1. tree of life.
not much to add that hasn't already been said in that thread already. a flawed masterpiece. possibly the most stunningly evocative depiction of family life, twinned with sean penn sucking farts out of multiple arses. still....thank god it exists, and a wonderful thing to experience at the cinema. (mine was empty though. wouldn't fancy it with talkers/laughers/scoffers/delinquents)
2. the illusionist.
very disappointing. really beautiful animation and detail, but it needed more humour that was actually funny and not just flat-pack slapstick about pressure hoses and pet rabbits being cooked to balance out the light/dark ratio. in the end, just a bit depressing.
3. fantastic mr fox.
4. hannah takes the stairs
easily the best 'mublecore' film i've seen if you want to decide that there is a thing called mumblecore and that this film is included in that category. Possibly one of the most realistic films about relationships and stuff that i've ever seen in terms of the tiny details and nuances that arise when you're breaking someone's heart/jealous/infatuated/confused, etc etc. made me realise how tiring and puzzling and scary i think will always find courting.
decent bunch that.
also, love film treating me right so far so good.
