And yes, of course I do, poor chap needs his rest.
Phones are people too. And we should never forget that.
it always goes off.
Do you turn your phone off when you go to bed at night?
<Asked to the tune of that George Formby song>
<clarification of that reference for the yoots:
Glad to help.
the alarm won't go off if the phone is off.
It astounds me that Nokia manage this and yet Apple and HTC can't.
Mine does, even if it has 'run out of battery'
Thanks for your contribution.
Which is a right pain in the balls sometimes.
But... do you?
I sleep fitfully in short but intense bursts and usually have to check what time it is to gauge whether I should go back to sleep or get up and listen to music and drink tea until it's time for work.
thanks for asking
Or do you just like to mix it up to keep things fresh?
Thanks for playing.
the possibility of someone needing to call me
saves having to turn it on to find out the time if I wake up before the alarm goes off
sometimes I forget
It's a real vipers nest.
So I can check the time if I wake up but not have anyone waking me up if they ring / text
waking up at what feels like near-waking up time only to discover you've only been asleep for an hour? I THINK NOT
That's the magical moment RIGHT THERE.
Mainly due to the fact that even if you switch it off, when you plug an iPhone in to charge, it turns itself on. WHY?
Also need it on for my alarm. But I have it on silent.
Because I leave it to charge overnight. However, I leave it to charge in my hall way, away from the bedroom, where its alarm is loud enough to wake me (it's actually a secondary alarm, my radio alarm clock turns on Radio4 half an hour before the phone goes off then I have to get out of bed to shut it up), but its beeping for emails/texts generally won't.
Hope this helps.
I sleep with mine under my pillow.
I have an unhealthy relationship with my phone.
and for an alarm.
It was bliss.
It was not bliss for us that tried to get hold of you :D
Oh no! I was being a total hippie. I didn't even have internet and the only english speaking channel was CNN.
I will email you!
If I am, then it stays on, on silent. If I’m not, then it gets turned off as I have an alarm clock and bedside lamp.
I can set a wee sound profile thing. So my phone is on vibrate only 08.30-16.00 when I'm at work and it is in my pocket.
Then 16.00-22.00 it is on normal and rings and makes noises and so on.
Then 22.00-08.30 it is on total silent with no vibrate so no matter what it won't wake me up.
Blimey what a frivilous little world we live in.
- Uses basically zero battery
- Stops annoying drunk phone calls/texts from friends at 3am
- Can still use the alarm function
- The symbol looks cool
A combination of success
you crazy bro'
Otherwise it would make this fancy app a bit pointless:
i always have my phone on silent anyways as i find ringtones obnoxious so dont get woken up and its my alarm too
but often silent will suffice, I have set ringtones for family members though... in case of emergencies n such
If I get called out unsocial hours when I'm not officially on call I get quite a lot for overtime.
so I guess the answer is no..
because, like a lot of others, it's my alarm and it's an <belmface>iphone</belmface>.
but my HTCDHd doesn't seem to allow that, so it's on silent.
In fact I'm going to start doing it because of this thread. Thanks DiS.
I have started to chastise myself for saying "iPhone" or "MacBook" which flies in the face of previous arguments between myself and Theo on here and twitter.
Probably because it's like an iPod which came first. And so it's kind of taken on its own name.
People who get bothered by people calling it an iPhone are people that need to get out more and find more important stuff to worry about.
Very, very rarely get calls or texts at night...and it's my alarm.
Intruigued by the conflicting reports of whether iPhones turn on or not when set to alarm and switched off. Never tried. People who know my number know not to be a dick at night.
And they often complain that I woke them up.
TURN YOUR PHONE OFF THEN YOU MONG.
Hope that helps.
I seriously look forward to the opportunity to shout at people, if anyone dares phone me at some ungodly hour, I will destroy them with words and volume.
After 11pm? Before 7.30am? Get fucked, pal.
If I wake up in the middle of the night I need to know the time.
