I think they should be biannual or something.
I think there'd be some merit in that. Release a patch at the end of each transfer window with all the moves and release the new game every couple of years. I didn't get FM11, not sure about 12 - might stick with 10 and wait for 13.
that he'd managed to get into the Scottish cup final with Albion Rovers, and that he was seriously considering putting a suit on for the final.
going to see if I can get it all up to date when I get a chance this week.
Is Sort It Out SI still the place to go for patches and updates?
and nothing you can say can change my mind.
And every year I end up saying goodbye to all those hard-earned Champions League victories with Wolves and have to start the slog all over again.
On the 'History' tab for a player, it shows the appearances, goals, and assists they've managed, right? But if you click on each individual year, you get a breakdown of their goals in other tournaments. But it really bugs me, this, because why can't you click on the 'total' bit at the bottom and get the same breakdown? And why does it shows league appearances, goals, assists, etc., as default, and not for all competitions? It's even more confusing because on the 'Overall Best Eleven' screen it DOES list total senior competition appearances, goals, assists, etc., and in the news reports it talks about the player managing "20 goals in 38 appearances" or whatever when only 12 of those goals are league.
If you get what I mean...
Otherwise keep up the good work, yeah?
I think there is an argument to make the default stats displayed customisable but I don't think the current interface allows for that (not my area of expertise at all though if I'm honest)
I mean surely it's just a case of sticking in a tab at the top right where you can choose between League, Cup, Other, and Overall? Although if it's not your expertise I guess you won't be able to say if it's totally incompatible with the current system...
Given it's currently laid out in table form, adding a customisable tab/drop-down box to it is a lot more work than you'd think considering the overall stats are available at the bottom of the same screen anyway when you highlight a season.
Is this even possible??
Just not enough processing power etc
When will the next available chance be to do this?
from Get Games which is Eurogamer's game download site.
Im not getting it, 2011 was just too much. Bring back SWOS!
otherwise i dont really have time to get far enough into a game.
the ability to change leagues in game is an excellent addition.
but the fans never took to me and Im not even favoured personnel. Fuck em. I've got a version of football / championship / premier manager every season since 91/92. Imagine what I could have done with my life :'(
After investing hours, possibly days, over countless campaigns with Morecambe, Tamworth, Melbourne Victory and Wolves... I just got bored and couldn't be bothered any more.
I know it sounds utterly ridiculous that one could get bored playing with spreadsheets and watching little dots run around... But it happened.
I shall go again with the new game... I'm determined to find something to waste hours on once again :P
my 2007 save won't load anymore :( really, really annoying.
Might have already Jagged myself with this on here, but nevermind- I am currently in 2028 as arsenal manager (after getting Swansea to the premiership- life imitating art, followed by stints at villa, m'borough and reading) and have won the CL 7 times straight and the WC with argentina. My greatest achivement, and the one that will undoubtedly be carved into the old stone of my grave is that of getting Wales to the european championships. There's something peversely unbelievable about that.
Arsenal aren't massive-spending title winners, year-in year-out, in real life, as they always always are on the game.
For all of the last three FMs, Wenger spends about £50m in the first transfer window and goes on to win about 3 major trophies in the next 3 years.
Now that it's looking pretty blatant that it's highly inaccurate, hopefully they'll adjust accordingly.
And after year 1, they gave me fuck all to spend
not selling their best players
and winning multiple trophies
When you play as them you get stiffed
Their youngsters are so overrated it's untrue
You'd think you had a chance because their entire squad was injured then Fran Merida would score a hat trick.
Arsene Wenger declaring he would do everything in his power to sign Steven Gerrard.
To which Gerrard responds, "It would be foolish to turn down a move to a club the size of Arsenal."
They always end up with Liam Brady in charge and a midfield consisting of Sanchez, Fabregas, Sneijder and Ben Arfa or something equally ridiculous
Surely you can program the A.I. to give certain managers the trait "fiscally conservative"?
City spend loads for a couple of seasons then, generally, become quite standard in the market. No more so than United or Liverpool. But Arsenal spend LOADS to get every good player and romp to the title. I'm in something crazy like 2038 and they've built ANOTHER stadium that's got a mental capacity of about 80000, and they've been my main challengers for every piece of silverware for about 15 years, no matter the manager.
they are always completely hopeless on the market and usually end up scraping fourth year after year whilst operating a turnstile in the dug-out.
United end up with a team that looks total plank on paper but always knocks 3 past me, so that's accurate at least.
behind United, Real Arsenal, and in the last version Liverpool, for me.
Better buy it, will probably be a limited edition
Had no idea what I was doing. Once managed to get Spurs to 5th. Did better than Ossie Ardiles did. :)
My laptop doesn't have a CD drive; is there any way of obtaining/playing the game without needing a CD (e.g. downloading it online)?
Think I might have found a bug.
Just had Sergio Aguero sent off for a deliberate handball. Thing is, it was in an attacking position. No complaints from the players. Ref reported to have had an excellent game. Assistant says an appeal against the sending off would be unwise as it was a professional foul.
Unless I'm totally wrong, a cheeky handball in an attacking position isn't a straight red, is it?
Bit annoying as he's gonna have a minimum 3 game ban now. Booo! Anyway just thought I'd let you know.
it's really annoying searching for suitable staff
I'm AFC Wimbledon, somehow managed to get Luigi Bruins on a free
Also when I select my team it's stopped doing the sending selected player to the top thing. Not greatly awful, but annoying.
Find that the game engine is a lot richer using the arrows and sliders especially when you're playing with limited sides.
But I've worked a few things out and I'm starting to get a lot more out of it
using the tactics creator. I was just constantly adjusting the sliders anyway so I just went back to classic.
After two years of building and CL finishes, I've won 8 from 8 at the start of the season and beat PSG 4-1 away in the CL.
My cause has been helped by the year before Wenger taking over at Real Madrid and transfer listing Varane, Canales and Di Maria. Picked all three up for a combined £10m.
Signed Tevez for £15m from Man City, but it's been a waste to be honest. He hasn't been that good, and his wages triggered Bale and Cavani getting £80k pw pay rises.
Sold VDV to Barca for £10m (last year of contract and he never seems to play all tat well) and the fans revolted. Got Levy to buy me Lucas Moura and he's been tearing it up, and all is forgotten
One promotion and two seasons avoiding the drop, although it was hairy last year as I let all my established players leave on frees to bring in a load of youth prospects. This year I'm pumping teams at home with my attack spearheaded by none other than everyone's favourite Bulgarian sulk Dimi Berbatov. His performances veer from the sbulime to the ridiculous.
Still plucking away upper mid table in League 1, signed Craig Bellamy & he's doing shit.... way worse then expected! My only decent keeper left me for the glitz of Coventry City & one of my star strikers is out with an injury... if it weren't for this I'm sure I'd be a promotion challenger!
Free, played 14 games for Liverpool the season before with a 6.80 average and whiling to play for 1.1k/month! It couldn't possibly go wrong! 10 games in and he's yet to score and has 1 asst to his name! FML!
Took far too long to get promoted (5th, 3rd then finally romped 1st). Then progress in top league slowed by somehow qualifying for the UEFA Cup through Fair Play and having to spend pre-season playing qualifiers with my tiny tiny squad. Finally got my training ground upgraded to 5 star and have about 50 amazing coaches, so hopefully all my 18 year old players with 4.5/5 star potential will actually turn out amazing in the next few seasons...
Now alternate between 4-4-1-1 and a 5-3-2 with wingbacks to accomodate all the potentially amazing kids - if they don't get gametime their potential just plummets.
To be honest, the big difference in form is usually due to having someone with Corners 18 and a centre back with jumping/heading 18 standing on the far post.
Always works a treat.
Hearing about other people's FM games = hearing about other people's dreams
my squad on paper is mental good- got m'vila, gotze, kagawa, some wonder kid striker called kessels who at 20 is already better than van persie, and replaced andre santos with a cb who can play at left back called bocchelli (never heard of him irl). Want to replace him with some guy i can't remember the name of in the summer and have bocchelli make a partnership with vermaelen. The full back plays for Porto though i think.
Also got a couple of wonderkids not quite good enough for the first team, but one DM is almost as good as m'vila, and an AM that's about twice as good as oxlade-chamberlain. Both 18.
PROBLEM IS though, i seem to be really shit at scoring goals. Like, REALLY shit. I have the best defensive record in the league, but the worst scoring one in the top 6. How do you score goals? It's really frustrating actually, basically means i'm incapable of winning away from home 90% of the time.
Also, man united are fucking ridiculous. It's not fair. I think they've won about 12 games in a row now, it was the same the past two seasons. And they got to the CL final the previous 2 seasons as well. The moment i drop points in the second half of the season, my title challenge is pretty much over. Really annoying. Suspect Ant's probably been tampering with the stats to make them invincible, tbh.
In-swinging to the six-yard box, two CBs attacking near and far post, works loads.
I'm gonna taken the reemergence of this thread as a sign to download FM2012
I seem to have stopped being able to do well in FM2012. I've started several games recently, had decent players for the level I'm at and haven't altered my approach to previous games where I've done alright. But I keep losing the majority of games, quite often to late goals. This invariably leads to me being sacked around Christmas.
I've even started games with decent clubs with loads of money, invested wisely and I'm still being hammered.
Has anyone had issues like this? Anything obvious that I might be doing wrong?
I always seem to 'hit the wall' after a while and don't seem to be able to win any games. A shuffle of the tactics usually goes some way to fix it.
at the regal age of 38. Was still coming off the bench to tap the odd one in. With him goes the last man in my team with a face, and I think it's time to call it a day. None of the guys called things like Paul Scott and Scott Paul are ever going to score a goal by hitting it off the crossbar from 30 yards and bouncing it back in off the back of Rafael's head.
Win the Premier League with a team that hasn't won it before.
Previous attempts have included me getting Leicester promoted then Man Utd signed me up, I signed Falcao for 40m, got bored, game save deleted.
My current game is with Crystal Palace who I have just lead to their 3rd Championship title.
and third and fourth. Probably 2007.
Also won with Gretna in 2007, the one where they had (relatively) loads of money. That Champions League run was fun - got to the quarters and beat Real Madrid in the Bernabeu in the first leg but got absolutely spanked at home in the second about 6-0 and stopped playing that save virtually in tears.
by telling you that I set up a FM 2013 game on holiday mode over the weekend (a method we have of checking for bugs at Antpocalypsenowcorps / Sports Interactive) and the game progressed 100 years to 2113.
The big news here is England finally won the World Cup in 2110, the first time since 1966. The Golden Generation. Of players with transluscent afros called Mohammad Barton, Brendan Jagielka and Jermaine Winterburn.
think one thing is that the ai's youth development seems to be a bit shit. Idk, i guess i've not played enough of the game to know for sure, but i dont think i've seen any team except mine nurture a WORLD CLASS ATTACKING TALENT or whatever. Couple of good full backs though.
OH also, there are pretty much NO good south american regens. And hardly any good african ones. They're almost all dutch, german, french, spanish. Few good mexicans for some reason. Which is a bit silly isn't it? I mean seriously, don't think i've seen any premiership-worthy south american regens in the 8 seasons ive been playing so far.
Gotta say I disagree. Had some proper bo Nigerian chap once called something like Yusuf Sankey. He was like if peak level Kanu was quick and good in the air. A few good Ivorians too. Also there are always good Brazilians a few seasons in, but they usually have lolsome personalities like VOLATILE, TEMPRAMENTAL or UNPROFESSIONAL. Like Edmundo or something.
I don't really know though, Ant is the guy to ask. He's been there more years than I have been there weeks I think!
What league are you playing?
Won the champions league last year, but Utd and City are impossible to catch up with.
Some of my older players declined by half a star so i binned them all and promoted all my youth projects who aren't quite up to standard yet
