Passing through on a train doesn't count.
Went round the priory when I was a kid
got a few friends in Sheringham, sorry.
Where are the majority of us based? London/Manchester/Glasgow? So deep west country or somewhere like humberside.
Ah, Billie Piper, where did it all go wrong?
It's quite nice.
nice industrial docks, good view of the bridge
(though some Scots have probably made a pilgrimage there)
I imagine lots of other have been there too
It has an abbey.
I've been regularly.
and stop saying places that I've been to.
Nora Batty's house.
i was raised on the gentle humour of last of the summer wine
BUT I REFUSED
I woudn't like to go there.
it's fucking boring
...until 6 months ago
Beautiful in the spring/summer/autumn
slightly less fun in the winter.... unless you like trying to drive your car down big hills in the snow.
She was dead scary, so we all went along with it.
I remember it chucking it down with rain, and being bored. Great story.
I've been to Diss though.
me too, but, Diss lol
I've been to both there and Liphook
I go there quite a bit.
i don't know the names of the places i havent been to
I expect loads of folk have been there on a visit to the Gorge too.
Bought a bed from someone there
went to school there
had a shit temping job there where we got annoyed and packed slices of cucumber in with the cut price mobile phone accessories we were meant to be packing.
grew up on the edge of there
brother lost and subsequently found £250 in a pub there, is not as "Rad" as name suggests
broke down there. Shithole.
regular late night trips in the 90s
several house parties
cycled through there
worked there. eugh.
Been to every pub there
Leisure centre with a wave machine
when i first moved to London I ended up working on the industrial estate for about four/five months,, for an alcohol distribution company. i paid their parking tickets. they got about £10,000 worth of them a month. the warehouse only had three sides as there were trucks in and out all day, and it was freezing cold as a result. they paid me £6ph.
I had a white van job for a fortnight working out of Brimsdown some years back. Grimsdown.
It was revealing. Turns out it's just a tiny village near Bluewater.
and this came up http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4274850
I've slowly been accumulating place names in Essex that sound like characters in a Jilly Cooper novel. So far I have:
Beauchamp (pronounced Beecham) Roding
Bill Bailey (I think) said most Cotswold villages sound like West Indian Cricketers:
Coln St Aldwyn
I used to get my trainers from Bottomboat.
Grandparents used to live there
Sittingbourne's pretty bleak.
Sittingbourne's pretty bleak.
My uncle works there at the Gas Station.
He keeps you warm at night.
terrington st. clement
Isn't that a village? It used to be England's biggest village but maybe it now has town status? Everyone who lives there is in some way involved with jam.
Flitwick. Village next-ish to where I grew up. Get the train there back to my parents's.
Good reference, though.
and i've been to terrington st clement
Think Domingo, the proprietor, might have been a gay though.
My mum taught in Swaffham for ages
Doesn't strike me as a place packed with Dis'ers. Fantastic butchers and sweetshop.
The Howgills are fucking lovely.
Badgers Mount, Kent
Badger Street, Somerset
Badgers Hill, Worcestershire
...Badgers Mount. Wolf from Gladiators used to live there.
Slough, Reading and Didcot.
and possibly Yateley.
I played a little festival there a couple of summers ago, with Supergrass. It was badly signposted and we drove in the wrong way, ending up in a desolate wrecking yard in a scene reminiscent of that bit in U-Turn when Sean Penn goes to get his car "fixed". Scary shit.
But been past a number of times and laughed at the funny shaped houses. Stretching the definition of town though.
Cross it off the list.
BEAT THAT FUCKERS
Used to live there myself, though it might've fallen under Plaistow instead.
...is from Canning Town too I believe. Blue plaque?
no-one's really been to swindon
they claim they have
but we know
They're all stuck on the magic roundabout being raped by the local inbreds.
technically passing through, but the coach got delayed there so had a wander about. It was shit.
Well technically she's from St. Helens, but lived in Prescot. Either way, I've been there.
and my aunty lived in Prescot
Slaidburn. I'll put a KiK-style bet on the fact none of you have gone to Slaidburn.
If we're counting villages, there'll be hundreds no one here's been to.
Anyway, I might have been to Slaidburn. If not I've been near it, I've been to the Forest of Bowland.
except I've been there i suppose
I used to live in sussex near bishopstone but since all my friends were based out of town I ended up visiting places like polegate, hove, newhaven, peacehaven occasionally.
It did seem like practically no one had heard of the place though.
