to save the world?
But it feels like it was NEARLY good. A few more script revisions and a better director away from being GREAT even.
Ok this is the nerdiest thing I'm ever going to say - forgive me Iggy....BUT that thing goes right through the middle of the earth and has been there for yonks? Well what about that giant female sexy spider thing that Dr Who battled in the Runaway Bride? That was living right in the middle of the Earth AT THE SAME TIME. <pushes glasses back up nose> <gets lunch money stolen>
I gave up
its truly truly awful
About overpopulation and healthcare and stuff. And what happens when systems break down.
Except it appears that when systems/society breaks down... nothing much happens. People still get nice haircuts and generally behave ok and occasionally you get news stories about `China has closed it's borders` but there's still food in the shops... It's all a bit half-arsed.
i gave up after about three / four episodes
everything about it is shit except the initial concept
i think you should stop watching it
i have also gone off doctor who a far bit. They don't know how to write conclusions to stories.
which means I've watched 9.
At least Dr Who has good dialogue and entertaining performances.
hows that paedophile doing?
has been stretched out over 9 hours.
Loads of actors have performed in a variety of different styles and with varying levels of skill.
Sad things have been underlined with sad music in case you didn't know they were meant to be sad.
Captain Jack just seems inappropriate in every scene.
Creepy paedo mugged a bread delivery man or something.
um... gash... as referred to above.
Honestly there IS the workings of a good idea in there. It's just been executed so shoddily.
massive reset button perhaps?
one of my fave narrative devices that
I might rewatch the first series soon. Total trash, but wonderful.
considering the quality of the previous mini series. It's gone back to how it started (hackneyed plots, 2d characters, eye grabbing explosions crowbarred into it to make up for the lack of coherence). Even 24 at its worst was never this bad. I'm willing to assume RTDavis had a good idea to start with but over the course of development it's been torn apart by committee, thus when it tries to be edgy and daring it just looks out of context and stupid, then the rest of it is just posing, shouting and explosions.
Oh plus the barrowman thing, can you really take him at all seriously when he's churning out crap covers albums and doing cheesy saturday night shows then this? It's like vernon kaye trying to be a serial killer.
Vernon kay as a serial killer
I'm sure he was never this bad in ER.
I have now idea why i'm still watching it, the writing is nothing short of atrocious.
Him and the one from 6ft Under..
...we're all too traumatised...
...I can't even be bothered to trash it...
...just so glad it's OVER...
if you CTRL+F on the list of topics you'll see I started one about it and the incredible earthen axe-wound.
and I stand by my original comment:
"so did anyone see torchw-"
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP! IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!! NOTHING HAPPENED!!! YOU CAN'T PROVE ANYTHING!!!" <sobs uncontrollably>
Bit like that...
