And, much as I hate to say it, it's a pretty powerful read. The self-obsession is kept to a minimum, and the people she meets are front and centre. It's not going to win a Pultizer for investigative reportage, but as a piece of colour writing, it's very strong. And if it encourages the millions of people who read the Daily Mail to take some notice of this crisis, then it's all for the good.
