix was instead. According to the listings, the only other showing is at 3am on Friday.
GOD I MISS THE INTERNET. Mobile allowance excluded.
I find it irritating that they usually repeat it the next day so it's so soon you miss it.
I'm glad the ending wasn't quite as shit as most who endings.
My only slight disappointment is it would have been even stronger had "future" Amy not relented and asked to be left behind, even if it would have also been ridiculously dark for family TV (would have been great to keep her around for a few episodes in fact as it would've really changed the dynamic)
Agree with heliolithic it'd be good if things resonated a bit more in future episodes.
That aside I thought it was a really strong episode.
bland rehashed ideas, rubbish world, rubbish robots and moments of ridiculous melodrama.
I regret nothing
The worst thing is that the directors in Dr Who are doing the exact opposite and running slowed dialogue at the same time which is awful. They did it in the first episode of this series too...
One of my absolute favourites, having watched since the start of the reboot, but opinion does seem to be very split.
When Rory finds Future Amy, she's all pissed off that the Doctor and Rory never came to rescue her. However, it then transpires that, in her past, another Future Amy refused to help Rory find and save her. Therefore, she refuses to help Rory find and save Amy out of spite, I guess. So, if she knew Rory came to save her, but just got messed up with the time streams, why is she pissed off and spiteful? Surely she'd just try to help him get back to the present time and save Amy, instead of moaning about being rewritten from time when, really, she should focus on saving her past self from becoming a total bitch.
Nobody wants to be left to die, regardless of the situation.
She'd just be erased from time. And by sacrificing herself, she'd be letting her past self get saved and live with Rory and so on, instead of aging away in misery.
stopping existing is the same as dying (unless ypu believe in an afterlife), but not having existed means, well, you never existed.
that's kind of the whole point of the episode, is not existing and never having existed better than dying? should she have sacrificed herself for her younger self? should rory just have taken the older amy or tried to change the past and erased her and her experiences.
What she had to eat all that time
but then remembered that the Doctor mentioned something about time manipulation, which is why she didn't feel hungry/the need to eat.
where she mentioned not feeling hungry in the time she'd already been there, which the doctor explained in some timey wimey way
where the Doctor says some stuff about being able to change the future if you know it and are stubborn and stuff.
Doctor 1, Spaceman 0.
was when that robot died cus rory hotnit with a painting, if that disables them then even I'd have no trouble dealing with them.
Kinda ruined the tension.
Next week's Shining rip-off might be good.
It was nice to not have an episode going at a thousand miles an hour and wrapped up in a neat package.
I especially enjoyed the Doctor being a bastard
I think that'll go straight into my all time top twenty.
The best of the three new ones so far.
It seemed a bit influenced by Portal.
I miss that.
We need some scary scary stuff, this new dr who series might look great, but.......(Or is it just cos i is now older?)
But with all the talk of global warming and the polar ice caps melting, there's such potential for an awesome episode set in 100 years time where the Arctic melts and the Ice Warriors turn up.
now are we?
