Some people, eh? http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4303044#r6257946
It's to do with being a miserable old(er) cunt.
but with less dobbing
but with a touch more dobbing and a lot more sighing and fist shaking
but with the dobbing invisible due to a giant glowing ball of self-satisfaction that burns the human eye
still with the same amount of dobbing but one of old ma warny's fingers crudely sellotaped to the facebook button on meths new £50 a month phone
Her loom work has barely suffered at all
but instead of the grapes logo she used one of her in a mid-scissor kick pose completely naked. It was obscene.
consisting soley of badly photoshopped pictures of Di Canio smashing your face in with a pot noodle.
It's well good, innit.
Send him to the C-Zine forums where he can be around his own maladjusted kind.
oh, you *bats eyelids*
you can see that comment makes you look pretty bad, right? i have facebook, but i can't see it's particularly 'indie' to not have one. it's just a thing. and similarly, much as this is a UK website, it's got plenty of other readers from countries where spotify is not so prevalent, like the user in that instance.
as a further point, i'm not sure it looks good for drownedinsound as an investment or even advertising prospect if the site owner and administrator is going round being super-arsey with people on the messageboards. i'm sure it doesn't make too much difference really, but still
i don't disagree with you.
it just seemed like yet another backbite and i'm meant to be this let-it-wash-over-you eye of the storm but i don't run this site to be loved by anyone.
and, sometimes, very very very rarely, i have to do some things that are vaguely running the site as a business.
spotify is available most places now (nearly all DiS audience is in the UK). and it's free where it is available.
however, yes, i could have spent about £600 of developer time to build a voting form (as what we had last year broke the site). and then spent a few hours totting it all up. however, i have a feeling people would have complained more that something new was built, rather than speech marks and threadsmashes being fixed. plus i don't really have £600 anyway.
damned if i do and damned if if do something else. innit?
That sounds like a fairly ludicrous claim.
But that aside, the actual survey coulda been done on any number of free sites like surveymonkey or whatever, if cost is a critical issue.
As said in that thread, fb polls are throwaway, tacky, click-n-meh, no-need-to-engage-with-the-site jobbers. It'll fly around fb on the level of 'what's your favourite brand of baked beans' or whatever. Yeah, 1 squillion will probably vote. But will it truly-rooly boost the site, all told.
often want to capture data for their free services?
it's done now.
next time i will either do nothing or consult everyone before individually doing anything, rather than just doing it on a whim.
we've already had more votes than last year, i think.
p.s. last year, the voting system crashed the site about 20mins after it went live. so no-one could vote for the first day.
but a monthly one off $20 gives you much more options, upto 1000 response then fractions of a penny for any above that (and thing you can set a cut off), you own the data and it is kept very securely
You're stealing his lines.
That was the joke, wasn't it?
I suppose I should have one of those digital watches and a pair of those trainers as well?
thats my excuse. Also i dont like telling people everything i do every day, so have no need for twitter/facebook.
I DOIN IT RONG?
I'm Feeling Down About Clowns Today.
I post 700 times per day. Nearly nothing I say is positive or particularly in depth in its criticism.
But I change the name every few weeks.
Next week I think it'll be called I'm Reeling Roundabout Rowns Yesterday.
That's what I'd do, and it would soon brink people to heel.
Ban this moron!
we have attempted to band ALL OF CHINA to stop the spam.
anyone know anyone who can build me a cheap panic room for when they come get me?
Where's my 4 o'clock cuppa when I need it?
She's not going to take that well.
As far as I could see you were just trying to see how far you could go. Hmm.
(I haven't actually banned all of China. We added an 'indie test' to the site sign-up instead)
Nothing to do with indie-ness. Biiiiiig difference.
just like being 'i prefer the earlier stuff' and 'YOU WEREN'T THERE MAAAAAAN' in human form?
Nothing wrong with that attitude imo.
I havent used my facebook account in about 6 months btw.
I made my own jesus jones t-shirt in home economics!
Young people with their blast fm ghetto blasters and vinyl playing mobile phone apps can't be a real indie? http://www.bbc.co.uk/switch/them/amy.shtml
euthanise? you can pull the trigger on me in january KiK
Isn't that why you keep registering new usernames?
would be complaining, on a newsgroup somewhere in a parallel IRC-chat universe, that they wouldn't enter because they had to sign-up to DiS and don't want to be added to the Simply Red mailing list or whatever crazy conspiracy theories they have.
but just to reinforce the point: why care about people who aren't willing to sign up to DiS? if they ain't interested, they ain't interested. i stil don't get the direct benefit to you/DiS of playing around on fb to the max if the people on fb don't actually interact with DiS itself (other than brand awareness).
now it's only about 1000. and we get more than that from twitter.
at one point a few years back it was nearer 10k click-throughs.
a lot of people now only click on what's in their facebook feed.
partly it's because ad revenue pays my rent but mostly it's because people spend a lot of time writing great things for the site and i'd like them to be as read by as many people as possible and for the music we love to reach as many people who might like it too.
but another way of looking at it would be that Facebook user's habits have changed so that you're unlikely to get the click throughs any more, so you need to use other channels to drive traffic to your site now.
Could be entirely wrong for any number of reasons, not least that I don't pay attention to Facebook any more, but possibly worth considering.
But it's dug in, like some sort of social parasite. I'm hoping it will die soon. I'm not getting involved in the next one.
What have you got against circles?
the first ever thread calling me out AND YOU DIDN'T ACTUALLY CALL ME OUT!!!
Why don't you offer to flop it out and piss straight down my throat while you're at it?
i hate it. whenever i go on my friends for a bit, it feels like being at a shit party where i don't really like anyone and just want to go home to watch E.R and eat bourbon biscuits.
also, weird girls that vom on your bed can't find you online if you're not on facebook. quids in.
Unfortunately, I don't have one because I'm a nerd with no self-confidence. All of the kids at school will see my nearly friendless profile and laugh at me.
how has a man as precious as you survived on the internet for so long?
i was only trolling.
