Good sounds from Venice. Same director as Let The Right One In. Pretty untouchable British supporting cast. Count me in.
but yes it looks excellent.
If any one is bored today or this week watch the BBC version from the 70s starring Alec Guinness. It's excellent.
Had a scene with Gary Oldman and Kathy Burke. Tomas Alfredson was lovely, probably the nicest director i've met. Really looking forward to this
Looks to be a good month for films, with this, Troll Hunter and Drive out this month
TOO MANY FILMS. Troll Hunter looks badass.
But there is a lot out - I guess there's the new Lars von Trier too but he's such a wind-up merchant these days it's hard to take any of his stuff seriously
I'm dancing like a 'hippie' in a blue shirt whilst Kaths and Gazza chat some bollocks at Oxford University. It's probably the standout performance in the film.
Currently reading the book. Keep forgetting the characeters' names.
but I want to read the book first.
Except I want to read the books before that and there are quite a few of them. :(
and found some of the intracacies of the plot in the film quite hard to follow. Also, had an issue with the names, particularly as Percy is often referred to as Allaline. It looks great though and the acting, as you'd expect is spot on.
Is apparently the first of the ‘Karla’ trilogy so I don’t think you need to read the previous Smiley books first. My Dad’s a big fan of John le Carre so I asked him if I needed to read them in order and he said I’d be fine starting with TTSS. Although saying that, I am getting a bit confused if some of the things they’re referencing in the book are just ‘things’ or ‘things from previous books’.
The other books with Smiley in aren't really referenced in the TTSS trilogy and on the odd occasion they are, it's not integral to the plot or anything.
Not sure if I'm looking forward to the film or not. Le Carre seems to think it's alright though, so can't be too bad.
i actually ended up going to the TTSS wiki page because there is a glossary on there of all the jargon they use in the show. Might be worth checking out.
I didn't even know Tomas Alfredson was directing. Excitement notched up further.
High hopes for this one.
