Ran for 25 minutes without stopping.
first time EVER in my life.
A couple of weeks ago I ate 4 kebabs in one sitting
Thanks everybody. No really, you're too kind.
that's more kebabs than i've eaten in my entire life
good work.
Thank you
Last night I asked someone local about the guided bus thing. He seemed pretty angry about the absurdity of it all, particularly that the first bus was 2 years AND ONE MINUTE late. It was all quite fascinating.
it is pretty absurd!
with the money they've spent on it, they could have just re-laid railway track from huntingdon to cambridge blah blah blah
On track to finish my PhD thesis within the time I set myself
6 weeks, start to finish. Piece of piss. Don't know what all the fuss is about.
Clarification needed.
Six weeks to get from a blank piece of paper to a final draft-quality thesis? If so, bloody hell.
Sciencey PhD, not one of those 800 page arts behemoths
So it's been 4 years of research first :P
Started splitting my time between lab work and writing 6 weeks ago. Got an email from my supervisor today saying that he's read the last chapters I gave to him and they're good to go pending minor corrections. Doing some tedious fiddly stuff now (layout, formatting, appendices, abstracts, acknowledgements, cover page), ready to get it bound and submitted on Monday.
People thought I was mental only giving myself 4 weeks of full time writing. I've got a job starting, so I didn't have the luxury to faff too much, but I haven't massively broken my back getting it done in this time.
Nearly done!
Nice work!
Even if it's not an arts behemoth, that's really impressive. A lot of science PhDs that I know actually struggled to write quickly due to being relatively out of practice with academic writing. Great to have a job for straight afterwards as well to avoid the pre-viva limbo...
Ta!
The writing came fairly easily actually, which was a pleasant surprise. The hardest part was probably the introduction, but I just beasted it out in 5 days, after which my brain felt fuzzy and numb. I think our group record for time spent writing up was somewhere between 6 and 8 months, which was absolutely taking the piss. Can't help but think the guy must have been sat about in his pants eating biscuits rather than doing any actual writing for most of that time.
Submitting on Monday, viva on the 1st (now that I am bricking myself about, although rationally it'll almost certainly be fine), new job starting on the 5th. I've forgotten what free time feels like.
I got more than 100 twitter followers, after some friendly bots added me last night.
I hit 10K posts recently
quite an achievement to keep it so low given the amount of hours I'm on the forums.
actually managed to do some work today.
