i had a go making cinder toffee (aka honeycomb aka the stuff in Crunchie bars) last night.
first attempt: burnt the sugar; it went in the bin.
second attempt: tastes nice but lacks a bit of volume, so it's more like toffee than crunchie. burnt the top of my mouth whilst taste-testing it.
am going to try a third attempt (with more bicarb and vinegar and a smaller tin) some time this week. and then collapse in a diabetic coma.
